Ex-Boston Public Schools science teacher indicted on federal child porn charges

Gavin allegedly used the instant messaging app Discord to exchange nude photos with at least 20 girls, who were between 12 and 17 years old, who live in six states, as well as Great Britain and Canada, according to the US Attorney's office. 'It is alleged that, in these chats, Gavin disclosed that he was a teacher, engaged in sexual conversations and often asked the minors to send him pictures of themselves engaged in sexually explicit conduct – knowing that the children were underaged," prosecutors wrote in a statement released Friday. Advertisement 'The chats also allegedly included conversations in which Gavin expressed his sexual interest in certain students at Josiah Quincy,' prosecutors said. At the time of his arrest on state charges, Gavin was placed on leave from his job at the school. Prior to that, Gavin was a 6thgrade teacher at the Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School in Hyde Park and was former classroom aide at the Roland Hayes School in Brookline, prosecutors said. Four males arrested for allegedly robbing jewelry store in North Andover, leading police on chase into Lawrence
Officers chased the vehicle along Route 125 and onto Sutton Street, where it merged onto Route 495, North Andover police said. Advertisement The suspects were driving a Honda CRV, Lawrence police said in a statement. Officers pursued the vehicle into Lawrence where it crashed near Marston Street. The suspects ran into nearby residential neighborhoods and wooded areas, Lawrence police said. Other departments, including the State Police, Methuen police, the Essex County Sheriff's Department and the FBI responded to the scene and set up a containment perimeter, Lawrence police said. They began a search of the area that included drones, K9 units and a State Police air wing. One of the suspects was arrested after a brief foot chase, Lawrence police said. A Lawrence officer, who was working a detail, saw the other three suspects hiding in a crawl space beneath the double-decker bridge, Lawrence police said. Police identify man shot and killed in Dorchester
There were five homicides during the same period last year, Boyle said. The ShotSpotter system detected the gunfire on Levant Street at 8:51 p.m. Dispatchers notified officers en route that a man had been shot in front of 4 Levant St., police said. Four teenage boys arrested for allegedly driving stolen car, and carrying a gun
All four teenagers are being charged as delinquents. Officers were told to be on the lookout for a stolen motor vehicle at about 5:31 a.m. The vehicle was reported stolen from 398 Cambridge St. in Brighton at around 7:12 p.m. on Friday. Early the next day, it was then seen by Newton Police fleeing a breaking and entering at 376 Watertown St. in Newton. Advertisement Wentworth Institute of Technology police also said the vehicle was seen on camera driving on Ruggles Street in Boston around 5 a.m. Boston police responded to the area of 60 Southern Ave. following a report of a person in possession of a gun at about 5:24 a.m. 'Officers advised that four individuals attempted to rob a victim and displayed a firearm,' Boston police said. 'The suspects fled the scene, and officers were able to broadcast a description of the fleeing vehicle.' An officer saw the vehicle on Warren Street going towards Dudley Street. The officer requested assistance in stopping the vehicle. Other officers arrived and attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Dudley and Dearborn Streets, but the vehicle drove around multiple marked police cruisers and sped off. Advertisement The vehicle drove through a red light at the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard and Columbus Avenue before officers lost sight of the vehicle, and began to search the area of Tremont Street and Saint Alphonsus Street. 'A supervisor was able to review cameras and could see that the vehicle never left the area,' police said. The vehicle was found in a public open garage underneath 75 Saint Alphonsus St. at about 6 a.m. It was parked crooked and partially protruding out of the marked lanes. Multiple vape products were found inside the vehicle. The Newton Police Department took custody of the vehicle, and it was towed to their Police Station. The four boys were then seen walking in the area of 1600 Tremont St. and police chased them until they were apprehended at the intersection of Huntington Avenue and Tremont Street. Officers searched the boys and recovered multiple stolen vape products. A spent shell casing was recovered from one of the 15-year-old boys, and the stolen car keys were found in possession of the 16-year-old. A gun was recovered from the 14-year-old, which was determined to be a Palmetto Armory with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in a large capacity magazine. The firearm also had a laser sight affixed to it. The 14-year-old gave the officers a false name during the booking process, but they were able to determine his real name and discovered he had an active warrant from juvenile court for firearm related offenses.
