Israeli fresh attacks kill dozens across Gaza, including aid seekers

DaysofPal – The Israeli Occupation Forces have killed at least 39 Palestinians, including 15 people waiting for humanitarian aid, and wounded dozens more since dawn Wednesday in a wave of airstrikes and gunfire that struck across the Gaza Strip, from its northern areas to its far south. According to medical sources and eyewitnesses, the latest Israeli attacks targeted homes, shelters for displaced people, and aid distribution points, killing civilians in Deir al-Balah, Rafah, Gaza City, and Khan Yunis. In one of the most deadly strikes, five people were killed while waiting for aid in western Rafah, while another five were killed in Deir al-Balah during a bombing that struck a civilian gathering. In Khan Yunis, Israeli forces killed at least 12 Palestinians in three separate attacks on tents sheltering displaced families. Additional bombings in the same area killed two more people in Al-Mawasi and injured others. In central Gaza, 10 Palestinians were killed and more than 50 injured after Israeli forces opened fire on aid recipients along Salah al-Din Street and in the Netzarim area. Three others were killed in Israeli strikes targeting civilian gatherings in the city center, while two bodies were recovered from the eastern outskirts of Khan Yunis. In Gaza City, eight people were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in the Al-Mashhara area of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. The adjacent Al-Zaytoun district also came under intense aerial and artillery fire overnight. The attacks come amid what Palestinian officials and international organizations describe as a genocidal war, now in its 21st month, marked by mass killings, starvation, and the destruction of basic infrastructure across the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian conditions have continued to deteriorate sharply. On Tuesday, the Gaza Health Ministry announced that the number of Palestinians killed at aid distribution centers operated under the U.S.-Israeli mechanism since May 27 has risen to 600, with 4,278 others wounded. These attacks have turned life-saving aid sites into deadly zones. Meanwhile, the United Nations reported that 1,500 families have been newly displaced in recent days, primarily from northern Gaza and eastern areas under Israeli evacuation orders. According to UNRWA, 82% of the Gaza Strip is now under evacuation orders, and most Palestinians 'have nowhere to go,' as schools, hospitals, and shelters are either destroyed or targeted. Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor to UNRWA, described the situation as a 'massive wave of displacement' coinciding with the intensification of Israeli military operations. 'The humanitarian situation in Gaza is beyond critical,' said a relief worker in Deir al-Balah. 'Even those lining up for flour or shelter can be killed without warning.' With no safe zones left and aid corridors repeatedly attacked, Gaza's 2.2 million residents remain trapped in one of the world's most densely populated and devastated war zones, as the violence continues without pause. UNRWA: "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" Far removed from International Humanitarian System

Gaza – Saba: Dr. Adnan Abu Hasna, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated on Saturday that the actions of the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" (an Israeli-American aid distribution mechanism) are entirely detached from the international humanitarian system. Dozens of Palestinians are being killed and injured daily, while this organization lacks the necessary expertise in humanitarian work. In a statement to the Russian news agency Sputnik, he added: "Humanitarian work means reaching the hungry and exhausted where they are, not summoning them or demanding that hundreds of thousands gather in specific areas—only for them to be shot at while coming or going, resulting in this unprecedented and massive death toll." He emphasized that this organization does not adhere to the contractual humanitarian conditions with those affected or in need of assistance. Additionally, there are genuine concerns about hidden political agendas, as several Israeli officials have openly stated that the goal is to push Palestinians toward the south of the enclave as a prelude to their displacement. He continued: "It is utterly unreasonable to replace 400 UNRWA food distribution points with just four. Instead of thousands of experienced staff, only a few dozen military personnel—with no expertise in this work—are operating. The foundation lacks sufficient data, unlike UNRWA, which has detailed records on family sizes, poverty levels, and humanitarian conditions." "We hope everyone wakes up and returns this work to the United Nations, which has operated in Gaza through UNRWA for 76 years, carrying out these operations systematically. Continuing in this tragic and disastrous manner will have catastrophic consequences—primarily due to non-compliance with humanitarian standards, lack of experience, suspicions about the organization's motives, and its inability to address people's needs." He noted that the amount of aid allowed in has been extremely limited: since May 19, only 10,000 tons have entered—equivalent to what Gaza would typically receive in a single day. "We cannot claim this is a genuine aid operation. The solution is to open the crossings, allow aid in large quantities, and enable the UN to conduct humanitarian and relief operations to address the catastrophe in Gaza." Amid widespread hunger in Gaza following the suspension of UNRWA aid distribution at around 400 points, residents are now relying on newly established aid centers—only four in total—run by the US and Israeli-backed "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation." Gaza under fire, famine: Escalation deepens amid unclear hopes for ceasefire

