You Can Now Buy Tickets for Angel Studios' Founding Father Biopic ‘Young Washington' Before It's Even Shot

Yahoo15 hours ago
If you haven't already, today is a great time to figure out what movie you want to see over the Fourth of July weekend and buy your tickets. And if you've already locked down your seats for 'F1' or '40 Acres' this weekend, why not buy some movie tickets for July 4th, 2026?
Angel Studios has announced that its upcoming film 'Young Washington,' a biopic about America's first president from 'House of David' creator and 'Jesus Revolution' director Jon Erwin, will patriotically roll into theaters on America's 250th birthday. The faith-based media company and 'Sound of Freedom' distributor, which is co-producing the film with Wonder Project, already has tickets available for purchase through its ticketing platform on Angel.com.

The studio is so excited about the project that tickets went on sale before a single camera rolled on the film. Production on 'Young Washington' is expected to begin later this summer, with no word yet on who will be cast as George Washington.
'Our shared commitment to inspirational, powerful storytelling made 'Young Washington' an easy project to partner on with Wonder,' Angel Studios president Jordan Harmon said in a statement. 'George Washington helped shape our nation and so many of the American values we hold dear. I can't imagine a more meaningful way to celebrate America's 250th birthday than by watching this adaptation of such a pivotal period in his young life.'
'I've dreamed of telling the powerful origin story of George Washington for nearly a decade. It's a story of a true pioneer, which makes it the perfect project to partner on with the pioneers at Angel and their world-class distribution network,' Erwin said. ''Young Washington' isn't just a film — it's a celebration of the American spirit and the miracle of the forging of our nation.'
No showtimes or theater locations have been announced yet, so the tickets available to purchase today merely guarantee you a seat at a showing near you, with the promise of a refund if you end up being too far away from one. Purchasers will be able to select specific showtimes and seats closer to the release date.
The early ticket sales are being marketed as a way for diehard Angel fans to ensure that the film opens in as many theaters as possible. And as an added bonus for those still on the fence, purchasing tickets enters you in a contest to win a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

Horror Icons Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley Team Up for Supernatural Slasher COVET — GeekTyrant

Two of horror's most recognizable faces are finally colliding in a new blood-soaked nightmare. Kane Hodder, the stuntman and actor who famously played Jason Voorhees in four Friday the 13th films, and Bill Moseley, the twisted face of The Devil's Rejects and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 , are joining forces for a new horror-thriller titled Covet . The film comes from writer-director Brian McQuery, whose debut feature Plea starred horror royalty Heather Langenkamp. Covet is described as a supernatural whodunnit with a sinister twist: 'When a sleazy car salesman is framed for the murder of his mistress, he must prove his innocence — only to learn the forces responsible may not be human.' McQuery seems ready to tap deep into genre roots while playing to his stars' strengths. The director said: 'I'm thrilled to work with Kane in a role crafted to take advantage of both his intimidating presence and sense of humor. And I can not wait to see what Bill Moseley will do with his portrayal of Sheriff Troy.' Covet is being produced by Spyder Dobrofsky under his Worlds Apart banner. Dobrofsky has been steadily carving out a space in indie horror, having recently produced The Weeping , featuring Doug Jones and Reggie Lee, and directed Down Below , starring Eric Roberts and Bai Ling. Dobrofsky is clearly banking on horror fan fervor with this cast: 'Icons Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley sharing the screen together, with Brian's wildly original script, is exactly the type of horror we've been looking for at Worlds Apart. 'We couldn't be more excited to bring Brian's vision to life, and give the horror audience the chills, scares, and nostalgia they love so much.' Both Hodder and Moseley come with serious slasher legacy credentials. Beyond his Friday the 13th legacy, Hodder terrified audiences as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet franchise. Moseley, meanwhile, remains a fan-favorite for his absolutely unhinged turns as Chop Top in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Otis Driftwood in Rob Zombie's film universe. They most recently starred together in the horror film Hayride To Hell . Source: Variety

