Superman Faces Tough Competition From Jurassic World Rebirth At Indian Box Office
Last Updated: Superman managed to earn over Rs 3 crore on Tuesday. Even though the numbers are not very high, the film is slowly gaining attention. Superman is back on the big screen with a new movie directed by James Gunn, starring David Corenswet. Although the film is getting good reviews in India, the number of people watching it in theatres is smaller compared to the older Superman movies with Henry Cavill. Still, the movie earned more on Tuesday thanks to cheaper ticket prices, which helped it get a boost on its fifth day. Despite facing tough competition from other movies like Maalik, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth, the new DC Studios film managed to earn Rs 3 crore on Tuesday. Even though the numbers are not very high, the film is slowly gaining attention. The movie had an impressive start, as it earned Rs 7.25 Crore on Day 1. This was followed by Rs 9.5 Crore on the second day and Rs 9.25 Crore on the third day. On Day 4, the film saw a drop and collected just Rs 2.6 Crore. However, it picked up slightly on Day 5 with a collection of Rs 3 Crore. With these numbers, the total box office collection in five days stands at Rs 31.6 Crore, as per Sacnilk reports. In the domestic market, Superman opened strong with $125 million and currently, it stands at $137 Million. Globally, the film has collected $232 million so far. Among international markets, the highest earnings have come from the United Arab Emirates, where the movie has made $2 million till now. Superman is a big-budget film, but writer-director James Gunn doesn't seem too worried about the pressure that usually comes with such a project. Gunn, who also runs DC Studios along with Peter Safran, recently spoke to GQ magazine and shared that he doesn't see the movie as a huge risk, even though many people believe it is. According to him, the situation isn't risky. Gunn said, 'This is not the riskiest endeavour in the world. Is there something riding on it? Yeah, but it's not as big as people make it out to be. They hear these numbers that the movie's only going to be successful if it makes 700 million or something and it's just complete and utter nonsense. It doesn't need to be as big of a situation as people are saying." Box Office: Superman benefits from the discounted Tuesday offer, holds well on day 5 to collect Rs 3 crore
Superman, starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and others, is performing decently at the Indian box office. The James Gunn-directed movie benefits from Tuesday's discounted ticket prices, as it has registered a notable jump on Day 5. Superman collected Rs 3 crore on Day 5, crossing the Rs 30 crore mark Distributed by Warner Bros Pictures, the movie hit the screens on July 11th. It clashed with Maalik and Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, other than holdover releases, F1, and Jurassic World: Rebirth. Debuted with Rs 6.75 crore, the movie witnessed a good jump on its following day and collected Rs 9 crore on Saturday. However, the movie didn't show any growth on Sunday and remained flat. It wrapped its opening weekend at Rs 24.50 crore net in India. The movie further registered a big drop on its first Monday and collected Rs 2.85 crore. According to estimates, it witnessed a jump today and added Rs 3 crore to the tally, bringing the total cumulative to slightly over Rs 30 crore net at the Indian box office. Maalik Box Office Collection Day 4: Rajkummar Rao's film is still Rs 40 crore short of recovering its budget
Rajkummar Rao's foray into the gangster genre, Maalik, opened to a lukewarm response from audiences on its first day. However, the film witnessed modest growth over the weekend, earning an estimated Rs 14.25 crore in India. And now, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, Maalik has collected around Rs 1.65 crore on its fourth day (Monday), bringing its total domestic collection to approximately Rs 15.90 crore. The film recorded an overall 9.54% Hindi occupancy on day four. It began on a disappointing note, with only 5.12% occupancy in the morning shows. The trend remained relatively flat throughout the day, with afternoon and evening shows recording 9.54% and 10.01% respectively. The night shows peaked slightly at 13.49%. Interestingly, Tier-2 cities like Jaipur and Lucknow were among the strongest markets for the film, registering occupancies of 15.25% and 13.25% respectively. In contrast, traditionally strong territories such as Delhi-NCR and Mumbai lagged behind with 9.75% and 12.00% respectively. That film has managed to earn only around Rs 20 lakh on day four, with its four-day total hovering near Rs 1.35 crore, a major blow for a project reportedly made on a budget of Rs 50 crore. Despite this edge, Maalik is trailing behind Rajkummar Rao's previous releases. His recent sports drama Mr & Mrs Mahi had crossed Rs 19 crore in its first four days, while Bhool Chuk Maaf earned over Rs 30 crore in the same time frame. Maalik is also contending with stiff competition from Superman, which remains the top choice among moviegoers and has raked in over Rs 28.25 crore in just four days. Other releases still holding ground in their second week, like Metro… In Dino, are also posing a challenge, with collections inching closer to the Rs 40 crore mark. With minimal word-of-mouth buzz and largely negative reviews from critics, Maalik faces an uphill climb to recover its reported budget of Rs 54 crore.
