Abu Dhabi families laud municipality's awareness campaign for park cleanliness
26 June 2025 23:12 AMEINAH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)Families in Abu Dhabi have expressed their full support for the authorities' latest initiative, which reminds the community of their shared responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness at public parks across the Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) — on behalf of the Department of Municipalities and Transport — recently launched an awareness campaign with a focus on encouraging park visitors to keep their surroundings clean and ensure that any type of waste is disposed of in designated campaign is part of an initiative titled 'Hand in Hand to Preserve Our Beautiful City,' organised in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and Tadweer recently conducted a cleanup campaign at Al Nahyan Park, involving community members in efforts to pick up litter and promote public Mohammad, who usually visits Umm Al Emarat Park with his family, lauded the campaign, saying it teaches youngsters valuable lessons. 'Parks are not just leisure spaces; they are a shared responsibility. As parents, we must set an example for our children in respecting and preserving our public spaces,' he told Aletihad . Besides visiting popular parks to raise awareness among residents, ADM will be holding educational workshops designed to promote positive behaviour. These sessions encourage adherence to park regulations, highlighting the importance of environmental Al Ali, who recently spent a day with her family at Capital Park, agreed that there should be continuous awareness drives for all residents, including young children. 'The workshops for children were fantastic. I noticed that my kids became more mindful about not littering and following the rules — this is exactly the kind of behavioural shift we need,' Al Ali told Aletihad . Another resident, Mustafa Karm, commended the municipality's initiative as he enjoyed an afternoon with his family at Umm Al Emarat Park. 'It's great to see collaboration between the municipality, police, and Tadweer. Teamwork always yields results, and I hope these campaigns become part of our long-term culture,' he said.

Baran collector visits flood-hit villages, reviews relief measures
1 2 Kota: Amid continuous heavy rainfall in Baran, district collector Rohitashwa Singh Tomar, Wednesday, visited flood-affected villages to assess the ground situation and oversee relief measures. Accompanied by ADM Jabbar Singh and other officials, Tomar toured Ahmadi, Ahmada, Haripura, and Maloti villages, interacting with local residents and issuing necessary instructions to concerned departments. He reviewed essential services such as drinking water, electricity, and food ration supply, and inspected waterlogged areas, rivers, ponds, and rain-damaged roads. Immediate repair work on damaged culverts and roads has been ordered. Under his direction, arrangements for food, clean drinking water, and temporary shelters have been made for the affected families. The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) is supplying water through tankers, and ration kits are being distributed to ensure no shortage of basic necessities. Over 100 families from submerged areas have been relocated to Bajranggarh hostel. Tehsil-level officials have been instructed to conduct damage surveys for prompt financial assistance. In Haripura and Maloti, villagers reported electricity disruptions. The collector ordered immediate restoration of power. In Maloti, where poles have been damaged, restoration may take 8–10 days. The gram panchayat has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted water supply through alternative arrangements. Additionally, 18 Sahariya families from submerged areas of Haripura are being shifted to safer locations. PHED has been directed to supply water every two hours via tankers in the affected areas. Tomar assured that the administration is on high alert and extending all necessary support. HC asks admn to file report on unsafe buildings in Cuttack
1 2 Cuttack: Orissa high court has taken cognizance of a newspaper report highlighting the alleged presence of over 700 unsafe and dilapidated buildings in Cuttack city. These structures, including both private and govt properties, pose a serious risk to public safety and demand immediate remedial action. In an order passed on June 19, the special bench hearing PILs related to civic issues directed the Cuttack administration to file a comprehensive status report on unsafe structures when the matter comes up next on Aug 14. The bench comprising Justices S K Sahoo and V Narasingh issued the directive after ADM (general), Cuttack, Shiv Toppo, appearing through video link, informed the court that a dedicated committee has been formed to identify unsafe structures within city limits. The committee includes representatives from the roads and buildings division (I), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority, and the sub-collector (Sadar), Cuttack. However, identifying all dilapidated structures will take additional time. The court emphasised the urgency of the situation and said, "The ADM, Cuttack-cum-nodal officer shall furnish a fresh report regarding the identification of dilapidated structures in the city and action taken by the sub-collector, Sadar, Cuttack on the unsafe buildings." Localities such as Nimchouri, Nayasarak, Bamphisahi, Chandni Chowk, Buxi Bazar and Badambadi CESU Colony have been flagged as high-risk zones with several structures reportedly in a state of severe disrepair. Concerns over building safety in Cuttack are not new. In 2010, following a tragic building collapse in Delhi that claimed 60 lives, the CMC had announced plans for a survey of decrepit structures. A similar initiative was announced again in 2019, with a special team proposed for the purpose. However, according to official sources, both initiatives failed to materialise into concrete outcomes. With the high court now monitoring the issue, civic activists and residents are hopeful that long-pending measures will finally see implementation, ensuring safer urban infrastructure for the people of Cuttack.
