A'ja Wilson Puts Aces Ahead Late and Has 26 Points, 18 Rebounds in 84-81 Win Over Mercury
Aja Wilson made the go-ahead basket with 22 seconds left and finished with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists as the Las Vegas Aces beat Phoenix 84–81 on Sunday, ending the Mercury's six-game winning streak.
Wilson made a difficult layup on a feed from Chelsea Gray to make it 83–81 after Jackie Young snared an offensive rebound for the Aces. Aaliyah Nye made a free throw with 7.1 seconds left before the Mercury failed to get a good look on a third straight possession in the final minute. Nye, a rookie, had career bests of five 3-pointers and 16 points for the Aces (8–8). Young added 15 points and Jewell Loyd had 10. Wilson tied Lisa Leslie for the most 25-point, 15-rebound games in WNBA history at 13.
Alyssa Thomas led Phoenix (12–5) with 16 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Kahleah Copper added 15 points, Sami Whitcomb had 14, and Satou Sabally 10. Whitcomb had four 3-pointers, giving her at least four in five straight games, tying a WNBA record. There were 10 ties and 17 lead changes in the game, which was tied at 40 at halftime. Wilson had 10 points in the third quarter, which concluded with the Aces leading 59–50. Phoenix scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter and surged to a 67–62 lead. Vegas went back ahead on Loyd's 3-pointer with 3:14 to play, and the lead changed hands five times after that.

Phillies slugger Bryce Harper is reinstated after injured list stint with sore wrist
Phillies slugger Bryce Harper was reinstated Monday ahead of Philadelphia's opener against San Diego after a stint on the injured list with right wrist inflammation. Harper went on the 10-day injured list on June 6. The two-time National League MVP and eight-time All-Star is hitting .258 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in 57 games. He also missed five games from May 26 to June 2 with a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch from Atlanta's Spencer Strider. Harper said when he went on the IL that he felt pain in the wrist during a large portion of last season when he hit 30 homers while helping the Phillies win the NL East. The Phillies entered Monday's game in first place in the division. They are 13–14 overall this season without Harper in the lineup. To make room on the 26-man roster, infielder Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment.

Aces Acquire NaLyssa Smith From the Wings for First-Round Pick in 2027
The Las Vegas Aces have acquired forward NaLyssa Smith from the Dallas Wings for a 2027 first-round draft pick. The trade, announced Monday, ends what had been a disappointing Dallas debut for Smith, a Texas native who played at Baylor. She was averaging career lows in points, rebounds, and minutes for the Wings, who started 1–11 before winning four of their past six games. Smith joined the Wings from Indiana in an offseason trade. The 24-year-old was part of a major roster makeover before Dallas selected Paige Bueckers No. 1 overall in the draft in April. In three seasons with the Fever, Smith was a double-figure scorer each year while averaging nearly eight rebounds per game, although her production dipped after Caitlin Clark joined Indiana last season. This year, Smith's minutes are below 20 for the first time at 19.1, while she is averaging 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. Smith, the No. 2 pick by Indiana in 2022, made the WNBA All-Rookie first team after a standout Baylor career that included a national championship when she was a freshman. Smith is from San Antonio. The Aces, who won back-to-back WNBA titles in 2022–23, are off to a disappointing start after sending Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks while adding Jewell Loyd from Seattle in a six-team trade this past offseason. The trade required the Wings to release Kaila Charles, who signed a hardship contract on June 17.

Is EA Sports reviving its college basketball video game franchise?
EA Sports sent a cryptic tweet on Monday that hints at the revival of its college basketball video game franchise. Although not as popular as its college football franchise that was revived last year, EA was among the industry's leaders in basketball gaming in the early 2000s. Its NCAA Basketball games (with earlier iterations named NCAA March Madness) were discontinued in 2009. 'Bring the Madness. Let's run it back. #CBB #ItsInTheGame,' EA Sports tweeted. 'There's nothing like College Sports,' another one of its accounts tweeted. 2K Games, whose NBA 2K franchise is the most popular basketball game in the market, also used to have a college basketball franchise. Both developers ended their college hoops games due to multiple variables, not limited to player likeness concerns, which froze EA's college football franchise. A public relations representative for EA Sports wasn't able to provide further details on plans for a college basketball game. The rep referred The Associated Press back to the tweet. A 2K rep did not immediately respond to the AP's inquiry about their plans for college basketball gaming.
