Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Denver Broncos made a strong run during the 2024 NFL season. Led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix, the Broncos were one of the biggest surprises in the league and made it all the way to the playoffs and finished the regular season with a 10-7 record. While they lost in the Wild Card round to the Buffalo Bills, the future looks incredibly bright for Denver. Nix lived up to the hype that surrounded him entering his first season. He not only played well, but was the clear-cut leader for the team. Read more: Late Offseason Warning Could Spark Broncos' Next Roster Move Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has now spoken out about Nix. He is clearly expecting a big second season from the former Oregon standout. In a post on X, Griffin did not hold back about his opinion of Nix. "After watching all of his film from last year, Bo Nix is the most underrated QB in the NFL," Griffin said. Griffin may very well be right. Nix isn't talked about as a top quarterback in the NFL yet, but he might become that kind of player during the 2025 campaign. As a rookie in 2024, Nix played in all 17 regular season games. He completed 66.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while also running for 430 yards and four more touchdowns. Playing for a head coach like Sean Payton is a young quarterback's dream. The work that Payton put in with legendary quarterback Drew Brees is very well known. It will be interesting to see what Nix is able to do when facing higher expectations. He still has a talented offseason around him, although there are some who believe the Broncos should still target another weapon for the second-year quarterback. Regardless of what happens in the 2025 NFL season, Denver has a franchise quarterback on the roster. Hopefully, he's able to take the next step and the Broncos are able to not just make the playoffs, but also win a playoff game or more. Bills Have One Issue That Could Destroy Super Bowl Hopes
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. After coming up just one win short of the Super Bowl last season, the Buffalo Bills are once again a top-tier contender entering the 2025 season. That has been the story for the franchise in recent years. Josh Allen and company have had multiple opportunities to get over the hump and into the big game. They simply have been unable to do it. This season, the roster is good enough once again. With Allen leading the way, the Bills are always going to be a team to watch. However, there are questions that need to be answered about Buffalo for the team to win it all. Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills looks to pass in the third quarter against the Denver Broncos during the AFC Wild Card Playoffs at Highmark Stadium on January 12, 2025 in Orchard Park, New York. More PhotoWith that being said, what is the biggest flaw for the Bills this year? Read more: Bills GM Shares New James Cook Update Amid Contract Drama Bleacher Report analyst Moe Moton took a look at the biggest flaw for top contenders. When it came to Buffalo, there is one glaring question that needs to be answered. He believes that a lack of star power around Allen in big moments is the team's biggest flaw. "The Bills shouldn't have to rely on Allen having an MVP year to reach the NFL mountaintop," Moton wrote. "If two-time Pro Bowl running back James Cook holds out in the summer after reporting to mandatory minicamp, Allen may not have the playmakers around him to get this team over the hump." Moton also continued on to reveal one player who could help fix the flaw. He thinks second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman is that guy. "If the second-year wideout can build on a rookie campaign in which he averaged 19.2 yards per catch, they may have the firepower to break through for a Super Bowl appearance," he wrote. They made a few moves, but they didn't swing big. Joey Bosa was the biggest offseason addition. While he's more than capable of being an elite pass rusher, there are always concerns about injuries with him. Offensively, Buffalo didn't do much to improve around Allen. It will be interesting to see if the tweaks the Bills made to the roster are enough. They were close to knocking off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs last season. Perhaps they can finally get the job done in 2025. For more Buffalo Bills and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Bills Receive Major Update Regarding James Cook
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Buffalo Bills are heading into an important 2025 NFL season. After being so close to the Super Bowl in recent years, the window of contention is still open. Last season, the Bills came up just short in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs. They made a few moves this offseason to change up the roster, but there are major questions that still need to be answered. One of those questions happens to involve running back James Cook. James Cook #4 of the Buffalo Bills celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the Denver Broncos during the second quarter during the AFC Wild Card Playoffs at Highmark Stadium on January 12, 2025 in Orchard... More PhotoThroughout the course of the 2025 offseason, Buffalo and Cook have been unable to come closer on a contract extension. It seems the Bills are not willing to pay what Cook is demanding. Read more: Browns' Shedeur Sanders Receives Brutal Update Amid QB Competition Due to their lack of progress towards a new deal, there has been major tension between the two parties. Many believe that they will part ways following the upcoming season. Even though there are major differences between Cook and Buffalo, a major update was revealed on the playmaker on Tuesday. Despite being involved in a contract dispute, Cook showed up to the team's mandatory minicamp, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. "Source: Bills RB James Cook, who has been seeking a new contract this off-season, is in attendance for today's mandatory minicamp," Schefter wrote on X. Cook was a massive part of the Bills' offense last season. His presence took a lot of pressure off of superstar quarterback Josh Allen and the passing game. In the 16 games he played in 2024, Cook carried the football 207 times for 1,009 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 258 yards and another two touchdowns. It would take compromise from both sides, but Cook clearly still values being a part of the team. Many players in his situation have decided to hold out in search of a new deal. At just 25 years old, Cook is just getting started. He's just now entering his prime and will have a chance to be a star in the backfield wherever he plays for years to come. Fans in Buffalo will be watching this situation as the 2025 season continues to draw closer. Hopefully, the two sides are able to work something out and pursue a championship this year. Browns OC Delivers New Update on QB Situation
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Cleveland Browns have a major quarterback competition brewing. With five quarterbacks on the roster and four of them vying for the Week 1 starting job, the upcoming preseason and training camp period will be full of storylines to watch. At this point, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett appear to be the top two contenders for the season opening starting job. However, the two rookies, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, are going to put up a fight. Both rookies are talented and have had some bright spots throughout rookie minicamp and OTA's. They aren't going to go away quietly and let the veterans win the job without contest. Many would like to see Sanders get playing time this season and he has been one of the top talking points throughout the league. Read more: Browns Analyst Reveals Major Shedeur Sanders Concern That being said, a new update on the competition has been given by Cleveland offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Rees believes that any of the quarterbacks the roster could win the job. He's going to give each of them every chance to prove that they deserve it. "You can see them all winning the job, I think, right?" Rees said. "And so in terms of the competition, we're so early in the process. We're so early in evaluating that. Yeah, I think, you know, we have a good group of guys that continue to push one another, and by the time September rolls around, we'll be ready to go." He continued on, talking about his plan with the quarterback room. Rees also gave a strong hint that Watson is not part of the starting conversation right now. Read more: Peyton Manning Doesn't Hold Back About Bengals QB Joe Burrow "It's going to be fluid," Rees said. "We're going to continue to work with all the guys we have. We're going to develop all four of them and, you know, we're going to push the reps. We're going to find ways to be creative to make sure that they all have opportunities to develop and put their best foot forward. And, you know, when the time comes, we'll continue to push guys forward as they are." Regardless of who wins the Week 1 starting job, there is likely going to be change throughout the year. Unless the Browns come out and are a surprising playoff contender, they will want to get a look at their young guys. Cleveland fans should buckle up for what could be a season full of change at quarterback. For more Cleveland Browns and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
