Tyla drops new summer anthem 'Is It' as second solo release of 2025
South African pop sensation Tyla has officially released her latest single, 'Is It,' which dropped on Friday, July 11. The upbeat track, featuring breezy vocals and rhythmic chanting, marks her second solo release of the year—following the success of 'Bliss'—and arrives just in time to soundtrack the summer. A teaser posted to Instagram earlier this week gave fans a preview of the chorus: 'Is it wrong that I wanna get right/ Wanna get right with you?' The playful line, paired with vibrant production, has already made waves across social media. Speaking to Billboard ahead of her hosting duties at the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards, where she also won Favorite Global Music Star, Tyla remained tight-lipped about her upcoming music. 'You guys are gonna know when you'll know. And it's gonna be a vibe,' she said. She also shared her excitement about contributing to the Smurfs movie soundtrack with the track 'Everything Goes With Blue,' praising Rihanna's role as Smurfette. 'Is It' follows 'Bliss,' which reached No. 11 on Billboard's Hot R&B Songs and No. 14 on Rhythmic Airplay. Tyla first teased the new single during her debut Coachella performance in April, where she also performed her Billboard Global 200 top 10 hit 'Show Me Love' alongside fellow South African rapper WizTheMC. While there's no confirmation yet on whether 'Is It' or 'Bliss' will appear on her anticipated sophomore album, Tyla told Billboard earlier this year that her new music reflects both artistic and personal growth: 'It's different, but still Tyla.' Several fans were asking for help across social media to encourage Clark to receive more votes. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark was named an All-Star, a member of the All-Rookie Team and the All-WNBA First Team, the WNBA Rookie of the Year and led the league in assists (337). The new track 'Always Love (featuring Hyunjin of Stray Kids),' was officially released at midnight on Friday. Even before the collaboration was confirmed, the two artists had been exchanging support via social media, heightening fans' anticipation for a potential team-up. "Always Love" is a heartfelt track that captures the emotions of affirming love for someone special. d4vd's signature dreamy soundscapes are layered with Hyunjin's gentle, emotive vocals, creating a poignant listening experience. Hyunjin's group Stray Kids continues to solidify its presence as a one of the top global acts. Most recently, the group took home the 'Favorite Music Group' award at the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards held in Los Angeles on Saturday — the second time a K-pop artist has won at the awards ceremony. The Grammy Award-winning singer served as the host for the evening's proceedings. For one of her many looks during the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards, Tyla wore a strapless minidress courtesy of Roberto Cavalli's spring 2006 ready-to-wear collection. Her dress featured a subtle high-low skirt with layers of draped fabric and a flowing silhouette and cascading ruffles. It included an ombre colorway quality, with the strapless look transitioning from an orange tone to bright yellow. Last April, the singer was announced as the latest brand ambassador for Pandora, with a fresh campaign and curated collection highlighting some of the singer's favorite pieces. 'Partnering with Pandora is such an exciting thing to do. I've always found their jewelry so fun to style because you can create your own unique pieces of jewelry,' Tyla said of the collaboration in a statement. 'It reminds me so much of home because mom always made jewelry, and the birthstone charms remind me of the beads I used to have lying around in my house growing up. Whenever our mother wanted us not to bother her, she'd give us a big container of beads and my sisters and I would make friendship bracelets all day.
