In an interview with Al Roker for Today, Murphy said that he would be playing the funk music legend, 'I'm getting ready to do a George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic. I'm getting ready to do George Clinton.' Continuing the list, he said, '[I've] already started 'Shrek 5.' And I'm going to be — I'm Inspector Clouseau in the next 'Pink Panther.''
Certainly, Roker was stunned by the unexpected yet delightful answer and reacted, 'Wait, what?' Furthermore, the exchange continued between the two, where Murphy had to confirm his role twice to the host.
