Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus issues positive new injury update as striker transfer saga continues
Working his way back: Gabriel Jesus appears to be making good progress in his recovery from ACL surgery (X/@gabrieljesus9) Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has posted an encouraging new update on his recovery from a serious knee injury. The Brazilian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during an FA Cup tie against Manchester United in mid-January and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the season as he underwent surgery. Advertisement Now almost six months after going under the knife, Jesus has given a positive update on his progress. In a new 35-second video posted to his official account on social media platform X on Monday, Jesus - dressed in Arsenal training gear - can be seen engaging in skipping drills and strengthening exercises with a resistance band, before jumping from a crouched lunge position into a squat. Other clips included show the 28-year-old leaping forwards from a squat position and running on a treadmill. 'It's been 6 months since the surgery, it's great to be able to move around like this again,' Jesus wrote in the post's caption. Advertisement Club, player and Arsenal fans alike will all hope that the ex-Manchester City forward, who has struggled with knee issues repeatedly since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2022, continues his recovery during pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign kicking off in August, particularly given that the Gunners have been handed what looks to be a tricky opening fixture run. But Jesus's availability is unlikely to dissuade anyone in the Arsenal camp from pushing for a new striker, in a bid to avoid a repeat of the injury crisis that - after makeshift No9 Kai Havertz went down with a hamstring issue which also required surgery a few weeks later - left the north Londoners without a recognised frontman for most of the second half of last season. Sporting Lisbon's in-demand striker Viktor Gyokeres is among those being considered, as are Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

Argentina Wonderkid Calls Dramatic Late Winner For Inter Milan Vs Urawa Red Diamonds ‘A Reward For All I've Had To Go Through'
Argentina Wonderkid Calls Dramatic Late Winner For Inter Milan Vs Urawa Red Diamonds 'A Reward For All I've Had To Go Through' Valentin Carboni says that his late winner for Inter Milan against Inter Milan was 'a reward' after his long injury recovery. The Argentine spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the 2-1 Club World Cup win. Advertisement Valentin Carboni was not the likeliest hero for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds. The Argentine is only just coming back from an ACL tear that has kept him out since October. But it was Carboni who Inter coach Cristian Chivu turned to late in the Nerazzurri's Club World Cup match against Urawa Red Diamonds. When Chivu threw the 20-year-old on off the bench, Inter were trailing 0-1 in the Club World Cup group stage clash. However, Lautaro Martinez was able to find the equalizer for Inter. From then on, it looked as though the Nerazzurri would be settling for a point. However, it was Carboni who found himself with the ball at his feet inside the penalty area in stoppage time. And the Argentine showed great technique and composure to tuck the ball into the far corner. Then, the 20-year-old admitted that 'it's a huge emotion for me, because I've suffered a lot over the last few months.' 'It's been very difficult for me,' Carboni continued. 'I wanted to dedicate it to my family and to my girlfriend, who have been close to me. Now I'm very happy.' Carboni went on that 'I think this goal is a reward for all that I've had to go through in the last few months.' 'What motivates me is continuing to play football,' added the Argentine. 'Which I've known how to do since I was very little.' Meanwhile, Carboni called Inter captain Lautaro Martinez 'a great example.' 'Now I can see more closely the hunger and the ruthlessness he has. 49ers' Mustapha Appears Ahead of Schedule in Injury Recovery
49ers' Mustapha Appears Ahead of Schedule in Injury Recovery originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Malik Mustapha quickly became a valuable asset to the San Francisco 49ers defense last season as a rookie. Heading into 2025 where the Niners lost multiple starters in the secondary, Mustapha may be called on to produce even more. Advertisement Except ... he suffered a torn ACL in San Francisco's regular season finale. The team decided to keep the injury hushed until after the NFL Draft even though Mustapha had already underwent surgery. As the team wraps up minicamp, we have already seen glimpses of the former fourth-round pick in his rehab. Mustapha was reportedly in attendance for every OTA and minicamp session, and despite not being able to compete in team drills, was working diligently with the athletic training staff at practice. He is looking very strong in a video update posted to social media, leading us to believe he could be ahead of schedule in his recovery. Mustapha's surgically repaired right knee is just 21 weeks removed from operation. The Wake Forest product, who has already undergone a knee recovery in college, was seen pulling