Piya Valecha donates her eyes on her birthday, says, 'This has been in my mind for the last few years'

Actress Piya Valecha, recognized for her roles in 'Imlie' and 'Choti Sarrdaarni,' commemorated her birthday by pledging her eyes for donation. Actor Piya Valecha, who was last seen in the TV show Imlie and had a cameo in Choti Sarrdaarni in 2023, marked her birthday this year with a gesture of quiet significance—by pledging her eyes for donation. 'This year, I decided to pledge my eyes so someone can see the world,' she shares. 'I feel don't just leave a will—leave a vision, so they can see the light. Donate your sight. This has been in my mind for the last few years. As I grow one more year older, I realise it's time I should do this.' She is hoping to encourage others to consider organ donation . 'Life is beautiful and everyone should be able to see a bright new day—and of course, their loved ones. I knew I had to do this one day, and what better day than my birthday?' The decision came during a period of personal reflection for the actor. 'I'm not in a mood to celebrate my birthday this year. Just spending time with my mom and close friends. They surprised me with a birthday cake and we shared some warm time together.' The actress also opened up about the difficult phase she's been navigating in both her personal and professional life after she lost her father in 2023. 'Life is tough sometimes, and when you don't see anything working, you should surrender—things will fall in place. Spirituality helped me deal with my mental and emotional health and come out of the darkness.' From watching in awe to being in the frame: Hitesh Bharadwaj shares Aahat to Aami Dakini journey

Television's Aami Dakini is already making waves with its gripping storytelling and unexpected turns. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Kolkata, the show marks a return to deeply immersive storytelling for the channel, bringing back the eerie thrill that once defined their iconic series, Aahat. The show stars Hitesh Bharadwaj as Ayaan, Sheen Das as Dakini, and Rachi Sharma in a pivotal role. Sharing his excitement, Hitesh Bharadwaj says, 'Aahat was a childhood ritual. There was something about its silence and sudden chills that drew me. It scared me, but I couldn't stop watching.' He recalls, 'I remember watching it with my cousins, all of us squeezed under one blanket—acting brave, but jumping at every sound, these memories are still vivid.' He adds, 'To now be part of a world that carries the same energy feels surreal. I've gone from being the kid on the couch to someone in the show. It's not just a role—it's personal. My Character Ayaan is a deeply layered man, stuck between reason and instinct, logic and belief. Playing him meant confronting fears that aren't always visible—emotional fears, internal battles. And that's what makes him real.' He further shared, "Ayaan is a layered character, emotionally driven and spiritually connected to his past. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Since he is a native of Kolkata, learning Bengali felt essential. It's helping me bring authenticity to my performance and truly inhabit Ayaan's world. This is not just about delivering lines but about honouring the character's heritage and emotional journey." Earlier, the actor quipped, "Aami Dakini isn't your typical story—it's layered, emotional, and quietly intense. As Ayaan, I had to strip away the usual dramatics and focus on stillness, on what isn't said. That was the real challenge. It taught me that in stories like this, mood matters more than spectacle. Every glance, every pause holds meaning. You're not just reacting to a scene—you're responding to an atmosphere where husn bhi hai, maut bhi. That duality stays with you, even after pack-up."

Exclusive - Rachi Sharma on Aami Dakini: This genre has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, and that's been a powerful experience as an actor

TV actress Rachi Sharma, known for her work in popular shows like Kumkum Bhagya , Durga Aur Charu, and Woh Toh Hai Albela, is now exploring a new genre with her upcoming show Aami Dakini. This is her first time doing a supernatural thriller. Set in the beautiful city of Kolkata, the show brings back the channel's focus on spooky, suspense-filled stories—similar to the well-known series Aahat. In a recent chat with Times of India TV, Rachi, who plays the role of Meera, talked about her experience with this new role. She shared how she prepared for the character and spoke about the pressure of performing in a genre that aims to scare and thrill viewers. Tell us about your role? I play the role of Meera Ghosh — a character with a lot of depth and emotion. Meera is strong, brave, and takes care of her entire family. She lives with her father and younger sister. After losing her mother at a young age, she didn't let it break her. Instead, she became the emotional support for her family. For Meera, her family has always come first. She lives a simple life and doesn't dream of anything big — her only wish is to keep her loved ones safe and happy. She is very protective of her younger sister and, after their mother passed away, she naturally took over that role, not just emotionally but in daily life too. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo Meera's story is filled with emotions like fear, love, sacrifice, and standing up for what's right. Even though she's not sure where life is leading her, fate keeps putting her in difficult and unexpected situations. The story is full of suspense and mystery, and as it moves forward, viewers will see how strong Meera is and how far she'll go to protect her family and the people she cares about. Did you have to go through any kind of preparations? Yes, I had to prepare a lot for this role because Meera is very different from any character I've played before. It was definitely challenging but also incredibly exciting. Since this is a horror show, the performance isn't just about reacting to fear, sometimes you have to hold the emotion silently in your body, in your eyes, and be fully present physically. One of the most fascinating aspects has been learning the technical side of things. Horror as a genre is so layered, and I've been drawing from everything I've ever watched, films, series, to channel the right emotions. That became my biggest reference point to understand how to portray fear, strength, and vulnerability all at once. Continued.... Meera is not a simple character — she keeps changing. At times, she breaks down, and at other times, she's scared, but she still finds the strength to move forward. It's a very deep and emotional role, and getting to know her has taken time. I've been lucky to have a lot of support from my director, Lalit Sir, as well as the writers and the creative team. They've helped and guided me throughout this journey. And honestly, the preparation never really stops. With every new script, the story becomes more intense and adds more layers to Meera's journey. That's why I keep learning and growing with each scene, discovering something new about her every day. How has the experience of working on the show been so far? It's truly been an incredible journey. The entire cast and crew have been nothing but supportive, and the energy on set is just fantastic. There's a genuine sense of passion in everyone's work, which is so important — especially in a genre like this. We all lift each other up, and that teamwork makes every day on set even more special. I'm really enjoying the process. This genre has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, and that's been a powerful experience as an actor. I'm learning something new every single day, and the best part is — I'm doing what I love. The channel is known for iconic horror shows like Aahat. Is there any pressure? I wouldn't call it pressure, but yes, there's definitely a sense of responsibility. Aahat set a high standard and created a lasting legacy, so naturally, people will come in with high expectations. And that's exactly why we're working so hard — to meet and exceed those expectations. I'm honestly 2,000% confident that the audience will connect with this show. It's not just a one-off episode experience. Each episode builds more intensity, more thrill — it just keeps getting better. Every time I receive a new script, I get goosebumps while reading it. That's how engaging it is. We're pouring our hearts into this project, and I believe it will truly leave a mark on viewers. When I first read about Dakini, I knew I had to dig deep. Dakini isn't just a spirit; she's a story of pain, betrayal, and revenge that never found peace.
