Eminem Wanted Mariah Carey To Play A Specific Role In ‘8 Mile' Which Sparked Their Rumored Romance

Long before Eminem and Mariah Carey dissed one another, they were rumored to have dated. Her producer, Damizza, recently revealed that their romance was sparked by Eminem's request that she play a specific role in his legendary movie 8 Mile. He recounted his initial reaction to Slim Shady's request for a meeting on the TFU Podcast: 'I'm not getting in the middle of that. I know how this ends.' He also claimed that Carey had declined a meeting with the Detroit rapper before learning about the film. Nonetheless, she eventually agreed to meet him, so Damizza facilitated the arrangement. 'The first thing out of [Eminem's] mouth is, 'I want you to play my mother,'' he recalled of the meeting. The 'We Belong Together' singer seemingly didn't take it well, as Damizza said, 'Her insecurities kicked in big time.' However, he wasn't prepared for where things would go between the two. Damizza told the TFU Podcast that the professional meeting was the catalyst for their long-rumored romantic relationship, with Mariah Carey being the one doing the courting. 'It was her chasing him, not him chasing her,' he said. 'Next thing I know, we are at Eminem's house… and they disappear. The second they went into his room, literally, I was like, 'I'm going back to LA. There is no point of me being here.' It went from business to f**king.' This is an interesting revelation, as Carey ended up not appearing in 8 Mile and has also denied the two ever being romantically involved. Eminem, however, wouldn't let her deceive the people. His 2009 track 'The Warning' was a response to her song 'Obsessed,' which many believe was targeted at him. 'Wow Mariah, didn't expect you to go balls out/ Bi**h shut the f**k up 'fore I put all them phone calls out/ You made to my house when you was Wild'n Out before Nick/ When you was on my d**k and give you something to smile about,' he rapped. In another part of the song, he added 'Listen, girly, surely you don't want me to talk about how I nutted early/ 'Cause I ejaculated prematurely/ And bust all over your belly and you almost started hurling/ And said I was gross, go get a towel, your stomach's curling.' Eminem stalker Matthew Hughes, sentenced to 30 years

Matthew Hughes, a man who has repeatedly stalked and broken into the home of rapper Eminem, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following a second conviction for home invasion. According to reports, Hughes, 32, received a sentence of 15 to 30 years for first-degree home invasion, in addition to another term of three to seven years and six months for aggravated stalking. The sentences will be served consecutively. The sentencing comes after Hughes was convicted last month following a brief jury trial in which Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, also testified. Hughes is now legally prohibited from having any contact with the rapper or coming within 500 feet of his residence or workplace. This latest conviction stems from a second break-in incident that occurred just months after Hughes had been released on parole in May 2024. His history with Eminem dates back several years. In 2020, Hughes gained national attention after he broke into Eminem's home and was found standing behind the rapper while he was sleeping. According to police reports at the time, Hughes told Eminem he was there to kill him. He later accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to five years of probation, which he violated that November by committing a separate assault, resulting in jail time. Additionally, Hughes had previously been arrested in 2019 for trespassing and sleeping in a guest house of a property formerly owned by Eminem. In a separate entertainment news update, music producer Damizza revealed on the TFU Podcast that Eminem once wanted pop icon Mariah Carey to portray his mother in the semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile. According to Damizza, Carey initially declined to meet with the rapper but later reconsidered. The idea, however, reportedly triggered Carey's insecurities, and the role ultimately went to another actress.