sleds and lifting weights seemingly with ease. Advertisement Although we would have liked to see some side-to-side movement and change of direction to fully gauge his strength, we'll take what we can get in signs of progress. Still, things look good at this stage of the offseason. Initial reports predicted Mustapha would start the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, meaning he would have to miss the first four games. If he keeps up this work, he could make a run at being fully healthy before Week 5 and return to manning the 49ers' secondary sooner than expected. That would be a major plus for a San Francisco roster that was plagued with injury all throughout last season. Advertisement The Niners didn't draft a safety this year until the fifth round in Marques Sigle. The rest of the defensive backfield is likely to include youngster Ji'Ayir Brown and free-agent grab Jason Pinnock. Losing All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga will sting if the 49ers can't find a suitable substitute before Mustapha recovers. By the looks of it, he is hoping the team won't have to wait long for his return. Sam Kerr's teaser sends fans wild despite sad omission as Matildas favourite returns
Sam Kerr appears to be nearing a return after sharing footage of her back in training despite being left out of Joe Montemurro's Matildas squad for his first-game in charge. There is plenty of excitement around the Matildas with new coach Montemurro naming a large 33-strong squad for games against Slovenia and Panama. Interestingly, 14 A-League Women players joined the squad but Women's Super League stars and current captain Steph Catley, forward Caitlin Foord and midfielder Katrina Gorry will not feature in the four-game window having taken leave after a long season. However, Kerr was once again among the absentees having suffered setback during her ACL rehab the other week. Kerr has not played football in more than 16 months after tearing her ACL during training for her club side Chelsea. And earlier this month, it was revealed Kerr underwent surgery on a separate injury. Little is known about her recovery timeline, with Kerr and partner Kristie Mews recently taking a break and holidaying in the off-season. However, the Matildas superstar handed fans an update having posted a photo of her back training and running with Chelsea during training. Although she was once again excluded from the Matildas squad with fans increasingly interested over when she will make a comeback. The Matildas superstar has been undergoing her recovery and was a hope to line-up for Chelsea, before their record breaking Women's Super League season came to an end. Although this didn't come to fruition with the plan for Kerr to remain in England and continue her recovery with Chelsea. 🥹🥹 — jurídico sam kerr (@m4yaramonster) June 19, 2025 Light at the end of the tunnel for next season 😍😍😍 — ℜ u k ǝ K v ǝ l l 🇬🇧🇨🇦 (@Ruke_kvell) June 19, 2025 When is Sam Kerr going to return to playing football? — The Australian's pie chart creator (@Elfvandel20) June 20, 2025 While Kerr remains out, Mackenzie Arnold and Hayley Raso both return from injury. The Tottenham winger was missed by the Matildas in recent games with her creativity a major loss for the side. Montemurro is looking to improve the Matildas and find some results with Australia's national women's team dropping to their equal-worst position on the FIFA rankings. The World No.16 side has struggled in the last 12 months having been knocked out in a disastrous Olympics and SheBelieves Cup campaign. "When you have this amount of time, you can start to infiltrate some good ideas and make a statement in terms of the way we want to play," Montemurro said. "We still want to win football matches. We still want to show you who we are as a footballing nation. But more importantly, to really instil some identity, and really instil some belief in this team that you know going forward."

Titans WR Treylon Burks says he feels "amazing" in recovery from torn ACL
Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks says he's feeling good as he recovers from the torn ACL that ended his 2024 season in October. "I feel amazing, just blessed," Burks said, via "I've just been leaning on God, leaning on the people that believe in me, care. And I feel really good, and happy to be in the situation I'm in." Advertisement Even before the injury, Burks had been a disappointment as the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Through three NFL seasons he has just 49 catches for 665 yards and one touchdown. Burks knows he's no lock to make the Titans' roster but says he's not worried about competing with the other players in the Tennessee wide receivers room. "I am not going out to prove nobody wrong, I am going out to prove myself right," he said. "I tore my ACL [on October 18] and I am running. I am running routes, doing everything within those seven months, and it's like, 'Wow.' And it's nobody but God who made it happen. That's who I play for and that's who I lean on. I am not worried about whoever is in the room or whoever we've got. We're a team and we're going to go out and play ball." Burks hasn't played as much ball as the Titans were hoping he would in his first three seasons, but he's preparing for a training camp in which he hopes he can prove that he belongs.
