Manchester City Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Talented Midfielder: Should Pep Move In For Him?
In a recent report, A Bola stated that Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand this summer. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Manchester United in the race to land the Danish talent this off-season. Hjulmand's Impressive Form In Portuguese Football Hjulmand put in a series of solid performances at the centre of Sporting's midfield in the previous campaign. The 26-year-old scored three goals and picked up a couple of assists in 47 matches for the Portuguese club last season across various competitions. The Danish talent anchored the midfield with conviction as he made 54 tackles, 20 blocks and 27 interceptions in Liga Portugal. He was even tidy when distributing possession from midfield after completing 90% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese top tier (stats via His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, Man City would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit Hjulmand in this transfer window. (Photo by) Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Move In For Hjulmand? Hjulmand is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears his lines when required and is an accurate passer of the ball. Hjulmand has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He is an energetic runner with the ball as well. The Danish sensation is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so by his manager. However, he might need some time to adjust to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League. Hjulmand would inject more firepower into Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's midfield department. The Danish talent is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium next season. At 26, Hjulmand has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Mancunian club to pursue in this transfer period. Therefore, Guardiola would be wise to move in for him ahead of the new campaign.

United square off with Inter and Juventus to sign dynamic midfielder
Manchester United appear to be in the running to sign a high-performing holding midfielder to their ranks. Since the start of the ongoing transfer window, focus has been placed on Man United upgrading their attacking lineup. Following the signing of Matheus Cunha, United have continued to be linked with a host of attacking talents, with the pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo dragging along. Now, it seems that United may be shifting their sights to the midfield. Filling the gap While midfielders do not appear to be a hot topic in the media, United manager Ruben Amorim will surely be looking for some fresh talent given his team's struggles. Christian Eriksen has left the club, thereby leaving a void that will need to be filled, while it remains to be seen how long Casemiro will still be able to perform at a high level. While Kobbie Mainoo has been a promising rising star, he has faced injury setbacks, while Manuel Ugarte still appears to be unproven. As a result, a capable holding midfielder might be required by United in order to bolster their ability to dictate the flow of play next season. Identifying their next target This morning, several reports suggested that United are interested in Sporting CP's Morten Hjulmand. Record reported this morning that United and Inter are set to battle with Juventus to sign the player, with the Italian club considering him a priority transfer. Furthermore, the report claimed that an offer starting at €60 million could be sufficient to sign the defensive midfielder, with the player's release clause set at €80 million. Still, the article claimed that it appears most likely that Hjulmand will remain at Sporting, seeing as no concrete offers have been made. Meanwhile, A Bola reiterated claims that United are linked to Hjulmand. 'The player's agents waved an offer of €30 to €40 million from Juventus, and there are also interested parties in England,' A Bola's report read. 'To everyone, including the Italians who, through the player's agents, sent their intentions of an offer to Alvalade, the Lions' management, as A Bola knows, has only one answer to give: a release clause of €80 million, or very close to it.' The race is on Hjulmand has proven UEFA Champions League experience, winning an impressive 67% of his ground duels in nine appearances last season. He also enjoyed 88% passing accuracy on average. (Sofascore) Given his proven ability to play at an elite level, United are sure to face a tough battle against Inter and Juventus should they decide to make a move for the Dane. Viktor Gyokeres: Sporting issue statement as Arsenal transfer target takes action to push through move today
Viktor Gyokeres will face disciplinary proceedings at Sporting after failing to report for training. Whilst the majority of the Sporting squad began their preparations for the new season at the beginning of the month, Gyokeres was granted an extended holiday for his international commitments at the end of last season. However, the Sweden striker was due to have returned to Sporting by now. Initial reports claimed Gyokeres' return date was Friday July 11, 2025. However, Portuguese publication, Record, reported the date had been moved to today, Saturday July 12, 2025. Although, A Bola reported that Gyokeres had no intention of turning up to training on Saturday unless he had a 'last minute change of heart. Such action was always going to risk disciplinary action from his current club and that has been confirmed by Sporting president Frederico Varandas. He said: "We're calm. Everything can be solved with the closure of the market, a hefty fine and an apology to the group. 'If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we'll be very comfortable with that for the next three years. 'If the geniuses who are devising this strategy think that this puts pressure on me to make it easier for him to leave, not only are they completely wrong, but they are also making it more complicated for the player to leave. 'No one is above the interests of the club. Whoever they are." Varandas has previously insisted Gyokeres will not be sold for less than an €80m (£68.6m) transfer fee and Standard Sport reported last Sunday that Arsenal's proposal of €65million (£56m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons was not enough. It is understood that Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal, but until the two clubs reach an agreement over a transfer fee, his future will remain unresolved.
