ITC WOW Recognizes Students and Schools for Contribution Towards Clean India Mission

It is heartening to see that our future generation is well aware of this important aspect of our lives and is actively taking the initiative to manage and recycle waste.'
The Interschool Recycling Championship (ISRC), ITC WOW's flagship programme is designed to instil the habit of source segregation and responsible waste management among future citizens. Implemented across all major cities in southern India, the programme encourages students and schools to actively participate in waste management practices, thereby fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The 2024-25 edition of the Championship witnessed an overwhelming response with over 85000 students actively participating and collectively contributing approximately 118 metric tons of dry waste for recycling. The Championship also saw 2482 schools from across southern India take part, involving 9.31 lakh students in raising awareness about waste segregation. The programme brought together government and private schools from various boards, including ICSE, CBSE, and SSC, fostering a culture of sustainability among young changemakers.
The awards event witnessed a good turnout of around 300 participants and featured cultural performances by students, showcasing their enthusiasm and creativity. A key highlight was the Swachhata Pledge, led by the Chief Guest, where all attendees reaffirmed their commitment to cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Beyond recognizing the winners, the event also served as a platform to encourage continued participation in environmental sustainability initiatives. It helped strengthen the collaboration among various stakeholders, including the community, schools, and government, in promoting responsible waste management practices and driving the message of a cleaner, healthier India.
ITC's flagship WOW programme is a collaborative model involving multiple stakeholders that is turning neighbourhoods into clean and healthy environments. Since its inception in 2007, ITC WOW has emerged as one of India's largest awareness programmes on solid waste management. The initiative actively promotes source segregation, maximizes resource recovery and supports sustainable livelihoods for waste handlers. To date, ITC WOW has:
· Engaged 29 million citizens across 72 lakh households and 71 lakh students across six states in its mission for responsible waste management.
· Benefitted over 17,900 waste collectors and ragpickers.
· Recovered 67,100 metric tons of dry recyclable waste annually.
In Tamil Nadu State alone, the programme has covered over 6 lakh households across 221 wards, amplifying its impact on responsible waste management.
The initiative underscores ITC's commitment to encouraging sustainable practices and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the younger generation. It is aligned with the broader goal of advancing a circular economy. As a global sustainability leader, ITC has achieved the distinction of being the only company in the world to be solid waste recycling positive for 18 consecutive years and has been plastic neutral since FY2022. Adopting a circular approach and reducing its environmental footprint, ITC aims for 100 percent of its packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable/bio-degradable by 202.

ITC Hotels Q1 net profit rises 54% to ₹133 cr post demerger; revenue up 15%
Hospitality chain ITC Hotels, which recently demerged from consumer goods giant ITC Limited, reported a 54 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 133 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2026. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 86.5 crore in the same period last year. Meanwhile, its revenue from operations grew 15 per cent to Rs 815.5 crore from Rs 706 crore in the corresponding period. The chain currently operates over 130 hotels, amounting to more than 13,000 keys across the country and in Sri Lanka. The company has focused on management and franchising contracts to add keys to its portfolio, with only 42 per cent of its current inventory owned by the group. The company has a pipeline of 50 hotels with over 4,500 keys, with a high salience of brownfield assets, aiming to reach a portfolio of 220 operational hotels with over 20,000 keys by 2030.

ITC Hotels jumps 6%, hits new high on strong Q1 nos; m-cap tops ₹50,000 cr
ITC Hotels share price today Shares of ITC Hotels rallied up to 6 per cent to hit a new high at ₹242.15 on the BSE in Wednesday's intra-day trade after the company reported strong earnings for the quarter ended June 2025 (Q1FY26). ITC Hotels, which recently was demerged from ITC Limited, began trading in the stock markets on January 29. The stock has bounced back 53 per cent from its 52-week low of ₹158 touched on February 25, 2025. A sharp rally in stock price has seen the market capitalisation of ITC Hotels touch ₹50,000 crore for the first-time ever today. At 02:27 PM; the company's market capitalisation stood at ₹50,011 crore, the BSE data shows. Indian Hotels Company tops the list of stocks in the hotel sector with a market capitalisation of ₹1.07 trillion. The average trading volumes on the counter jumped over three-fold, with a combined 14.73 million shares changing hands on the NSE and BSE. ITC Hotels today reported a healthy 53.4 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated net profit at ₹133.71 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2025-26 (Q1FY26). The company had posted a net profit of ₹87.16 crore in the same period last year. Its revenue from operations rose 15.5 per cent to ₹815.54 crore from ₹705.84 crore a year ago. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax (PBIDT) rose 33 per cent year-on-year to ₹296.95 crore from ₹223.18 crore. Meanwhile, ITC Hotel's presence has expanded to Tier 2 and 3 cities, where demand for premium hospitality is rapidly increasing. The business continues to witness growing interest amongst property owners to partner with its iconic brands resulting in healthy generation of leads and pipeline of management contracts. The company has a robust pipeline of 50 hotels with over 4,500 keys with high salience of brownfield assets and targets a portfolio of 220 operational hotels with over 20,000 keys by 2030. Industry/Company outlook The Indian hospitality sector has started FY2026 on a strong footing, with Q1FY26 Revenue per Available Room (RevPARs) seeing double-digit growth despite the Indo-Pak conflict impacting demand for some days in May 2025. The outlook for Q2FY26 remains positive, supported by a lineup of events and seasonal demand drivers across India. A cluster of long weekends in August (Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Ganesh Chaturthi) is likely to support leisure travel across leisure destinations, analysts at Elara Capital said in the quarterly preview. ICICI Securities view on ITC Hotels ITC Hotels has a debt free balance sheet with cash reserves of ₹1,750 crore. With efficient capital allocation, investing 8-10 per cent of revenues (₹350- 450crore) for capex on renovation/on-going projects, the cash flow generation is expected to be strong in the coming years. The company can utilise it for inorganic initiatives and reward shareholders with good dividend payout in the coming years. ITC Hotels derives ~40 per cent of its revenues from F&B business, highest amongst the listed peers with F&B revenue contribution of 13- 35 per cent. ITC hotels F&B business revenues grew at a CAGR of 13 per cent over FY23-25 to ₹1,410.30 crore. With higher room demand, increasing footfalls in the restaurants and higher demand from conferences/events the F&B business revenues to grow at a CAGR of 19 per cent over the next three years, the brokerage firm said. Strong portfolio brands, sturdy balance sheet and efficient capital allocation makes ITC Hotels a formidable play in the hospitality space. ICICI Securities expects its revenues/EBIDTA/PAT to grow at CAGR of 15 per cent/19 per cent/29 per cent over FY25-28E. The brokerage firm has a Buy rating on the stock with a price target of ₹261 (valued at 30x FY27E EV/EBIDTA).

