Eminem stalker Matthew Hughes, sentenced to 30 years

Express Tribune21-06-2025
Matthew Hughes, a man who has repeatedly stalked and broken into the home of rapper Eminem, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following a second conviction for home invasion. According to reports, Hughes, 32, received a sentence of 15 to 30 years for first-degree home invasion, in addition to another term of three to seven years and six months for aggravated stalking. The sentences will be served consecutively.
The sentencing comes after Hughes was convicted last month following a brief jury trial in which Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, also testified. Hughes is now legally prohibited from having any contact with the rapper or coming within 500 feet of his residence or workplace.
This latest conviction stems from a second break-in incident that occurred just months after Hughes had been released on parole in May 2024. His history with Eminem dates back several years. In 2020, Hughes gained national attention after he broke into Eminem's home and was found standing behind the rapper while he was sleeping. According to police reports at the time, Hughes told Eminem he was there to kill him. He later accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to five years of probation, which he violated that November by committing a separate assault, resulting in jail time.
Additionally, Hughes had previously been arrested in 2019 for trespassing and sleeping in a guest house of a property formerly owned by Eminem.
In a separate entertainment news update, music producer Damizza revealed on the TFU Podcast that Eminem once wanted pop icon Mariah Carey to portray his mother in the semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile. According to Damizza, Carey initially declined to meet with the rapper but later reconsidered. The idea, however, reportedly triggered Carey's insecurities, and the role ultimately went to another actress.

Eminem credited as lyricist on Justin Bieber's Yukon track from SWAG album

Justin Bieber's surprise album SWAG, released on July 11, 2025, has stirred excitement and confusion online—especially over a notable credit on one of its most talked-about tracks. According to the third song on the album, 'YUKON,' lists Eminem, 2 Chainz, Dijon, and Bieber himself as composer-lyricists. 🚨 Eminem is one of the Composer Lyricists on the track 'YUKON' on Justin Bieber's new album 'SWAG' — The Eminem Bible (@Shadyind) July 11, 2025 Fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to react. Some were thrilled by Eminem's apparent involvement, with one user declaring 'YUKON' the 'second best song on the album,' and others calling it 'fire' and 'one of my favs.' However, many questioned the extent of Eminem's contribution. Several users speculated that Bieber had sampled a lyric from Eminem's 2011 track 'Untitled,' particularly the line, 'Get a move on, like U-Haul,' which may have led to Eminem being legally credited. The best of the album — Jack21 (@astrojack21) July 11, 2025 While some hoped the credit hinted at a deeper collaboration, others dismissed it as a routine legal listing. 'That means literally nothing,' one user wrote. 'He is legally obligated to list Eminem. It's still unclear which song was sampled.' Theories continued circulating, but most agreed the credit likely stems from sample clearance rather than a new partnership. It's because I take the lyrics from the song "Untitled" by Eminem — Javier Alejandro (@_Javishh) July 11, 2025 That means literally nothing, probably just used a sample so they had to credit em — ViperAceFilms (@ace6_viper) July 11, 2025 Though Bieber and Eminem haven't collaborated before, they've acknowledged each other publicly. In 2013, The Sun reported that Eminem reached out to Bieber during a rough patch, encouraging therapy. Later, in 2018, Eminem name-dropped Bieber in a freestyle, prompting Bieber to criticize the rapper's views on younger artists. SWAG is Bieber's first full-length release since Justice (2021), and its rollout included billboard campaigns across Reykjavík, New York, and Los Angeles. Promotional visuals featured Bieber, his wife Hailey, and their son Jack Blues. Whether Eminem's credit was intentional or incidental, it has certainly drawn fresh attention to Bieber's evolving musical direction.

JID and Eminem drop lyric video for 'Animals (Pt.1)' with Eminem's Kanye West diss

JID and Eminem have teamed up once again, dropping a lyric video for their highly anticipated track "Animals." The collaboration, which showcases both rappers' sharp lyricism, is a masterclass in wordplay and clever metaphors. The black-and-white lyric video places the focus entirely on the verses, offering fans an opportunity to fully appreciate the intricate flows and references woven into the song. The video serves as a perfect complement to the track, especially for listeners who have been replaying it in an attempt to decode the various metaphors and punchlines. Notable lines from Eminem include references to 50 Cent's "piggy bank" and his bold declaration of being the 'Dave Chappelle of the rap game.' The visual format helps illuminate these wordplays, allowing viewers to follow along with ease. In addition to its technical brilliance, the track also stirs controversy, particularly with Eminem's pointed jabs at Kanye West. On "Animals (Pt. 1)," Em mocks his former collaborator, referencing West's controversial confessions about his past. Specifically, Eminem takes aim at West's troubling admissions regarding his alleged incestuous relationship with a cousin during their youth. The rapper raps: "With these magazines, I act out like Ye and his cousin," followed by explicit lines criticizing West's recent output. Kanye West has yet to respond to Eminem's remarks. Earlier this year, West revealed that he had a sexual relationship with his cousin when they were both minors, a confession that has sparked significant media attention. Despite the controversy, the track has been met with eager anticipation, as fans await further updates from both artists.