Savage remark that ignited Eminem, Mariah Carey feud finally revealed

Eminem and Mariah Carey's famous feud began two decades ago — and music producer Damion 'Damizza' Young may have finally revealed the diss that started it all. The 50-year-old, who began working with Carey in 1988, revealed on the TFU Podcast last week that he is responsible for introducing the singer, 56, to the rapper, 52. According to Young, Eminem was interested in casting Carey in 8 Mile, reports Page Six. However, he told Carey, who is only four years his senior, during a three-way phone call, 'I want you to play my mother.' Young recalled, 'She did not like that s**t at all. Her insecurities kicked in big time.' Kim Basinger, who is 19 years older than the rapper, ultimately ended up playing Stephanie Smith, Eminem's character B-Rabbit's mum, in the 2002 movie. Young told listeners that he had warned Eminem against making the offer in the first place. 'Don't do this. I know where you're going with this,' he remembered saying. 'I'm managing this girl, and it's gonna cause me a problem.' Young, who knew Carey wanted to branch out into movies, had already cautioned her against doing Glitter and wasn't a fan of the 8 Mile opportunity — but decided to let Eminem tell her about it anyway. 'If I don't say something and then it comes another route in the business or something, then I'm the bad guy,' he explained. Reps for Eminem and Carey did not immediately respond to Page Six 's requests for comment. Eminem has long claimed that the Grammy winners' beef originated from a failed romantic relationship — which Carey has continuously denied. Young claimed in last week's podcast episode that Carey 'was chasing' Eminem and took a trip to Detroit. Young left while the artists were allegedly 'f**king' in Eminem's room. The radio executive went on to claim that while Carey was 'on' Eminem at the time, she was later 'not doing well' after Eminem 'had done this and that.' Eminem blasted Carey in multiple diss tracks beginning in 2002, from Superman to When the Music Stops in 2002. Carey claimed to Larry King that same year that she and Eminem only 'hung out … a total of four times,' which she did not 'consider dating somebody' — and he subsequently referenced her in another song 'Jimmy Crack Corn.' This led Carey to sing about Eminem — and portray him in the music video — in Obsessed in 2009. The feud died down for years, with Eminem even insisting to Vibe he was 'done' in a 2010 interview. However, he called Carey a 'nut job' in his verse on Fat Joe's Lord Above nine years later. In 2020, Carey published her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, and did not once mention Eminem in the book.

Mariah Carey ‘did not like' role Eminem asked her to play in biopic film

Eminem wanted Mariah Carey to play his alcoholic mother in his 2002 film debut, 8 Mile, according to producer Damion Young. Young, who worked with Carey on her 1998 single 'I Still Believe', introduced Eminem to Carey, who had expressed interest in film roles. Carey allegedly asked for Eminem 's number after learning the meeting was about a film role, despite initially declining to meet. During the call, Eminem suggested Carey play his mother, which Young said she 'did not like that s*** at all' due to her insecurities. 8 Mile, based on Eminem's early career, saw him playing an aspiring rapper and featured the hit song ' Lose Yourself, ' which won an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Eminem wanted Mariah Carey to play his mother in '8 Mile'

Rapper Eminem , who essayed the lead in '8 Mile', had a different plan for his family set-up in the film, largely different from the final outcome. Music producer Damion "Damizza" Young recently claimed the 'Spacebound' rapper, 52, wanted Carey, 56, to play his mother in 8 Mile, despite the five-time Grammy winner being just four years his senior, reports 'People' magazine. Young, who first worked with Carey when he produced her 1998 single "I Still Believe" featuring Krayzie Bone and Da Brat, made the revelation on the latest episode of the 'TFU Podcast'. He said he's responsible for introducing the 'Obsessed' singer and Eminem. According to the industry veteran, Carey had recently released 'Heartbreaker' with JAY-Z and was doing great in her career, but expressed that she was now interested in taking on a movie role. As per 'People', Young said he was in the process of advising her against signing on to do Glitter, since it was an independent film, when he got a call from Eminem's camp with the '8 Mile' offer, which he also didn't necessarily approve of. Referring to the opportunity as Carey's "Achilles' heel", Young felt he was at a crossroads. "'If I don't say something and then it comes another route in the business or something, then I'm the bad guy'", he said of his thought process, and the reason he ultimately made the introduction between the two stars. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Transform Your Child's Confidence with Our Public Speaking Program Planet Spark Book Now Undo "So I go to Mariah, and I'm like, 'Look, Eminem wants to meet you', and she's like, 'No'", he said of his first attempt. I know where you're going with this'", making mention of his history with Christina Aguilera. "I'm managing this girl, and it's gonna cause me a problem", he warned. Eminem allegedly replied, "'No, I genuinely want her in the movie'", the music producer recalled. With all three finally on a call to discuss the role, Young said Carey was told, "'I want you to play my mother'. She did not like that s***at all", Young said. "Her insecurities kicked in big time". Academy Award winner Kim Basinger , now 71, was ultimately cast in the role. --IANS aa/
