Made in Rs 70 crore, This film was banned in Pakistan, became blockbuster in India, Pakistani Prime Minister regrets banning the film, name is…, earned Rs…

Pakistan's former federal information minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, has expressed regret over the 2017 ban on Aamir Khan's Dangal, stating it stifled a film that could have inspired many young girls. The decision, made without even viewing the film, remains one she wishes she could undo. Why was Dangal banned in Pakistan? Dangal, the 2016 sports-drama starring Aamir Khan, was hugely successful in India and China, and was poised for release in Pakistan after a ban on Indian films was lifted around 2016–17. However, Pakistan's Central Board of Film Censors raised objections to pivotal scenes featuring the Indian national flag and anthem, pushing the authorities to reject the film unless those were removed. Minister Aurangzeb later regretted the ban In a recent podcast, Aurangzeb revealed she had never watched the movie before approving its ban. After finally viewing Dangal roughly 18 months later, she admitted her error, 'Yes, if there is one regret that I have when I was the Federal information minister it was banning the screening of Dangal in Pakistan … When I saw the film after a year and a half, I realised my decision to approve the ban was wrong. It was a film which was inspirational for our girls and was close to home.' Aamir Khan refused to edit the film Aamir Khan stood firm on preserving the integrity of his film. On Aap Ki Adalat, he revealed Pakistan authorities had demanded cuts to scenes showing the flag and anthem. He declined, stating, 'Anyone who asks us to remove our national flag and national anthem … I don't want that business.' What Dangal achieved despite the ban Despite missing Pakistani screens, Dangal became one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever, garnering over Rs 2,000 Cr globally, made in just Rs 70 crore, with significant earnings from China and beyond. Its themes of female empowerment resonated across borders, making the ban even more regrettable in hindsight. Why the regret matters now Between 2008 and 2019, Pakistani audiences embraced Indian cinema from Dangal to Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. But since the 2019 reinstatement of the ban, cinemas have struggled without Bollywood hits. Aurangzeb's admission highlights the cultural and artistic loss created by reacting first and thinking later.

Govinda's Wife Sunita On Actor Being Offered James Cameron's Avatar: 'Jhooth Ka Saath Nahi Dungi'

Govinda once claimed he turned down James Cameron's Avatar, citing health concerns over body paint and a long shoot. His wife Sunita now weighs in on it. Years ago, Govinda claimed he was offered James Cameron's Avatar but decided against it. He even said he suggested the title himself and knew the project would take seven years to complete. The actor explained why he walked away. 'I have left an offer of Rs 21.5 crore, and I remember this because it was very painful leaving it … I have given the film's title – Avatar. James told me the hero in the film was handicapped, so I said I am not doing the film. He offered me Rs 18 crore for it and said I would be required to shoot for 410 days. I said that is okay, but if I paint my body, I will be in the hospital," he had said on Aap Ki Adalat. Govinda also emphasised his priorities, saying, 'Our body is the only instrument we have… at times, some things appear very appealing professionally, but you also have to see their effects on your body." Now, in a chat with Uorfi Javed, Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, clarified that she's unaware of it. 'Arre yaar mujhe nahi pata kab offer hui. 40 saal toh mujhe hogaye Govinda ke saath. Avatar ka director, producer kab aaya mujhe nahi maalum (I don't know when the offer came. I have spent 40 years with Govinda. I don't know when the director and producer of Avatar came)." She went on to add, 'Huyi bhi hai ke nahi I don't know. Main jhooth nahi bolti na main chugli karungi idhar naa main kisika side lungi. Main jhooth ka saath nahi dungi (I don't know if it was offered or not. I don't lie, I will not gossip, nor will I take anyone's side. I will not support lies)." Sunita also said Govinda has no plans to take on reality TV. When asked whether Govinda might join a show like The Traitors, Sunita laughed and said, 'Govinda pehle picture karle bahut kaafi hai. Hum wait kar rahe hai ke picture kab karega woh (It will be enough if Govinda does a film first. We are waiting when he will do a film)." The actor last film appearance was in 2019 in a movie titled Rangeela Raja. First Published:

