Aldi's new £10 gadget 'so handy' for making notes is 'life hack'
Shoppers say they 'need' the new product that could help make daily chores easier to complete It's no secret that most of us love a life hack to make our routines a bit easier, and Aldi's latest Specialbuys range is designed to do just that. The supermarket has launched a new "Life Hacks range" ideal for shoppers who want a quick fix for common problems. The new range, available in stores from July 13, includes household items, such as a robotic vacuum cleaner and a smart kettle. Aldi said: "These ingenious gadgets offer clever shortcuts to aid everything from stress-free mornings to spotless homes, with prices starting at just £5.99. "Aldi's life hack heroes will be in stores from 13th July, but shoppers best be quick, as with all Specialbuys, once they're gone, they're gone!" Options include a Wooden Wireless Charging Clock and Pet Auto Waterer. There's also a £9.99 item that has delighted shoppers on social media: the Mini Thermal Printer. Aldi said the printer helps shoppers "print photos and notes on the go." As such, it could simplify various tasks, from making a checklist for your weekly chores to planning a shopping list. Alternatively, you could use the printer for quick photos, just like Aldi did in a post showcased on its Instagram. In a photo shared on social media by @aldispecialbuysuk, the printer is seen in action, printing black and white photos of the supermarket and Kevin the Carrot. The caption read: "Don't mind Admin being sentimental and printing a few of our fave pics. Who needs to grab one of these for their photo wall? Mini Thermal Printer £9.99 in store now!" The post received thousands of views and wowed shoppers who reacted in the comment section. One excited commenter wrote: "I feel this is very needed so us!!" A fan echoed: "NEED." @aldispecialbuysuk replied: "It's so handy." Someone else commented: "Love that Kevin is there!" Other commenters said they'd struggled to find the printer in their local store. One response read: "Hi these look great - are they available at all stores? Our local never heard of them!!" @aldispecialbuysuk said: "Our Specialbuys are stocked in all our UK stores, while stock lasts." A second said: "Tried to find in my local one and they hadn't arrived," but a later comment added: "My hubby managed to get the last one in other aldi today." As such, shoppers will likely need to be quick if they're keen to get their hands on the camera or other items in the range, including the £29.99 Smart Kettle and the £99.99 Robot Vacuum Cleaner. Describing the Smart Kettle, Aldi said:" With a sleek stainless-steel, matte black finish, app-control over both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enables it to be switched on from the comfort of bed, while simple temperature control from 40 to 100 degrees Celsius means it is always just right. "Need a bit longer in bed? Just turn on the 'keep warm' function. Featuring an easy-to-use touch screen and simple temperature display, shoppers can enjoy peace of mind thanks to the automatic switch off safety feature."

Underpass project: officials say 85pc work completed
ISLAMABAD: The construction work on the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass project has been completed 85 percent, officials confirmed. Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa, accompanied by Member Admin, Member Engineering and Member Estate, visited the project site to assess the pace and quality of the ongoing development work. The visit was part of efforts to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure projects under the directives of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. During the on-site briefing, project officials informed Chairman Randhawa that the structural framework of the underpass is nearly complete, and finishing work has begun. The remaining tasks include final touches to the concrete work, installation of electrical systems, and the implementation of horticultural features to enhance the overall aesthetics. Work on the drainage system, asphalt laying, and road surfacing is progressing rapidly. The beautification phase, which includes the planting of environmentally friendly greenery and installation of modern LED lighting, is also underway. Chairman Randhawa emphasised that work must continue 24/7 on all fronts to meet the project deadline. He reiterated that no negligence will be tolerated and that quality construction and visual appeal must go hand-in-hand. He stated that the project, once completed, will serve as a key link for travellers between Islamabad International Airport and the scenic regions of Murree and Kashmir, offering signal-free, smooth passage. 'With 85 percent of the work completed, we are close to delivering a major urban mobility solution that will ease congestion, save fuel, and improve the travel experience for citizens,' he remarked. The CDA hopes to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe, marking another achievement in Islamabad's expanding road infrastructure network. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Capgemini's new approach, powered by generative and agentic AI, gives those organizations that have been wedded to complex mainframe environments the ability to gain cost savings and agility, as well as a significant improvement in data quality. It converts legacy mainframe applications into more modern, agile, and cloud-friendly formats that can run more efficiently either on or outside of a mainframe. Automated mainframe application refactoring involves using tools and techniques to automatically convert legacy mainframe applications, such as those written in COBOL and their respective databases and data files. Embedded with a set of generative AI assistants and AI agents, Capgemini's new offering automates legacy code analysis and extraction of business rules, quickly transforming them into modern architecture. It is also supported with rigorous automated testing for faster, higher-quality transformations and reduced risk for businesses. 'Many organizations have already explored various mainframe migration approaches like rehosting, but none of these lead to a mainframe exit option,' said Franck Greverie, Chief Portfolio & Technology Officer, Head of the Global Business Lines, and Group Executive Board Member at Capgemini. 'Our new automated approach, built on a combination of gen AI assistants and AI agents, provides a comprehensive understanding of an enterprise's existing legacy landscape.
