Danone Sales Rise More Than Expected on Protein Products Demand
Danone SA sales beat expectations as the French consumer goods company saw volumes rise in most of its categories, including high-protein products. Sales increased 4.1% on a like-for-like basis in the second quarter, the producer of Activia yogurt and Volvic water said Wednesday, beating the 3.8% growth forecast by analysts. It has beaten top-line sales expectations every quarter since early 2021.

Curtis also admitted that she never intended to be an actor. 'I got 840 combined on my SATs. I was gonna be a cop. Honestly I thought I was gonna be a police officer,' she revealed. Jamie Lee Curtis shifted to starring in commercials to spend more time with her children. Curtis faced skepticism from her team but proved them wrong as her career still thrived afterward. After having a storied career as an actor, Curtis decided to transition to selling stuff in commercials — from Hertz rental cars, her first advertising gig, to becoming the spokesperson for Activia in the 2010s. "My agents and lawyers and many friends questioned why I would do such a thing when I was still acting in things and pretending to be other people," she told an engaged crowd Monday at the Amazon Port during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. "I was trying to stay home with my kid," she explained. Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest, adopted two children after dealing with infertility issues. Doing advertisements for brands such as L'eggs pantyhose, Hitachi, and a regional phone carrier, Voice Stream Wireless, which eventually became T-Mobile, meant Curtis spent less time on movie sets and more time raising her girls, Annie and Ruby, who are now adults. The actor noted that despite hesitations from her team about what starring in commercials would do to her film career, she'd still go on to star in blockbuster films such as 2018's " Halloween," 2019's " Knives Out," and 2022's " Everything Everywhere All at Once," for which she earned a supporting actress Oscar award for playing IRS auditor, Deirdre Beaubeirdre. Jamie Lee Curtis revealed she underwent cosmetic surgery in her 20s after her looks were criticised by a cinematographer on the set of her 1985 film 'Perfect' set. However, the award winning actress said she has regretted the decision ever since. During an appearance on '60 minutes', Lee Curtis said: "(The cinematographer) was like: 'Yeah, I'm not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy'. And I was 25? So, for him to say that was very embarrassing. So as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery. When asked how the surgery went, Lee Curtis replied: "Not well. That's just not what you wanna do when you're 25 or 26. And I regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it since... Way so now because I've become a really public advocate to say to women: 'You're gorgeous and you're perfect the way you are.' So oh, yeah I ... it was not a good thing for me to do." Though Curtis, 66, is well-known for her roles in movies like Halloween and Friday Friday, she is also popular for her commercial work, which included a lucrative deal as a spokesperson for the probiotic yogurt in the mid-2000s. She would often pop up on ads for the product during popular TV shows on the likes of Disney Channel and Bravo, making it known around the country that she was a big fan of the healthy treat. Curtis became so well-known for the commercial that it even made it to Saturday Night Live, as Kristen Wiig parodied the segment as the actress, joking that all of the prebiotic yogurt was giving her some crazy stomach issues. But while some may have believed it was a big pivot from her work in big-budget films, Curtis revealed during a new segment on 60 Minutes that she wanted to take the deal because it allowed her more time to be at home with her two children, Ruby and Annie. 'For the most part, they allowed me to stay home with my kids,' Curtis revealed during her interview, which premiered this weekend. The company later reimbursed customers and modified the brand's marketing claims. At the time, Activia wasn't the only deal that Curtis took - Curtis was also a spokesperson for Hertz car rental company and L'eggs pantyhose. And, later in the interview, she was asked if there was ever a role that she wish she had taken, to which she said no. Today, her acting career is still thriving, as she accepted the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2023 for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. In addition to her supporting role win, she was also part of the winning group for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture honor.
