ACME Comics and Collectibles celebrates 30 Years in Business
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A special anniversary today for a Sioux City business.
Acme Comics and Collectibles celebrated 30 years of business on Saturday. The business started in 1995 on Hamilton Boulevard, then moved to its current location on Pierce Street in 2001.
Saturday's celebration included raffles, a food truck and specials on comic books. There were also characters from Star Wars and Ghostbusters on hand, along with Wolverine and Spiderman-Noir to take pictures with fans.
'Back in 1995 we opened up our little store to kind of be a place for all nerds to congregate and have fun and to be themselves and here we are, 30 years later,' said Kevin McGarry, the co-owner.
If you weren't able to get to ACME Comics on Saturday, coming up on May 3rd, they will have their 24th annual 'free comic book day.' People will be able to get a free comic book between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
