Hjulmand's Impressive Form In Portuguese Football
Hjulmand put in a series of solid performances at the centre of Sporting's midfield in the previous campaign. The 26-year-old scored three goals and picked up a couple of assists in 47 matches for the Portuguese club last season across various competitions.
The Danish talent anchored the midfield with conviction as he made 54 tackles, 20 blocks and 27 interceptions in Liga Portugal. He was even tidy when distributing possession from midfield after completing 90% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, Man City would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit Hjulmand in this transfer window.

That's according to transfer insider Santi Aouna, who has on Monday provided an insight into the situation. The name of frontman Rodrygo has of course reemerged as an altogether prominent one in the headlines across Spain and England alike over recent days. This comes after a string of reports were forthcoming, confirming serious interest in the Brazilian's services on the part of the aforementioned Tottenham. The Spurs brass are understood to have gone as far as to initiate contacts with Rodrygo's entourage, to gauge his interest in a joining of forces for next season. As alluded to above, however, if the latest update to have surfaced online on Monday evening is anything to go by, then those of a Tottenham persuasion need not get their hopes up… As per a report from journalist Santi Aouna: 'Rodrygo has no interest in joining Tottenham despite reports.
