Rag Mayur, the accidental actor

Tell us how it all began. I started with theatre while juggling multiple roles — writing, directing, and even working as a film critic for six to seven years. I had all this energy and love for cinema but didn't know how to channel it. I was also working an IT job at the time. In 2016, I made a short film titled Rama Kanavemira, which unexpectedly went viral with over two million views. That gave me the clarity that acting was where I truly belonged. I stopped writing, focused on acting, joined theatre workshops, and began auditioning for films like Mahanati and Dear Comrade — wherever I saw potential in the directors. Then came Cinema Bandi. I first acted in the demo version, but usually, demo actors don't make it to the final film. Thankfully, Raj & DK insisted we continue and that became my first major break. The response was overwhelming. We got messages from Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka... we had to use Google Translate to read the reviews! It finally felt like I had arrived. You've often mentioned Tharun Bhascker as a dream collaborator in your earlier interviews. What was that experience like? None of my interviews are complete without mentioning Tharun Bhascker, and rightly so. Cinema Bandi brought a niche following, but Keedaa Cola made me recognisable even among auto drivers and cabbies. After Cinema Bandi, Tharun messaged me on Instagram and that alone felt surreal. I had auditioned for Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi and was rejected, but five years later, I got Keedaa Cola. He's incredibly humble, encouraging, and believes in creative freedom. After two ad films, he called me in for Keedaa Cola, and that became one of my most cherished projects.

Raj Nidimoru's Wife Shares Cryptic Post After Samantha Drops Pics With Filmmaker From Detroit Vacay: "Causing Pain..."

New Delhi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru are once again in the news, this time for their trip to Detroit. What's Happening Samantha recently shared a series of pictures on social media, featuring rumoured boyfriend Raj. In one of the pictures, the two are seen holding hands while crossing the street and sitting close to each other in a group. The pictures have sparked fresh rumours about their relationship. The photos drew several reactions from fans. Amid the buzz, Raj's wife Shhyamali De also shared a few cryptic posts on her Instagram Stories. Though the current status of Raj and Shhyamali's marriage remains unclear, her posts appeared to hint at the ongoing speculation. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Samantha (@samantharuthprabhuoffl) What Did Shhyamali De Post? One of her posts was titled, "Life's great golden rule." It included a list of religious teachings. The post read, "Brahmanism: This is the sum of duty. Do not unto others which would cause you pain if done to you. Buddhism: Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. It was followed by teachings from Christianity, Confucianism, Islam, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and Taoism - all centred around the themes of karma and not causing harm to others." She then posted another quote referencing Lord Krishna. It read, "Arjuna: 'If not victory nor defeat, then what matters?' Krishna: 'Dharma alone matters.'" Sharing the post, she wrote, "Wednesday Wisdom." This is not the first time Shhyamali has shared cryptic posts. Back in May, when Samantha had posted pictures with Raj to promote her first production venture Subham, Shhyamali's posts had also drawn attention. Background In her recent Detroit photo dump, Samantha included shots of herself at local eateries, posing in designer outfits for an event and exploring different spots in the city. Among them were the pictures with Raj that drew the most attention - one showed them walking hand-in-hand with a friend beside them, while another captured them seated next to each other in a group photo. So far, neither Samantha nor Raj has commented on the nature of their relationship. Raj Nidimoru is one half of the filmmaking duo Raj & DK and directed Samantha in the Amazon Prime series The Family Man. He and Shhyamali De have a daughter together. Her last post with Raj dates back to Valentine's Day 2023. Samantha was previously married to actor Naga Chaitanya. The two separated in 2021. In 2024, Naga Chaitanya married actor Sobhita Dhulipala.

Aditya Roy Kapur-Samantha Ruth Prabhu's show Rakt Brahmand is not shelved

Filmmaker duo Raj & DK's upcoming ambitious series Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom, starring Aditya Roy Kapur , Samantha Ruth Prabhu , Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi recently sparked rumours of being shelved. Responding to the speculation, Krishna DK firmly denied the reports, saying, 'We've completed the main portions and have begun rehearsals for the action sequences that are to be shot outdoors. Rakt Brahmand is our biggest show in terms of scale and scope, and there's no urgency to rush the shoot. We're waiting for the Mumbai rains to subside so we can continue filming in large outdoor locations, including expansive grounds and lush forests.' Offering a glimpse into the show's concept, Krishna added, 'It's a period drama set between the 10th and 12th centuries, but with a modern take. The lead cast is training for some intense action scenes. Unfortunately, the rains arrived earlier than expected, forcing us to adjust our schedule.' There were also recent rumours about another project helmed by them, Gulkanda Tales, starring Kunal Kemmu and Pankaj Tripathi, being cancelled. Krishna clarified, 'It's taking time because of the extensive VFX work involved. But we wouldn't be putting in so much effort if our shows were actually being cancelled.' The duo is also busy with other ventures. 'We're gearing up for the release of The Family Man 3 and writing our next film,' he said.
