Mia Farrow recalls abruptly leaving ‘strange' Joan Crawford's apartment: ‘I was scared'
Mia Farrow was not a fan of Joan Crawford. In a new Interview magazine piece, Farrow, 80, spoke to fellow Broadway star Cole Escola about Crawford, calling the 'Our Dancing Daughters' actress 'scary.' Getty Images The 'Alice' star recalled that she interacted with Crawford as a teenager while filming 'Peyton Place' on the Fox lot in California. At the time, Crawford — who was almost 40 years older than Farrow — was married to Pepsi-Cola president Alfred Steele. 'For whatever reason, she started sending a whole refrigerator of Pepsi Cola for my trailer 'cause I was in a TV series called 'Peyton Place,'' Farrow explained. 'I don't particularly like Pepsi Cola, but a lot of Pepsi Cola kept coming to my trailer, more than anyone would ever want. Getty Images Farrow described another weird moment with Crawford at her mother Maureen O'Sullivan's house in New York. 'So I'm back in New York, and she knew my mother. I hung up people's coats for my mom when they came into the house,' Farrow shared. 'And I hung her coat and out falls a flask of alcohol. She grabbed it like that, and she put it in her handbag. Getty Images Additionally, Farrow recalled that she was 17 she had an unpleasant experience at Crawford's NYC apartment. 'I thought it was a party, but I arrived, and I was the only one there,' Farrow said, adding, 'I was 17, and everything was green in her apartment. 'And I just wasn't very comfortable. So I just made up a lie that I wasn't feeling very well and I didn't want to give her any diseases. I think I said the word 'diseases' as I walked out of the room. I was scared of Ms. Crawford.' Crawford died in May 1977. 'B.D. betrayed her mother in a horrible way, wrote a trashy book and stuff,' said Farrow. 'So we've known each other since childhood but I lost all respect for her. I really loved her mother, by the way.'

It was death of a friendship on the Iberian Peninsula. Mia Farrow, 80, is getting candid on Bette Davis' daughter, B.D. Hyman's 1985 memoir, 'My Mother's Keeper.' '[Bette] had worked with my father when I was 12, and we were all in Spain, and she had a very disagreeable daughter named B.D. who was my age,' Farrow recounted. 'And Bette wanted to take her to every village and museum, but she didn't want to go anywhere. We were all staying in the same hotel. I, on the other hand, could barely not raise my hand to say, 'Can I come?'' Reflecting on the book years later, the actress, who starred in the 1978 film 'Death on the Nile' with Davis, stated that 'B.D. betrayed her mother in a horrible way, wrote a trashy book and stuff. 'I could have written the manuscript and sent it to Mother and not published it. She wouldn't have read it,' she continued. 'She won't listen to anything she doesn't want to hear. She hangs up the phone or walks out the door. So I went the only route I felt would reach her: the public forum. What is seen by the world is the most important thing to Mother. This is essentially a public letter to my mother.' 'The sum total of your having written this book is a glaring lack of loyalty and thanks for the very privileged life I feel you have been given,' Davis penned. 'I hope someday I will understand the title 'My Mother's Keeper.' If it refers to money, if my memory serves me right, I've been your keeper all these many years. I am continuing to do so, as my name has made your book about me a success.' Getty Images 'I wouldn't piss on Joan Crawford if she were on fire,' Davis once stated. The two stars had a decades-long feud brought on by both professional and personal issues with one another. Crawford died in 1977. One moment in particular was in 1935 when Davis fell in love with her 'Dangerous' co-star Franchot Tone. Unfortunately, Crawford got to him first. George Clooney roasts his brunette hair: 'Midlife crisis'
It'll be one fine day for George Clooney when he can go back to his roots. The actor, 64, isn't thrilled about dyeing his hair brunette for his Broadway play 'Good Night, and Good Luck' — and will return to silver fox status when the takes his final bow on June 8. 8 George Clooney on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.' It's still dark on top, but it's gray at the bottom,' he confessed while on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' on Monday. 'So you get that really nice-looking grow-out of gray.' Clooney wore a hat on the show, telling Myers, 51, he wanted to 'hide' his hair transformation. 'The last show is Sunday,' he added. 'We do a matinee, and then by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it'll be gone.' 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' which opened on April 3, marked Clooney's first time on Broadway as he portrays Edward R. Murrow, the journalist who wrote the 1954 exposé piece on Senator Joseph McCarthy. The play is adapted from the 2005 movie of the same name. The show nabbed several nominations at the 2025 Tony Awards, including Clooney garnering a nod for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. The production is also up for Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Sound Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play and Best Costume Design of a Play. In March, Clooney reflected on playing Fred Friendly 20 years ago. 'Murrow had a gravitas to him that at 42 years old I didn't,' he said while on 60 Minutes. It's nerve-wracking and there's a million reasons why it's dumb to do.' 'When I was 12 years old, my dad was working at WKRC in Cincinnati,' the star reflected. 'I would run the teleprompter.' Having it be his first time in live theater, Clooney stated about the audience, 'I'm not looking at them.' He teased: 'I'm putting my wife in the very, very, very back.'
