Telangana CM promises 3,000 electrical buses to Hyderabad in one year

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy alleged that the Central government was showing a discriminatory attitude towards Hyderabad, and sought to know why the Metro Rail Phase-II, Musi riverfront development project and the regional ring road are not being sanctioned. Speaking after inaugurating the third-level flyover over Gachibowli Junction connecting ORR and Kondapur on Saturday, Mr. Revanth Reddy said: 'Telangana had given eight MP seats to BJP, but got nothing in return. Even small cities are expanding their metro rail networks, but Hyderabad Metro Rail has slipped from second place to ninth, due to apathy of the Centre.' Mr. Revanth Reddy, showered praise on late Congress party leader P. Janardhan Reddy after whom the flyover was named. He said it was owing to Mr. Janardhan Reddy's efforts that the city has got drinking water from Krishna and Godavari rivers. He was always accessible to the people, and was a saviour for poor people. Speaking of the Kancha Gachibowli land issue which has reached the Supreme Court, he claimed that the controversy was raked up by BRS, using false propaganda. He exuded confidence that the government would be able to cross all the obstacles and develop the area, through establishment of new companies and creating five lakh jobs. Reaffirming his commitment to environment protection, Mr. Revanth Reddy said 3,000 electrical buses will be introduced to the city within the coming one year, and the diesel buses will be deployed outside the city. He also advised the autorickshaw owners to shift to CNG or electrical autos, and promised tax waivers for the electrical vehicles. He stressed the need to protect Hyderabad from becoming another Delhi. He reiterated his commitment to create Future City as the Net Zero city. He hinted at the possibility of Serilingampally being divided into four constituencies in the delimitation exercise due in 2029. Focussing his initiative to prevent encroachment of lakes and drains, through the establishment of Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Mr. Revanth Reddy commended movie actor Akkineni Nagarjuna as the 'real hero', as he admitted to the encroachment of Thammidikunta lake by the N-Convention and handed over two acres of the FTL land back to the government.

Telangana CM Revanth calls for united fight against drug abuse, launches EAGLE task force

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday (June 26, 2025) cautioned against the growing drug menace in the State, calling on citizens, institutions and youth to take collective responsibility in eradicating the threat. Speaking at a programme held at Shilpakala Vedika, the Chief Minister announced the launch of Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) as a special enforcement unit called EAGLE, which stands for Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement. He said EAGLE will be tasked with identifying and destroying ganja cultivation in Telangana and intercepting trafficking activities at State borders. He added that the unit will have the tools and freedom to act wherever needed. The Chief Minister said Telangana has a proud history as the land of movements and struggle and recalled how the region produced heroes who fought against the Nizams and Razakars, and said it was unacceptable for the youth of such a land to fall victim to drugs. He questioned whether Telangana, known for its fighting spirit, should now remain silent while drugs enter schools and colleges. Mr. Revanth Reddy said that as soon as the Congress government came to power, it made it clear that there would be zero tolerance for drugs in Telangana. 'Enemy nations are using various strategies to weaken India, and one of those is spreading drug addiction. Sixty-eight per cent of India's population is youth and India is the only country in the world with such a large young population. It is the responsibility of the State to ensure that its youth do not become weak or directionless,' said the Chief Minister. He added that the previous governments had no clear sports policy, but his administration introduced one immediately after taking office. A skills university has also been set up to train and prepare young people for the future. The Chief Minister spoke of his own journey from Nallamala to the post of ZPTC and now Chief Minister, adding that actor Vijay Deverakonda also came from the same region. He said such achievements require determination and hard work, not shortcuts through harmful paths like drug use. Mr. Revanth Reddy warned educational institutions that the responsibility for monitoring student behaviour and keeping campuses free from drugs lies with the management. He said no school or college can ignore anti-social activities and negligence will not be tolerated. He added that vigilance is key and only through collective alertness can drugs be kept out of the State. He urged the youth to become heroes by excelling in education and sports, not by falling into addiction and promised special opportunities for sportspersons, not just in employment but also in politics. The Chief Minister concluded by urging everyone to join hands in protecting the future of Telangana. He said the State must not become a base for drugs and should instead be an example to the world as a land of progress, youth power and responsible governance.

Sand Scam Busted: Govt Cancels Kottapally Sand Mining Permission After Massive Irregularities Exposed

Mahabubnagar: In a major victory for transparency and public activism, the Telangana government has cancelled sand mining permissions at the Kottapally sand reach in Midzil mandal of Mahabubnagar district following explosive allegations of large-scale illegal mining and extortion. The move comes after Nenusaitham social activist Diddi Praveen Kumar blew the whistle on the ongoing illegalities and filed formal complaints with both the district administration and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He alleged that the mining contractor, with the backing of revenue and mining officials, had excavated sand far beyond the permitted depth of 2.5 meters, illegally reaching depths of over 10 meters, causing crores of rupees loss to the state exchequer. In a shocking revelation, it was also alleged that the contractor and project officers had appointed private goons who established three unauthorized check-posts. Each truck transporting sand was allegedly forced to pay Rs. 8,000 at one post and an additional Rs. 3,000 at another point where private individuals, allegedly appointed by the Mining Project Officer, cleared waybills illegally. It was further claimed that multiple trucks were cleared on a single waybill, deepening the scale of the fraud. Following sustained protests, public outrage, and a series of reports in Hans India, the Chief Minister took cognizance of the issue. Acting swiftly, he instructed the Mahabubnagar District Collector Viziyendira Boi to investigate and take action. Acting on the CM's orders, the Collector has officially cancelled the sand mining permissions for the Kottapally reach. Speaking to the media, Praveen Kumar thanked CM Revanth Reddy for his prompt response and urged the district administration to blacklist the contractor involved. He demanded that criminal cases be booked under the WALTA Act against all individuals and officials complicit in the scam. 'If no legal action is initiated, I will move the High Court,' he warned. The cancellation marks a significant milestone in the fight against the sand mafia in Telangana. However, activists continue to call for a broader crackdown on corrupt officials and systemic loopholes that allow such illegal operations to thrive.
