You Can Now Buy Tickets for Angel Studios' Founding Father Biopic ‘Young Washington' Before It's Even Shot

If you haven't already, today is a great time to figure out what movie you want to see over the Fourth of July weekend and buy your tickets. And if you've already locked down your seats for 'F1' or '40 Acres' this weekend, why not buy some movie tickets for July 4th, 2026? Angel Studios has announced that its upcoming film 'Young Washington,' a biopic about America's first president from 'House of David' creator and 'Jesus Revolution' director Jon Erwin, will patriotically roll into theaters on America's 250th birthday. The faith-based media company and 'Sound of Freedom' distributor, which is co-producing the film with Wonder Project, already has tickets available for purchase through its ticketing platform on More from IndieWire Brad Pitt Says His Generation of Actors Were 'More Uptight': 'You Didn't Sell Out' with Franchises On and Off the Track, 'F1' Cinematographer Claudio Miranda Kept the Camera on the Limit The studio is so excited about the project that tickets went on sale before a single camera rolled on the film. Production on 'Young Washington' is expected to begin later this summer, with no word yet on who will be cast as George Washington. 'Our shared commitment to inspirational, powerful storytelling made 'Young Washington' an easy project to partner on with Wonder,' Angel Studios president Jordan Harmon said in a statement. 'George Washington helped shape our nation and so many of the American values we hold dear. I can't imagine a more meaningful way to celebrate America's 250th birthday than by watching this adaptation of such a pivotal period in his young life.' 'I've dreamed of telling the powerful origin story of George Washington for nearly a decade. It's a story of a true pioneer, which makes it the perfect project to partner on with the pioneers at Angel and their world-class distribution network,' Erwin said. ''Young Washington' isn't just a film — it's a celebration of the American spirit and the miracle of the forging of our nation.' No showtimes or theater locations have been announced yet, so the tickets available to purchase today merely guarantee you a seat at a showing near you, with the promise of a refund if you end up being too far away from one. Purchasers will be able to select specific showtimes and seats closer to the release date. The early ticket sales are being marketed as a way for diehard Angel fans to ensure that the film opens in as many theaters as possible. And as an added bonus for those still on the fence, purchasing tickets enters you in a contest to win a Ford F-250 pickup truck. Donald Trump to visit Iowa State Fairgrounds in July to kick off America's 250th birthday

Republican President Donald Trump will visit Iowa in July to kick off the celebration of America's 250th birthday, marking his first visit to the first-in-the-nation GOP caucus state since his return to the White House. Trump is slated to deliver a speech at 7:30 p.m. July 3 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, his campaign announced in an email Friday, June 20. Trump last attended the Iowa State Fair in August 2023 in the leadup to Iowa's 2024 Republican presidential caucuses. His private jet buzzed over the fairgrounds, and he drew large crowds as he made his way from the Iowa Pork Producers tent to the Animal Learning Center. Trump won the 2024 caucuses with a historically large margin. And Iowa again delivered him a victory in November as he campaigned against Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the general election. In 2023, Trump called for Americans to start "preparing for the most spectacular birthday party" ahead of the country's 250th birthday in 2026. He proposed a year-long celebration for all 50 states running from Memorial Day 2025 to July 4, 2026. He said the Iowa State Fair should feature prominently. "My hope is that the amazing people of Iowa will work with my administration to open up the legendary Iowa State Fairgrounds to host the great American state fair and welcome millions and millions of visitors from around the world to the heartland of America for this special one-time festival," Trump said in the 2023 video. When the video recirculated in 2024, Iowa's Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds said the state would welcome the opportunity. "We know the Iowa State Fair is the best fair in the country!" Reynolds posted on X. "In Iowa, we dream big, and we stand ready to host the Great American State Fair!" Jeremy Parsons, CEO of the Iowa State Fair, said in a Friday statement that America 250 had contacted the fair, "regarding a potential event with the President on July 3 at the Fairgrounds. At this time, no additional details have been confirmed.' Brianne Pfannenstiel is the chief politics reporter for the Des Moines Register. Reach her at bpfann@ or 515-284-8244. 'No Kings Day' in Jacksonville: See live coverage from national day of defiance

As thousands of U.S. troops and their tanks and armored vehicles will make their way down the streets of Washington, D.C., on June 14 for a parade celebrating the U.S. Army's 250th birthday, protesters in Jacksonville and across the nation are taking to the streets of their communities to rally against President Donald Trump, who will celebrate his 79th birthday the same day. "No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we're taking action to reject authoritarianism — and show the world what democracy really looks like," the movement's website says. Adding, "On June 14th, we're showing up everywhere he isn't — to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings." And that includes Florida. Of more than 70 "No Kings" protests scheduled across Florida on June 14, at least four are planned for the Jacksonville area. More on planned protests: What is No Kings day? The first demonstration will begin with a 90-minute protest at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Hodges Boulevard, followed by a second protest at the Duval County Courthouse, located at 501 W. Adams Street. Two additional protests will be held in Orange Park and St. Johns County, both starting at 10 a.m. and concluding by noon. Organizers say the protests are a stand against authoritarianism, promoting the message: "In America, we don't put up with would-be kings," and rallying behind the slogan, "No thrones, no crowns, no kings." : 9 to 10:30 a.m. : 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Blanding Boulevard & Kingsely Avenue in Orange Park: 10 a.m. to noon U.S. 1 & Race Track Road in St. Johns County: 10 to 11:45 a.m. The protests are all intended to be peaceful, in line with the values of the 50501 movement. Organizers emphasize on their website that all events are rooted in nonviolence and ask every participant to commit to peaceful action and de-escalation, even in the face of opposition. The website also advises against bringing weapons into the protest. Indivisible is partnering with 50501 and dozens of other advocacy groups to promote the anti-Trump movement nationwide. Indivisible, a grassroots political activism group focused on progressive causes, was founded in response to Trump's 2016 presidential election. The network has branched into a statewide network of groups, including over 75 in Florida. The 50501 Movement is a grassroots initiative formed on Reddit under the hashtag #50501 in the early days of Trump's second inauguration. It stands for 50 protests in 50 states on 1 day, which has since evolved to 50 states, 50 protests, and one movement. For those wanting to watch the military parade, the D.C. military procession will take place on Saturday, June 14, spanning six blocks through the heart of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and highlights from the U.S. Army's 250th birthday celebration, including the parade, will be live-streamed on all U.S. Army social media platforms.
