It said the grizzly bear attacked a man around 11 a.m. Friday in a 'remote, fly-in location' about 110 kilometres west of Fort Nelson while he and others were working in the area. It said the man's injuries were not life-threatening. 'The victim noticed a grizzly bear and two cubs nearby just as the sow charged,' said the post on Facebook. 'The victim was bitten and scratched before the bear disengaged.' Others in the work group came to the victim's aid and he was flown to hospital for treatment. He has since been released. The rest of the group left the area for their safety. Conservation officers are investigating the attack, including an interview with the victim and a witness. They 'determined the attack was defensive in nature.' Because of that, and the fact the bear and cubs are in a remote area, there are no plans to try to catch or kill the grizzly. jruttle@ Read More Local News News News Entertainment News

China hit hard in Myanmar..., Karenni rebels shoot down 'made in China' fighter jet worth Rs 710000000 in..., Big blow for Beijing due to...

In the middle of Myanmar's ongoing civil war, China has suffered a major setback. A fighter jet made in China and used by Myanmar's ruling military (junta) has been shot down by local rebel fighters. The Karenni rebel group (KNDF) took down a Chinese FTC-2000G fighter jet near the town of Hpasang in Kayah State. This jet was part of the junta's efforts to protect its military bases, especially battalions 134 and 135, which were under rebel attack at the time. After shooting down the jet, the rebels showed its wreckage to the world. The remains of the fighter aircraft were found in a village in Myanmar's Bago region. Photos and videos of the wreckage were shared online by KNDF's Deputy Commander Mawi. In the video, the rebel fighters can be heard celebrating and thanking the Karenni Army for making this possible in Kayah State. They see it as a big success in their fight against the junta. Meanwhile, Myanmar's military has admitted that one of its jets went missing about 130 kilometers from the capital, but they claimed it may have been due to bad weather or a technical problem and not due to enemy fire. This incident is a big blow to both the Myanmar junta and China, which has been supplying weapons to Myanmar and several of India's neighboring countries.

CAPAS CITY - President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr. on Wednesday witnessed the destruction of P9,484,134,038.62 worth of dangerous drugs at the Clean Leaf International Corporation in Tarlac province. Together with the president was Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla. Among the illegal drugs destroyed were the 1,304.604 kilograms of floating packs of shabu, which have an estimated value of P8,871,307,200.00. These floating shabu were recovered by local fishermen off the waters of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Cagayan. Meanwhile, PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez said the destruction activity was in response to the President's order to destroy all illegal drugs as quickly as possible with nothing spared. 'The destruction process was made in full transparency and in compliance with the requirements of the law on the custody and disposition of seized dangerous drugs. PDEA kept under close watch until the drugs were completely reduced to ashes,' Nerez said in a separate press release. When it comes to the recovered floating shabu where no person is arrested and no criminal case was lodged; the drugs were destroyed on account of a sworn certification issued by the Director General pursuant to Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 1 Series of 2002. —KG, GMA Integrated News