IRONHEART Fans Say It's 'One of the Best Marvel TV Shows' and Demand a Season 2 After That Wild Cliffhanger — GeekTyrant

Marvel's Ironheart has wrapped its first season on Disney+, and social media is on fire with praise… and panic. Why panic? Because Ironheart ended on a hell of a cliffhanger, and we have no idea if Marvel will continue the story. Spoilers Ahead! The final episode, titled 'The Past Is the Past', doesn't just deliver a standout battle between Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) and Parker Robbins aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos), it also introduced the long-rumored MCU devil himself, Mephisto, and fans aren't handling it calmly. In the final minutes, Riri successfully separates Parker from his possessed cloak, but before she can catch a break, she's face to face with Mephisto in human form. He plays it smooth, preys on her grief, and by the look of it, convinces her to make a deal. The last shot? Riri hugging her best friend Natalie (Lyric Ross), who appears to be alive again, and showing off markings similar to the ones that corrupted Parker. Yeah. That's not ominous at all. Naturally, fans exploded on social media. "THAT ENDING ARE YOU KIDDING ME???" tweeted one disturbed viewer. "I need Marvel to greenlight season 2 as soon as humanly possible because you can't just have Riri make a deal with the devil like that and not promise me a follow up." Another fan said: "Ironheart is one of the best tv shows Marvel has made FIGHT WITH A WALL I DON'T CARE. Riri, you will forever be loved. AND FINALLY GETTING MEPHISTO???? oh we're so back and I will be expecting a season 2." Others echoed the sentiment with enthusiasm and heartfelt pleading: "Day one asking Marvel for [an] Ironheart season 2 and Strange Academy show sequel who's with me." And one viewer said: "There's a lot of spoilers with the second half of Ironheart so I'm not going to go into specifics, but PLEASE just give this show a shot. It finally avoids the MCU show problem of a rushed/poor finale and is a great time. Just please Marvel don't leave these storylines to die..." A lot of Fans begging for that second season! Ironheart's ending launched a whole new path forward, one that could redefine magic in the MCU. The only question now is: Will Marvel follow through? I can't say that I'm as enthusisatic about the show as these Marvel fans. But hey! A lot of people enjoyed what Marvel delivered! What did you think? Here are a few more reactions.

Inglewood — Neighborhood Review

Let's start big picture. What's the vibe here? Los Angeles' Inglewood is pulsing. On game day and concert nights, the town lights up big time and attracts people from all over. But the vibe goes deeper than the stadium and the concert venue. It's a historically Black and Hispanic/Latino neighborhood with deep cultural roots. There are tons of homegrown businesses and eateries that have been around for generations, perfect for a pre-concert meal. Check out Dulan's on Crenshaw, one of the best spots in the city, for a hearty meal of smothered chicken, candied yams, and mac & cheese. The community is proud, close-knit, and evolving with longtime residents and new transplants negotiating rapid development together, so be cognizant of that. Any standout features or must-sees? There is some very cool art around SoFi Stadium, including two sizable sculptures by LA artist Alison Saar, colorful murals by Jocelyn Tsaih, Amir Fallah, and Calida Rawles, and a 'Love' sculpture by Ruben Rojas in Rams colors that is a popular selfie stop. On special occasions, the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection can be viewed in the stadium's concourse. And don't miss the opportunity to stroll around Lake Park outside the stadium with its giant, Seussian aloe trees and layered pathways designed to resemble a natural cliffside descent. The Kia Forum doesn't have as many sites, but the building itself is of interest. Designed as a mini Romanesque coliseum, the Forum features bold white columns and a vivid red exterior—a blend of classical grandeur and midcentury-modern style. Was it easy to get around? SoFi and the Kia Forum are walking distance, so it's easy to get around. It can get a bit backed up in the parking lot during events, so showing up early is recommended. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? This corner of Inglewood is perfect for the kind of person who wants to be able to say 'I saw it live' and actually mean it. Think superfans and those who get chills waiting for the kickoff of a big game.
