Boxing world champion clarifies Angel Reese comments with 'hate' admission
The 30-year-old boxing star was brutally snubbed at the recent 2025 BET Awards as she was pipped by Chicago Sky WNBA sensation Angel Reese Boxing star Claressa Shields has clarified her comments about Angel Reese after being snubbed for the BET Sportswoman of the Year award. Earlier this month, Chicago Sky WNBA sensation Reese picked up the honour at the awards in Los Angeles, California - marking the third time she has picked up the coveted prize. At 23, Reese is widely regarded as one of the biggest names in women's basketball. Shields was one of the other nominees for the prestigious award. And after being rebuffed of the award, the 30-year-old was far from impressed and took to social media to express her views. Taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - she posted: "Still don't know how I didn't win the Sportswoman of the Year for the @BETAwards but Congrats to Angel Reese and all the other Nominees. I just thought accolades mattered." She added: "Ain't nobody saying Angel Reese don't have accolades or she not good…. I'm saying I thought the person with 'THE MOST' accolades & accomplishments would win the Award. I'm team Angel Reese!" Last year, Shields won the WBC, and vacant WBF female heavyweight and WBO female light heavyweight titles with a stoppage win over Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse. Shields then followed it up with a win over Danielle Perkins to win the IBF, WBO and inaugural WBA female heavyweight titles. She seemingly thought her recent accolades would be enough to pip Reese to the award. Shields received some backlash for her posts. However, the boxing superstar was quick to address her comments and express her adoration for Reese during an interview with Brandon Robinson. 'I'm not angry or salty or any of that,' she said. 'I was just shocked." She further clarified: 'I've won the Women's Sports Foundation Award for Sportswoman of the Year three times—more than any other woman. I think Serena Williams won it twice. "I went to the ESPYs as the only female boxer to ever win Best Boxer. I have a Nickelodeon award. I mean, I have all these things that I've won. So I thought that would mean finally getting some recognition with BET.' It is evident the American has a lot of respect for Reese - despite clearly thinking she was more deserving of winning the aforementioned award. 'Anything that we do—good, bad—we say something, wear something; they're all down our throats," she continued. "Grown men, grown women constantly judging us, trolling us, trying to break our will and make us not be confident. And I think we both experience that. Being Black women, they attack us every single day. When I see her getting it and I go through it myself, I'm clapping for myself and clapping for her, because she just keeps going. I actually hate that it looks like I joined the Angel Reese hate train.' She later added: "I hate that it actually looks like I joined the Angel Reese hate train. It's like no, listen, I'm with you. f*** them... I'm not allowed to be a competitor? That's what we are. We are female athletes. We are competitors... But I really do hate how they tried to pin us against each other. Listen, I'm an Angel Reese fan. I'm not a hater of her."

Kai Cenat Blames His Age On Wale Ignorance, X Not Convinced: 'I'm Young!'
Source: Kayla Oaddams / Getty Streamer Kai Cenat and rapper Wale found themselves in 2025-worthy non-controversy during and after the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night (June 9). After Kai ran into Wale but had seemingly had no idea who he was, he says to blame his youth, not his heart, basically. As previously reported, Wale was playing on his Nintendo Switch and ran into Kai Cenat. But, while streaming live, Kai asked 'What he do?' and had to be hipped that it was a rapper, while also mispronouncing said MC's name. Social media loves a controversy and the chirping commenced, but Wale added gas to the moment by later approaching Kai on quiet (not really), and saying their previous hallway interactions was making him look 'crazy.' However, Kai was mic'd up and the audio came in crystal clear to the entire world. Add Wale's alleged history of 'sensitivity' to the mix and a faux-controversy was launched. Fast forward to Thursday (June 12), and Kai Cenat is claiming it's his age that caused the Wale ignorance. 'I'ma go ahead and say to Wale, umm, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal, ya feel me…how can you blame me from just being who I am? You feel me? I'm young!,' said Kai on his chat. After proceeding to play Wale's hit with Miguel 'Lotus Flower Bomb,' Kai added, after noting he knows the song, '2011? I was nine years old.' Many people pointed to Kai's youth off the rip. But many are also unconvinced, considering being aware of pop culture goes with his streamer lifestyle/gig. But also, as Wale has noted, they have met and interacted before. Also, if Kai is into J. Cole and Drake as he has claimed, how are you not familiar with Wale? All that to say, expect Wale to be streaming with Kai Cenat before the summer is up. Probably. Are you buying what Kai Cenat is selling? Check out reactions in the gallery. GloRilla Suits Up for ‘Let Her Cook' & ‘Typa' With Keyshia Cole at 2025 BET Awards
GloRilla put on a great two-song set at the 2025 BET Awards, as she was dressed like Michael Jackson in the 'Smooth Criminal' video in the front and dressed as Prince at the 1991 MTV VMAs in the back. The first song she performed was her hit single 'Let Her Cook' as a kitchen crew cheffed up behind her and she put in some choreography work. She then took a quick intermission to do a tap dance number and finished the song before putting on a white fur coat to play the piano as Keyshia Cole sat down to perform her hit 'Love' as a lead-in to Glo's latest single 'Typa,' which samples the record. Jamie Foxx received the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards in true legend fashion. The 57-year-old shared gratitude for the network and the 'Black award' on stage on Monday night from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, accepting the prestigious honor from Stevie Wonder. 'I cannot even begin to express the love that I feel from everybody out there,' expressed the comedian to a standing ovation. He continued, 'And I promised, 'whatever reason you put this on me, I promise imma do right and imma do right in front of y'all. I know a lot of times when we get on, we forget about where we come from. When I did my special, it was in front of Black people. Black people was the one who said, 'I got you.'' The 'Unpredictable' singer continued to elaborate on his love for his Black audience and the BET network. 'I say this all the time, thank you to Black people and the Black award, because this is what really counts. And that's coming from a person who won an Oscar, I was nominated twice, but the Icon Award is the most important award because it comes from us.' Ahead of the emotional acceptance speech, Foxx's musical collaborators, peers, and more united to honor him on stage with a medley of his fan-favorite records.
