Brunei Sultan thanks Malaysian medical team for exemplary care
KUALA LUMPUR: Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei has expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the excellent service and dedication shown by the Malaysian medical team directly involved in his recent healthcare treatment. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared this following his telephone conversation with His Majesty, during which he inquired about the Sultan's health after receiving medical care in Malaysia. 'Alhamdulillah, His Majesty's health condition is reported to be improving and continues to be closely monitored by the medical team, including Malaysian healthcare personnel,' Anwar wrote in a Facebook post today. Anwar said that during the conversation, they also discussed the positive progress in bilateral relations between Malaysia and Brunei, which remain strong, as well as ongoing regional developments within ASEAN. 'I pray for the continued health, well-being, and Divine protection of His Majesty and the entire Bruneian royal family,' Anwar added. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah arrived in Malaysia on May 25 to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 26 and 27. Following the summit, His Majesty was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for five days from May 27 due to fatigue, and continued resting at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur before returning to Bandar Seri Begawan on June 3.

Aviation Experts Convene In Penang For ASEAN Aviation Sustainability Workshop
BUSINESS GEORGE TOWN, June 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 88 aviation experts from the region and Europe gathered here for the ASEAN Workshop on Aviation Sustainability - Operational Improvements and Efficiency Gains to discuss various aviation-related topics, including a focus on carbon emission measurements and airspace efficiency. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) hosted the three-day workshop with support from other relevant agencies. AirAsia chief sustainability officer Yap Mun Ching said the workshop gathered aviation stakeholders from across ASEAN to explore innovative strategies to achieve net-zero emissions and to address the growing industry demand for greater collaboration between regulators and airlines. 'For us as airlines, we have to work with all the regulators to implement our net-zero strategies. One of the things we requested from CAAM and EASA was support for a workshop to explore how to improve our measurement of carbon emissions and implement new technologies, as well as to learn from Europe's emissions mitigation plans for our airspace. 'A lot of times when you talk about aviation sustainability, you hear people talking about things like sustainable aviation fuels, maybe carbon offsetting, but the core of it is how efficiently you operate,' she told Bernama at the workshop's reception here tonight. Yap also noted airlines are now looking to push further through innovation and closer coordination with air traffic management and air traffic control services. Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai graced the reception. It was attended by the CAAM deputy chief executive officer (regulator) Captain Md Jani Md Dom. Malaysia is the ASEAN chair in 2025. It recently hosted the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits from May 23-26 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all parties involved in the successful organisation of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA'25) and the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits last month. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is also MADANI Government spokesperson, said Anwar conveyed the appreciation message during today's Cabinet meeting, describing both events as historic milestones for Malaysia. 'The Prime Minister deeply values the efforts of all personnel and teams involved in organising LIMA'25 in Langkawi, as well as the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, at the end of May. 'Most heads of state and government leaders expressed their satisfaction with the warm hospitality and thorough preparations by Malaysia as the host,' Fahmi said at his weekly press conference. Fahmi said that the Prime Minister is currently considering appropriate forms of recognition to honour the dedication and commitment shown by all parties involved, with a formal announcement to be made in due course. 'Insya-Allah, several options are being considered, and we leave it to the Prime Minister to make the official announcement,' he said. LIMA'25 in Langkawi gathered 860 exhibitors from 24 countries, comprising 426 international and 434 local companies. Themed 'Today's Innovation, Tomorrow's Achievements', this year's edition was the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in Southeast Asia since LIMA's inception in 1991. In Kuala Lumpur, apart from the 46th ASEAN Summit, two high-level meetings were also successfully held last month, namely the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the first ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. The inaugural trilateral summit between ASEAN, GCC and China, which was also attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, not only marked a new chapter of strategic ties but also showcased Malaysia's commitment to enhancing regional economic cooperation. The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Fahmi noted that the successful organisation of LIMA'25 and the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits forms a strong foundation for Malaysia's hosting of the 47th ASEAN Summit in October under its 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability'.