MP Mallu Ravi Stresses Collective Effort for Effective Implementation of Welfare and Development Schemes in Nagar Kurnool
Gadwal: Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Mallu Ravi emphasized that welfare and development benefits initiated by the Central and State Governments should reach the intended beneficiaries through the collective and coordinated efforts of district officials. He made these remarks while presiding over the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, held on Wednesday at the Collector's office conference hall. During the meeting, the MP reviewed the progress and implementation of programs across various sectors, including education, healthcare, rural water supply, agriculture, rural development, banking, Panchayati Raj, child welfare, civil supplies, and industries. Recognition for Gattu Block's Achievement Mallu Ravi congratulated the district administration for Gattu Mandal's recognition as one of the Top-5 ranked blocks nationwide in a NITI Aayog assessment. He praised the District Collector B.M. Santosh and other officials for their dedication. Banking and Financial Inclusion He directed banking institutions – public, private, and rural – to ensure adequate disbursement of loans across priority and non-priority sectors. He instructed them to resolve all pending applications and provide crop loans without delay. He also recommended the immediate establishment of SBI branches in Erravalli and Dharur mandal centers. Additionally, he urged banks to take swift action to set up digital libraries in the region. MGNREGS and Rural Development The district issued 1.56 lakh job cards under the MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme). Over the past three months, 2,074 man-days were generated, paying ₹307 per day, with a total of ₹14.45 crore distributed as daily wages. Under the Vanamahotsavam program, MGNREGS funds are being utilized for nurseries, planting, fitting, and maintenance work. Swachh Bharat and Social Welfare Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the district provided ₹12,000 per toilet for sanitation infrastructure. Also, 17,549 beneficiaries, including senior citizens and widows, are receiving pensions. Under the Mahila Shakti scheme, aimed at empowering one crore women to become economically independent, the district plans to set up petrol bunks and solar power units. Agriculture and Soil Health The Agriculture Department, with Central Government support, is collecting soil samples from 6,000 farmers to issue Soil Health Cards for improved crop productivity. Healthcare Initiatives Under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS): Medical screenings were conducted for women, with necessary medications provided. BP was detected in 57,400 individuals and diabetes in 26,000 individuals, who are now receiving treatment. 661 tuberculosis (TB) patients are receiving free treatment and a monthly allowance of ₹3,000. Healthcare infrastructure includes: 10 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) 57 sub-centers 3,328 people treated under the Aarogyasri scheme. Educational Progress Under the Education Department: 3,994 students are studying in 12 KGBV (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya) schools. The district achieved 91% pass rate in the 10th-grade exams last year. A new menu has been introduced under the Midday Meal Scheme to provide nutritious food to all students. Textbooks and uniforms were distributed to all students. Instructions were issued to renovate dilapidated schools and repair toilets wherever needed. Drinking Water Supply Under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme, clean drinking water is being supplied via pipelines to households in 255 village panchayats and habitations. As part of the Summer Action Plan, water tankers and repaired borewells were arranged to ensure uninterrupted supply during the dry season. Infrastructure and Roads Pending road works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) were instructed to be completed immediately. MP Mallu Ravi called for inter-departmental coordination to achieve the proposed targets and to effectively implement Central and State welfare schemes. Collector's Remarks District Collector B.M. Santosh, in his address, appreciated the MP's commitment to monitoring welfare programs. He informed that the district is actively reviewing the implementation of schemes from over 40 departments on a regular basis.
