It's a far cry from the weather at last year's event when revellers had to deal with wind The BBC Weather Service is predicting day-long rays and highs of 25C (77F) for Glasgow Green on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Met Office definition of a 'heatwave' is when the mercury breaks 25C for three days in succession. Met Office forecaster Jonathan Vautrey says the settled conditions are a result of the 'Azores High' where warm air arrives here from the South Atlantic via France. He said: "It's turning drier in the south west because we have high pressure beginning to build its way in from the Azores. 'While there is the possibility of fronts slipping into Scotland and Northern Ireland over the next few days, this high looks as if it will build in more widely across the UK, midweek onwards. 'That will lead to fewer showers, more sunny spells and also climbing temperatures.' American rapper 50 Cent is the headliner on Friday night and is expected to roll out hits such s In Da Club and Candy Shope. While the following night, Kilmarnock's own Biffy Clyro will top the bill while Ireland's Snow Patrol will close things the following night. Can you spend cash at TRNSMT and other festival FAQs answered
Plenty of festivals are card-only these days - but is TRNSMT? TRNSMT is kicking off next weekend, July 11 to July 13, with 150,000 festival-goers set to embark on a three-day stint of music, booze and general revelry. Headliners for this year's event include 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol. Artists like The Script, Gracie Abrams, and Fontaines D.C. will also be making an appearance at Glasgow Green over the weekend. But such a large event with so many attendees can easily turn hectic, so it's crucial to know what to expect ahead of the festival. One vital thing to be aware of is how you can pay for food and drink on the festival grounds, as many venues and events these days have opted to go completely cashless (especially after Covid). Here's everything you need to know. Can you spend cash at TRNSMT? Like many others these days, TRNSMT festival is completely cashless, meaning payments throughout the entire festival site can only be made via bank card or contactless device. So, if you're usually a cash person, do not forget to bring a contactless gadget such as your phone or smart watch, and bringing your bank card as a back-up wouldn't hurt either. Which items are allowed or forbidden in the TRNSMT site? Small bags, sun cream, and collapsible water bottles are allowed on the festival site. Power banks, hand sanitiser and lip balm are also permitted. However, chairs, large bottles, bags bigger than an A4 sheet of paper and external food and drink are not allowed to be brought into TRNSMT. What is the age limit to attend TRNSMT? All festival attendees must be a minimum of 16-years-old, and ID may be required upon entry to the site. A driving licence or provisional licence, or an ID with an intact PASS logo, such as a Young Scot Card, can be used as valid ID. Click here for all the age-limit details ahead of the festival. Can you leave and come back into the festival? Unfortunately, once you're in the festival grounds, you may not leave and re-enter, meaning that once you're in, you're in for the day. Of course, attendees may leave whenever they want, but once they have left the grounds, they can't come back in. What food will be available at the festival? A wide range of food and drink offerings will be available at the festival that cater to all dietary requirements. Click here for our full TRNSMT site food map, or here for a full list of all food vendors that will be setting up shop over next weekend. When does the box office open and are there physical tickets? The Box Office opens at 11am and closes at 9.30pm each day. All tickets to the event are mobile tickets that will appear on your Ticketmaster app a week before the festival.
