Elizabeth Weber reemerges after decades for Billy Joel's HBO documentary
The 82-year-old appeared at the premiere of And So It Goes, HBO's new two-part documentary on the music icon, during the 2025 Tribeca Festival in New York.
Weber, often referred to as Joel's muse and the inspiration behind several of his classic songs, attended the event with her son Sean Small. Reflecting on her eight-year marriage to Joel, she told People, 'It was great then, it's great whenever I think about it, and it's great now.'
The documentary dives deep into Billy Joel's early struggles, creative rise, and personal pain — much of which centered around Elizabeth. The two had a controversial beginning, with Elizabeth initially married to Joel's bandmate Jon Small. Despite the rocky start, she and Joel married in 1973, with Weber becoming a strategic force behind his success.
She reportedly pushed him to release 'Just the Way You Are' — a decision that won him two Grammys. Weber also inspired iconic songs such as 'She's Always a Woman' and 'The Stranger.' However, their marriage ended in the early 1980s amid Joel's growing substance issues and a near-fatal motorcycle accident.
Now, re-entering public life, Weber says she joined the project after encouragement from her granddaughters and co-director Susan Lacy. Notably absent was Joel, 75, who is recovering from normal pressure hydrocephalus. According to Lacy, he is undergoing physical therapy and is expected to recover fully.
Weber's return offers rare insight into a pivotal yet misunderstood chapter of Billy Joel's career and personal life.

Source confirms Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson's relationship is "sincere" following filming
Liam Neeson made headlines in 2024 when he told PEOPLE, 'I'm past all that,' in response to questions about dating. At the time, the actor appeared to have closed the door on new romantic relationships. Now, Neeson, aged 73, and Pamela Anderson, 58, co-stars on The Naked Gun, have reportedly entered 'the early stages' of a romantic relationship. A source close to the production has described their connection as 'sincere' and noted that they are clearly smitten with each other. Their chemistry has been evident during the global press tour. At the New York premiere on July 28, the pair posed together alongside their children—displaying ease and warmth. During an appearance on Today on July 29, Neeson and Anderson playfully pretended to be caught making out when the camera turned to them. At the London premiere a week earlier, Anderson planted a kiss on Neeson's cheek in full view of attendees. Neeson, previously married to Natasha Richardson until her death in 2009, had described Anderson in his PEOPLE cover story as 'madly in love' with her, praising her professionalism and character. Anderson reciprocated the sentiment, calling Neeson 'the perfect gentleman' and praising his respect and kindness. Although Anderson later clarified in Entertainment Weekly that their relationship remained platonic during filming, citing professional dinner events shared with cast members, the current reports suggest that their connection has since deepened into something more affectionate. As The Naked Gun prepares for its release on August 1, fans and observers continue to monitor the pair's evolving relationship with interest.

The Witcher 4 dev shares concern over meeting expectations set by The Witcher 3
CD Projekt Red's upcoming release The Witcher 4 is facing high expectations, and the studio acknowledges the pressure of following up one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs of all time. In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, narrative director Philipp Weber admitted that the development team is aware of online discussions questioning how the next game will match the success of The Witcher 3. Weber responded to this by saying, 'I'm like 'yeah, how are we going to do that?'' He added that while expectations are high, the team remains committed to the creative principles that guided the previous title. 'The way we want to do justice to the legacy of The Witcher 3 is to take the philosophy we had during The Witcher 3 – how to make a game, how to really care about these things, how to tell stories – and keep that philosophy.' He also explained that the goal isn't to replicate the previous game, but to create a new experience that honours its foundation. 'This is supposed to feel like a true sequel, not just redoing what we did before,' Weber noted. Although the game is still in early development, it has been confirmed that The Witcher 4 is set in Kovir and will use Unreal Engine 5. CD Projekt Red has not yet announced a release date.
