Tommy Wirkola Returning to Direct ‘Violent Night 2' (Exclusive)
Tommy Wirkola is back in the sleigh for Violent Night 2, the sequel to its Christmas-themed action movie released in 2022, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The studio on Wednesday dated the sequel for a Dec. 4, 2026 unwrapping. Wirkola's previous credits include the Norwegian horror hit Dead Snow and relationship action comedy The Trip. In 2022, the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter he and the writers were already talking of a sequel that could incorporate ideas they couldn't fit into the first movie. 'We don't see the North Pole, we don't see Mrs. Claus and we don't see the elves,' Wirkola said. 'There were also a few ideas that we loved in the script, but we had to cut them because we couldn't afford to shoot them.' Wirkola is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment. David Leitch Is Going Into Battle Directing ‘Gears of War'
The 'John Wick' filmmaker has signed on to helm the movie based on the hit Xbox video game franchise. Netflix's long-anticipated film adaptation of Xbox's premier video game franchise, Gears of War, is finally gathering some momentum. Filmmaker David Leitch (The Fall Guy) has signed on to helm the blockbuster take on the Gears of War game series for Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that he and his production company 87North will be partnering up with the Coalition Studio, the video game's developers, for the movie. The script will be written by Dune scribe Jon Spaihts. The game is based in a universe where the planet Sera is close to total societal collapse and humanity faces a new monstrous threat: the Locust. The franchise follows the Delta Squad, a regiment under the command of Sergeant Marcus Fenix, who hopes to clear his name and the ragtag army by taking on the threat through gratuitous chainsaw-gunning. They're humanity's last line of defense against invasion. Netflix has had the rights to make the games into a franchise since 2022. Leitch's involvement begs the question if some of his frequent actor collaborators might take part in the action. The film follows Netflix's past video game adaptations which include Castlevania, Sonic Prime, and the upcoming Resident Evil and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Nobody 2 Trailer: Bob Odenkirk's Vacation Gets Very Violent
Universal Pictures has shared the official trailer for the highly-anticipated action thriller, which serves as the sequel to the Bob Odenkirk-led 2021movie. The upcoming movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 15. 'Four years after he inadvertently took on the Russian mob, Hutch remains $30 million in debt to the criminal organization and is working it off with an unending string of hits on international thugs,' reads the official synopsis. 'Much as he likes the slam-bang action of his 'job,' Hutch and his wife Becca find themselves overworked and drifting apart. So, they decide to take their kids on a short getaway to Wild Bill's Majestic Midway and Waterpark, the one and only place where Hutch and his brother Harry went on a vacation as kids. With Hutch's dad in tow, the family arrives in the small tourist town of Plummerville, eager for some fun in the sun.' Nobody 2 is directed by Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto from a screenplay written by John Wick franchise creator Derek Kolstad, Odenkirk, Aaron Rabin, and Umair Aleem. It is produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North, Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero for Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, and Braden Aftergood for Eighty Two Films. During its theatrical run, the first installment received positive reviews from critics. It also earned a worldwide gross of over $57 million against a reported budget of around $16 million. Washington [US], May 13 (ANI): Actress and filmmaker Zoe Kravitz has joined the cast of David Leitch's next movie 'How To Rob a Bank'. She is reuniting with her 'Mad Max: Fury Road' co-star Nicholas Hoult, who is also on board to star. Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson and Rhenzy Feliz are also on board. The picture, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Pete Davidson, and Anna Sawai, has a plot that's largely under wraps, but it involves smart bank robbers who share their heists on social media while evading police, as per Deadline. The film Leitch is directing will be released in theatres on September 4, 2026. Leitch and Kelly McCormick's 87 North is producing with Imagine Entertainment. The duo will produce alongside Imagine's Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum. Mark Bianculli (Hunters, upcoming Cliffhanger reboot) wrote the script and will also executive produce, reported Deadline. Besides Hoult, this also marks a reunion between Kravitz and Amazon MGM, where she helmed Blink Twice, which marked her directorial debut. The film earned strong reviews and put Kravitz on the map as a director, as per the outlet. Meanwhile, Zoe is in talks to direct 'How to Save a Marriage' for Sony Pictures. Ross Evans penned the script, and Robert Pattinson is producing with partner Brighton McCloskey via their Icki Eneo Arlo banner along with Geoff Shaevitz and Evan Silverberg via Entertainment 360, reported Deadline.
