Man injures four people in attack on German train, police say
MUNICH (Reuters) -A man attacked and injured four people on Thursday on a high-speed train in southern Germany around 70 kilometres (43.5 miles) from the Austrian border before being arrested, police said. The ICE 91 train was carrying around 500 passengers from Hamburg in northern Germany to the Austrian capital Vienna. The man was arrested and the rail line shut down, a police statement said. "Today at around 1:55 p.m., (1155 GMT) a man injured several people with dangerous objects on an ICE train heading towards Vienna shortly before Strasskirchen," a statement from police in the southern state of Bavaria said. Year after army schoolboy suicide, charge-sheet filed against principal, teacher
More than a year after a 16-year-old student of Army Public School in Delhi died by suicide, Delhi Police has filed a charge sheet against the school's former principal and class coordinator, alleging abetment to suicide. The charge sheet was submitted before judicial magistrate (first class) Ravi of Patiala House courts recently following a complaint by the student's father, an army havildar. The father alleged that his son was denied the admit card for the Class 10 board exams just two days before they began, causing the boy immense mental stress. The principal and teacher, he claimed, misbehaved with the student's mother and demanded ₹10,000 as fine for damaging school property — all of which allegedly drove the student to take his life. The incident took place on February 19 last year at the family's home in Shankar Vihar, southwest Delhi. The student, who had returned from school with his mother around noon, was found hanging in his room an hour later. A case was registered at Vasant Vihar police station and a five-member special investigation team (SIT) was formed. An internal army inquiry also began, while protests were held by the student's family and well-wishers seeking the principal's dismissal. According to the charge sheet, accessed by HT, statements from students, teachers, and the student's tuition teacher established that the boy had broken a classroom desk three days before his death and uploaded a video of it on Instagram. On February 19, the school called his mother and informed her about the disciplinary action. The charge sheet stated that several witnesses have confirmed that the student was told his admit card might be withheld — which, the boy believed, would ruin his academic year. His tuition teacher told police, 'He had improved a lot in studies… he was only sad about his admit card. I convinced him it couldn't be held back, but he was very tense.' A classmate echoed this, saying, 'He was worried the coordinator would refuse him the admit card and his year would go to waste.' The police concluded there was sufficient evidence to prosecute the principal and teacher under Indian Penal Code sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (common intention). However, the two have not been arrested as the court is yet to take cognisance of the charge sheet, which is expected to take place on July 17. Both accused were served notices under CrPC Section 91 to produce relevant documents. In their statements, they denied having misbehaved with the student's mother or issuing any fine, claiming the student was only issued a disciplinary note and that the admit card was to be handed over once the father met the principal the following day. 'The principal clarified that as per CBSE policy, no one can withhold an admit card,' the charge sheet said, adding that during the meeting with the boy's mother, the term 'admit card' was not mentioned. When contacted, the school said the matter is with the police and declined comment. The coordinator also refused comment, saying the case was sub judice. Th Outcome of the Fund-raising Committee Meeting of the Board of Directors held on May 29, 2025 was intimated by Vishal Fabrics to the Bombay Stock Exchange or the BSE. Vishal Fabrics had intimated on September 12, 2024, with respect to the allotment of warrants and in the same context Vishal Fabrics said that Fund raising Committee of the Board of Directors of the Company in their meeting held on Thursday , May 29, 2025, considered and approved the allotment of equity shares having face value of Rs. 5/- each , upon part conversion of 69,32,824 warrants. The warrants hav been approved to be issued by Small-cap stock below ₹ 50, Vishal Fabrics at an issue price of Rs. 30.60/- each, on preferential basis, upon receipt of amount aggregating to Rs.15,91,08,310.80 /- (Rupees Fifteen Crore Ninety One Lakhs Eight Thousand Three Hundred and Ten and Eighty Paisa only) at the rate of Rs. 22.95/- (Rupees Twenty-Two and Ninety-Five Paise only) per warrant from the allottee pursuant to the exercise of their rights of conversion into equity shares. According to a release by Vishal Fabrics, these warrants were granted to "Non-Promoter, Public Category" on a preferential basis with a price of Rs. 30.60/-per warrant upon payment of Rs. 7.65/- (Rupees Seven and Sixty-Five Paise only) per warrant, which is 25% of the Issue Price. This gives the warrant holders the right to convert their warrants into an equal number of Equity Shares of the Company by paying the remaining 75%, or Rs. 22.95/-per warrant, within 18 months of the date of warrants allotment. Small-cap stock below ₹ 50, Vishal Fabrics share price opened at ₹ 30 on the BSE on Friday, almost flat over the previous days closing price of ₹ 30.04. Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs, during her speech during the event.- KUNA VIENNA: Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah has reaffirmed Kuwait's unwavering commitment — alongside fellow Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states — to strengthening regional and international cooperation in the fight against trafficking in persons. This came during a speech delivered by Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher at a side event organized by GCC countries in partnership with the UN Advisory Committee on Combating Human Trafficking, held on the sidelines of the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna. Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher commended the constructive role played by the UN Advisory Committee in supporting collective Gulf efforts to address this transnational crime. She highlighted several key initiatives spearheaded by Kuwait to counter trafficking, notably the hosting of the Sixth Regional Government Forum on Combating Trafficking in Persons, the establishment of a shelter for male migrant workers, the creation of labour cities aimed at improving workplace conditions, and the launch of the National Strategy to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants 2025–2028 under the slogan 'Towards Defense'. Underscoring Kuwait's commitment to protecting rights and promoting justice, Sheikha Jawaher also reviewed the country's legal advancements, including the implementation of Law No (91) of 2013 and Law No. (114) of 2024. She noted Kuwait's close cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), particularly in the areas of knowledge exchange, professional visits to shelters and correctional facilities, and capacity-building. In light of evolving global challenges, the Ambassador called for enhanced collective action, advocating for the creation of a unified Gulf digital platform to align national strategies and streamline the exchange of information and best practices. Sheikha Jawaher also stressed the importance of active Gulf participation in the upcoming high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly next November, aimed at reviewing the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons. She underlined the necessity of addressing emerging threats, including the misuse of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in human trafficking activities.
