Play Airlines drops US flights to Iceland, while Arajet announces Boston to Dominican Republic service this fall
Play began service at Logan in spring 2022. Play was formed after WOW, another low-cost, Iceland-based airline, went out of business. The same management team from WOW formed Play. ITC WOW Recognizes Students and Schools for Contribution Towards Clean India Mission
Reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and resource conservation through sustainable waste management and recycling practices, ITC Limited hosted the Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW) Interschool Recycling Championship Awards Presentation Event today at The Grand Regent Hotel, Coimbatore. The event was held to recognize and celebrate the exceptional contributions made by students and schools in advancing the cause of the Clean India Mission or Swachh Bharat, through effective waste management during the Championship. The award ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Thiru. The Interschool Recycling Championship (ISRC), ITC WOW's flagship programme is designed to instil the habit of source segregation and responsible waste management among future citizens. Implemented across all major cities in southern India, the programme encourages students and schools to actively participate in waste management practices, thereby fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility. The 2024-25 edition of the Championship witnessed an overwhelming response with over 85000 students actively participating and collectively contributing approximately 118 metric tons of dry waste for recycling. The Championship also saw 2482 schools from across southern India take part, involving 9.31 lakh students in raising awareness about waste segregation. The programme brought together government and private schools from various boards, including ICSE, CBSE, and SSC, fostering a culture of sustainability among young changemakers. The awards event witnessed a good turnout of around 300 participants and featured cultural performances by students, showcasing their enthusiasm and creativity. A key highlight was the Swachhata Pledge, led by the Chief Guest, where all attendees reaffirmed their commitment to cleanliness and environmental responsibility. Beyond recognizing the winners, the event also served as a platform to encourage continued participation in environmental sustainability initiatives. It helped strengthen the collaboration among various stakeholders, including the community, schools, and government, in promoting responsible waste management practices and driving the message of a cleaner, healthier India. ITC's flagship WOW programme is a collaborative model involving multiple stakeholders that is turning neighbourhoods into clean and healthy environments. Since its inception in 2007, ITC WOW has emerged as one of India's largest awareness programmes on solid waste management. The initiative actively promotes source segregation, maximizes resource recovery and supports sustainable livelihoods for waste handlers. To date, ITC WOW has: · Engaged 29 million citizens across 72 lakh households and 71 lakh students across six states in its mission for responsible waste management. · Benefitted over 17,900 waste collectors and ragpickers. · Recovered 67,100 metric tons of dry recyclable waste annually. In Tamil Nadu State alone, the programme has covered over 6 lakh households across 221 wards, amplifying its impact on responsible waste management. The initiative underscores ITC's commitment to encouraging sustainable practices and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the younger generation. It is aligned with the broader goal of advancing a circular economy. As a global sustainability leader, ITC has achieved the distinction of being the only company in the world to be solid waste recycling positive for 18 consecutive years and has been plastic neutral since FY2022. Adopting a circular approach and reducing its environmental footprint, ITC aims for 100 percent of its packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable/bio-degradable by 202.

Coimbatore schools, students recognised for responsible waste management in ITC Limited's WOW inter-school recycling championship
Amrita Vidyalayam, Kalapatti, became the overall champion in ITC Limited's Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW) inter-school recycling championship held for schools in Coimbatore. According to the organisers, over 9.3 lakh students from 2,482 schools in South India collected 4,751 metric tonnes of dry waste in the 2024-25 edition of the championship, which is aimed to instil the habit of source segregation and responsible waste management among students. A total of 85,642 students belonging to 160 schools collected 118 metric tonnes of segregated dry waste under the initiative in Coimbatore, where it was implemented through Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC). Assistant Collector Prashanth S. presented the awards to the winners. Amrita Vidyalayam, Kalapatti, collected 7,640 kg of segregated dry waste to become the overall champions, followed by MDN Future CBSE Senior Secondary School, Sulur, (4,235 kg), and Nehru International School, T.M. Palayam (2,609 kg) among CBSE schools. Shri Nehru Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, R.S. Puram (3,112 kg), SVGV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mettupalayam, (2025.8 kg), and St. Joseph's Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gopalapuram, (2,014 kg) became the top three among State board schools. Three students each from the CBSE and State board schools were also honoured for their individual performance. Look: Kam Hugh, Moon among 'Drag Race France All Stars' cast

Photo courtesy of World of Wonder June 11 (UPI) -- Makeup artist Kam Hugh and Drag Race France Season 2 contestant Moon are among the 10 queens competing to win Drag Race France All Stars, which arrives July 10 on WOW Presents Plus. The upcoming series will follow contestants as they overcome various challenges. Each week, the top performers will participate in a lipsync battle that gives the winner the chance to eliminate someone from the show. The other queens hoping to score the prize of 30,000 euros include artist Elips, burlesque performer La Big Bertha, Season 3 veteran Magnetica, Season 2 alum Mami Watta, Marvel-inspired performer Misty Phoenix, music artist Piche, Season 2 star Punani and cabaret founder Soa de Muse. Nicky Doll is set to host, while Daphne Burki will serve as a judge alongside Shy'm and Loic Prigent. Drag Race France aired in 2022. Season 1 of Drag Race France All Stars will premiere July 10 at 1 p.m. EDT on WOW Presents Plus.
