2 people arrested, handgun seized in connection with shooting in East York

Two people have been arrested, and a semi-automatic handgun has been seized in connection with the investigation into a shooting in East York that injured a man on Tuesday.
Officers attended the area of Cosburn and Greenwood avenues shortly before 2:30 p.m. for reports of the sound of gunshots.
Toronto police said one man fired a gun, striking another man during an altercation. When officers arrived, they located the victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand.
As a result of an investigation, members of the Gun and Gangs Task Force identified the suspect and later located him in Whitby.
Police said 22-year-old Owen Bayi Makouangou was taken into custody and during his arrest, a semi-automatic handgun and a quantity of cocaine were seized.

He has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm without holding a licence, two counts of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, two counts of possession of a loaded regulated firearm, two counts of occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and one count each of discharging a firearm with intent and possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance.
Police said 26-year-old Guy-Christophe Bangoura was also arrested as a result of their investigation. They did not say what the reason behind his arrest was.
He has been charged with possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance.

Potato truck driver dies in crash near O'Leary, P.E.I.: RCMP

The single vehicle crash happened Friday around 4:30 p.m. on Route 2 in Carleton. Prince District RCMP said it appears the driver went off the road and the truck flipped over. RCMP along with the O'Leary Fire Department, Island EMS, Occupational Health and Safety, and the Department of Transportation responded to the crash. Police said the driver, a Prince County man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time. 19-year-old man shot dead in Montreal North: 18th murder victim on the island in 2025
The 19-year-old man who was shot and wounded on Friday evening in the borough of Montreal North has succumbed to his injuries. Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed that it is the 18th murder on its territory since the beginning of the year and that the investigation has been assigned to the SPVM's Major Crimes Unit. Police were called to the scene at around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, near the intersection of Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard and Matte Avenue, where a person had been hit by at least one bullet. Upon arrival, they found the victim on the ground, explained SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. The young man, who had been shot in the upper body, was in critical condition when he was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during the night. According to initial reports, a suspect fired at the victim while he was in a vehicle. The suspect fled on foot before the police arrived. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning, Chèvrefils said. A security perimeter was set up to protect the scene for investigators and forensic technicians.
