ONGC organises walkathon to promote cleanliness

Rajamahendravaram: Aspart of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada campaign, ONGC Rajahmundry Asset organised a walkathon from Kambalacheruvu junction to Pushkar Ghat on Friday to raise awareness about cleanliness and waste segregation. The event saw enthusiastic participation from hundreds of individuals, including ONGC employees, members of ONGC collectives, APSPF personnel, and students from Aditya Degree College. Speaking on the occasion, ED-Asset Manager Santanu Das said that ONGC's continued commitment to the goals of Swachhata Pakhwada, which was launched by the Government of India in 2016. He noted that through its CSR initiatives, ONGC actively engages employees, students, and residents to promote a culture of cleanliness. This year's campaign aligns with the theme 'Swachhata is Everyone's Business', reinforcing the collective responsibility of society in achieving a cleaner and healthier environment, he added. Expressing concern over the growing challenges of littering and solid waste management, Das further urged all citizens to unite in safeguarding public spaces. He reiterated ONGC's unwavering commitment to societal well-being and environmental sustainability, reaffirming its role as a responsible corporate entity. The Swachhata Pakhwada, a fortnight-long campaign, began on 1st July and will conclude on July 15, 2025 at ONGC Rajahmundry. The campaign features a series of activities aimed at promoting hygiene, sanitation, and environmental consciousness. These include workshops on waste management, cleanliness drives at various sites and operational areas, as well as creative competitions like quizzes, poster-making, and slogan-writing for school children. In addition, impactful 'Nukkad Nataks' (street plays) and cleanliness initiatives were carried out in and around operational zones to educate communities about effective solid waste management and to inspire positive behavioural change.

Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) Special Protection Force (APSPF) organised a mass yoga programme at Dr. Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) here on Friday (June 6) as part of the Yogandhra initiative in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21. Around 300 officers and staff from APSPF took part in the event, which was conducted under the guidance of Santivan Yoga Foundation founder L. Janardhan and under the supervision of APSPF Director-General C.M. Trivikrama Varma. Inspector General of Police B. Venkatarami Reddy, APSPF Commandant M. Sankar Rao, NTTPS Chief Engineer P. Siva Ramanjaneyulu and others were present.

Amalapuram: In response to escalating global tensions and the possibility of emergencies, the ONGC Rajahmundry Asset's Tatipaka Refinery conducted a comprehensive Civil Defence Preparedness Mock Drill on Friday. The exercise, organised in coordination with local police, CISF/APSPF, Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), and Revenue Inspector, aimed at educating and preparing local stakeholders for potential emergencies such as air strikes or fire incidents. The drill commenced with a detailed briefing session led by ONGC officials, who explained the ongoing situation and highlighted ONGC's readiness to manage fire-related emergencies resulting from hostile activities. Following the briefing, an emergency alarm was triggered, simulating a crisis at the refinery. As part of the mock drill, firefighting protocols were demonstrated, including the swift deployment of a fire tender. ONGC experts showcased the use of different types of fire extinguishers for various fire categories, educating the participants on the appropriate methods to contain and extinguish fires. An ambulance was also mobilised to exhibit emergency medical response capabilities. ONGC officials commended the crucial role of CISF and APSPF personnel in ensuring round-the-clock security. A short educational film from the Government of India was screened to make people aware of guidelines on protective measures during air raids. ONGC representatives urged the public to rely on verified sources of information and avoid being misled by fake messages circulating on social media.