The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Saturday that its fighters had targeted four Israeli engineering vehicles east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza using 'Yassin-105' shells, claiming to have inflicted multiple casualties on Israeli forces. Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, reported a series of attacks across the besieged enclave, including the downing of an Israeli reconnaissance drone over the Shuja'iyya neighbourhood of Gaza City. The strikes came on the 103rd day of renewed fighting, as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to spiral. The Government Media Office in Gaza said the number of children who have died from malnutrition has risen to 66, amid warnings from health officials that thousands more are at imminent risk of starvation due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and severe restrictions on aid. Gaza's Health Ministry reported that hospitals had received 81 fatalities and 422 wounded individuals in the past 24 hours, raising the overall death toll since 7 October 2023, to more than 56,000, with over 133,000 injured. Israeli airstrikes continued to pound multiple areas of Gaza throughout the day. Medical sources confirmed that at least 60 Palestinians had been killed since Saturday morning. Simultaneously, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces launched a new wave of raids and arrests, while settler violence against Palestinian residents has also escalated. On the humanitarian front, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that Gaza's healthcare system is facing 'critical challenges,' citing the widespread destruction of medical facilities and ongoing restrictions on fuel and medical supplies. UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna condemned the current US-Israeli aid delivery mechanism, describing it as 'harsh and abhorrent,' and urged a return to UN-supervised distribution. He accused the mechanism of transforming aid routes into 'a killing zone,' pointing to over 400 deaths from starvation-related causes since the system was introduced a month ago. UNRWA reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent lifting of the siege to enable the regular delivery of life-saving aid into Gaza. In a separate statement, Hamas accused Israel of committing war crimes through systematic starvation and indiscriminate bombardment, specifically targeting children. The group urged the international community to intervene and claimed the United States was offering political cover to Israel, enabling what it described as 'ongoing atrocities.' Hamas said the deaths of over 66 children from starvation alone amounted to a violation of international humanitarian law, stressing that the continued siege was an intentional act of collective punishment. Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted government officials expressing surprise and skepticism over US President Donald Trump's claim that a ceasefire deal could be finalised as early as next week. Israeli sources stated there had been no notable progress in indirect negotiations between Hamas and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, casting doubt on Trump's optimism. They suggested the US president's comments may reflect 'wishful thinking' or a political manoeuvre aimed at capitalising on the recent de-escalation with Iran. In Europe, tens of thousands rallied across major cities—including Rome, Berlin, Eindhoven, and Manchester—demanding an immediate end to the war in Gaza and stronger international intervention to halt the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe. Despite mounting civilian casualties, the spread of famine, and growing international outcry, hopes for a comprehensive ceasefire remain dim, as both military operations and political stalemates persist.

UNRWA: 200-mln-dollar shortage threatens all our operations

New York - Saba: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that it is experiencing an extremely serious financial crisis, suffering a deficit estimated at approximately $200 million, threatening its ability to continue until the end of the current year. According to UNRWA's official website, the agency's media advisor, Adnan Abu Hasna, explained in a press statement on Monday that the crisis is not limited to the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, but rather extends to all of UNRWA's areas of operation, including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and East Quds. He noted that the financial situation is extremely critical. He called on the international community to take action to support the agency, noting that this is not the sole responsibility of UNRWA, but rather the responsibility of the member states of the United Nations General Assembly. He added that "UNRWA is not a company and does not receive its funding from taxes, as governments do." Rather, approximately 90% of its budget depends on donations, and the only alternative is to support the agency. Abu Hasna had previously sounded the alarm when he stated that UNRWA's available funding is sufficient until the end of June, calling on the Arab world to take action to financially support the agency. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from UN member states. The Agency's services include education, health care, relief, infrastructure, camp improvement, community support, microfinance, and emergency response, including in times of armed conflict. UNRWA warns of severe financial crisis threatening continuity of its services

New York: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that it is facing a severe financial crisis that threatens its ability to continue operating until the end of the current year. UNRWA's media advisor, Adnan Abu Hasna, said in a press release that the financial shortfall is not confined to the Gaza Strip or the West Bank but extends across all UNRWA areas of operation, including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and East Jerusalem. He revealed that the agency is currently grappling with a deficit of approximately $200 million. Abu Hasna urged the international community to act swiftly to support the agency, emphasising that this responsibility does not rest solely on UNRWA's shoulders, but is a collective obligation of all United Nations General Assembly member states. He had previously raised the alarm by announcing that UNRWA's available funds would only cover operations until the end of June, calling for immediate financial assistance to sustain the agency's vital work. UNRWA relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions from UN member states to fund its operations. The agency plays a critical role in providing essential services to millions of Palestinian refugees, including education, healthcare, relief assistance, infrastructure development, camp improvements, community support programmes, microfinance services, and emergency humanitarian aid, particularly during times of conflict.