Aamir Khan breaks down recalling his decision to quit films: 'I knew what my directors' dreams and fears were, but not my own children's'

Before the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan broke down in tears while speaking about a deeply personal phase in his life, one where he contemplated walking away from films to make up for the time he felt he lost with his children and family. The superstar, who has been a part of Indian cinema for over three decades, shared that the Covid-19 pandemic was a turning point that made him reassess his priorities. 'I had not given them any time' Aamir recounted how, during the lockdown, he realised just how much he had neglected his personal life in pursuit of his career. 'All these 18 years of my life were filled with passion, magic and a craze for creativity,' he said in an emotional appearance on Aap Ki Adalat. 'But I was 56, and I started thinking — what have I done with my family, my children, my ammi, and my siblings? I had not given them any time.' With tears in his eyes, the Dangal star shared that his children Ira and Junaid were already in their twenties, and he had no idea what their childhood dreams or insecurities were. 'I knew what my directors' (Ashutosh Gowariker) dreams and fears were, but not my own children's. When I realised this, I was depressed for three days.' Aamir's decision to quit and what changed his mind It was during this time that Aamir decided Laal Singh Chaddha would be his last film. He informed his family and even called Sitaare Zameen Par director RS Prasanna to step away from acting in the project. But it was his children, and ex-wife Kiran Rao, who eventually pulled him back. 'Junaid told me, 'Papa, you're being an extremist. Earlier you gave everything to films, and now you want to give everything to us. There's a middle path.'' Ira, too, expressed that he had already spent significant time with them, and they had their own lives to lead. Kiran, visibly moved, told Aamir, 'You are a child of cinema. If you leave films, you'll leave us too. Don't do that.' Their words struck a chord. Aamir Khan, Gauri & Azad Steal the Spotlight at Sitaare Zameen Par Premiere Aamir's promise: 'I will never leave cinema' When Aamir was asked if he could now promise fans that he wouldn't leave films again, the actor responded with conviction, 'I want to promise here, in this show, I will never leave the film industry. Whatever I am today is because of the affection of my fans. I am grateful to all. I thank the Almighty for granting me this. I am grateful to my country, my soil and my people.'

'Mujhe itna dar laga…': When Salman Khan warned fans not to follow his ‘Tere Naam' character

Salman Khan 's portrayal of Radhe in the 2003 cult classic Tere Naam remains one of his most talked-about performances. But behind the intensity and heartbreak of the character was a very real fear, not for himself, but for his fans. Earlier Salman revealed in a conversation on Aap Ki Adalat, how deeply uneasy he felt about playing Radhe, a tragically obsessive lover. 'Mujhe itna dar laga, ki maine socha mai ye nahi karunga,' he admitted, reflecting on how the disturbing nature of Radhe's character made him reconsider even taking up the role. 'Don't Be Like Radhe,' Warns Salman Salman went on to explain that Tere Naam marked the first time in his career where he had planned how to promote the film before shooting even began. His message was clear: 'Ye picture zaroor dekhna, but is character ko kabhi follow mat karna' — watch the movie, but don't imitate the character. Calling Radhe a 'loser,' Salman highlighted how the character destroys his own life in blind obsession over a girl. 'Yeh ek ladki ke piche pagal ho raha hai aur apni zindagi barbad kar diya… age badho life me,' he urged his fans. He feared that Radhe's extreme actions like stalking and emotional turmoil might be misinterpreted as signs of true love by impressionable viewers. Reel vs. Real: Style, Not Substance Salman's hairstyle, fashion, and intense expressions in the film became iconic — aspects Salman said fans could follow. But he stressed drawing the line between on-screen dramatics and real-life behavior. Coming to present, Salman Khan was recently seen in the action entertainer film 'Sikandar' which received mediocre reviews from the audiences. The movie was directed by AR Murugadoss.
