‘Maa' Becomes Kajol's 8th Biggest Hit, but 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'Shall Remains Unbeaten at 7
Kajol's recent film, Maa, has become her 8th highest-grossing movie with Rs 35.64 crore after 18 days, marking a decent box-office performance. Despite a promising start, Maa experienced a significant drop in collections during its second week. It is unlikely to surpass the evergreen classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which remains her 7th biggest hit with Rs 46. Kajol , one of Bollywood's most iconic actresses, continues to charm audiences with her diverse range of performances. Over the years, she has amassed a long list of hit films, many of which have enjoyed tremendous box-office success. Recently, her movie Maa has been making waves and has officially become her 8th highest-grossing film at the box office. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More With a total collection of Rs 35.64 crore after 18 days, Maa has proven to be a decent hit, but despite this success, it's unlikely to replace the evergreen classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Rs 46.88 crore) as Kajol's 7th biggest hit. Maa's Box Office Journey: The box-office journey of Maa began with a promising opening. On Day 1 (Friday), the film earnedRs 4.65 crore, setting a decent pace. The movie's numbers continued to grow steadily over the weekend, reaching Rs 6 crore on Saturday and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. This early momentum indicated that the film could enjoy a healthy run in theatres. However, like most films, Maa saw a significant decline starting on Monday, when collections fell by a dramatic 64.29% toRs 2.5 crore. This was followed by more fluctuations throughout the week. Despite these dips, the film's performance remained somewhat consistent in the first week, ending withRs 26.5 crore in its first week—a solid total for a mid-range film. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Week 2: A Sharp Drop in Numbers: The second week of Maa was less promising, with a steep 70.57% decline in collections compared to the first week. Day 8 (Friday) brought in Rs 1 crore, a 33.33% drop from the previous day. Despite a minor recovery on Saturday, with collections rising to Rs 1.75 crore (+75%) and Rs 2.35 crore ( + 34 %)the film struggled to hold onto its audience in the week. By Day 14 (Thursday), collections had fallen to Rs 50 lakh , signaling a waning interest from moviegoers. Week 3 and Beyond: As of Day 18, Maa has grossed Rs 35.64 crore. However, the film has shown very little potential for growth in its third the four days of Week , the film has earned only Rs 1.34 crore and going by the upcoming release like Saiyaara and existing films like Sitaare Zameen Par, , Jurassic Park: Rebirth, Maa doesnt seem to have long legs left at the box office, , further solidifying that it will fall short of surpassing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Why Maa Won't Surpass Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Despite Maa's respectable position at the 8th spot in Kajol's career earnings, replacing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan , Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan- directed by Karan Johar as her 7th biggest hit seems unlikely. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has firmly etched itself into the Bollywood pantheon, not just for its box office numbers but for its cultural impact. With a lifetime collection of Rs 46.88 crore, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a film that continues to have a lasting appeal, especially among younger audiences who continue to discover it through digital platforms. Kajol's biggest hits 1. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior ₹ 277.75 Cr 2. Dilwale ₹ 148.42 Cr 3. My Name Is Khan ₹ 82.78 Cr 4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham ₹ 54.86 Cr 5. Sidharth Malhotra- Janhvi Kapoor's Param Sundari Likely to Move to August , Paving the Way for Solo Release of Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar 2
Maddock Films is reportedly postponing the release of *Param Sundari*, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, from July 25 to August 29. The lack of promotional material and a revised teaser hint at the shift. This move potentially allows *Son Of Sardaar 2* a solo release, avoiding competition with other major films already slated for earlier August dates. In what seems like a strategic reshuffle on the release calendar, Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films appears to be quietly moving its upcoming romantic drama Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor , from its original July 25 slot to the end of August. If industry chatter is to be believed, the film is now eyeing an August 29 release. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More The first indication of Param Sundari's postponement surfaced in the first week of June 2025 when Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported that Dinesh Vijan was considering shifting the film's release. As July 25 began to inch closer with no sign of the film's promotions — no new posters, songs, or trailer drops — it became evident that the romantic drama wouldn't meet its original release date. In fact Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri which is slated to release on August 1 has already released its trailer. While an official announcement was awaited, makers of Param Sundari dropped a subtle confirmation just yesterday. Maalik, starring Rajkummar Rao , released in cinemas on July 11, and attached to its theatrical prints were two teasers — one of them being Param Sundari. Interestingly, while the teaser was the same as the one that had been released back in May, there was one key change. The new teaser mentions, 'In cinemas worldwide this August'. August 29 seems to be the only probable date as 1st August already has Dhadak 2 and August 14th has Hrithik Roshan- NTR Jr and Kiara Advani;s War 2 and Rajinikanth's Coolie. Param Sundari's shift would conveniently allow Ajay Devgn 's Son Of Sardaar 2 a solo release on 25th July. An official announcement is expected soon, but as of now, all signs point to Param Sundari lighting up cinemas on August 29.

When Akshay Kumar Danced Garba in a Gujarati Film — A Forgotten 2000 Cameo in Chundadi Ni Laaj
Before his Bollywood stardom, Akshay Kumar surprised fans with a cameo in the 2000 Gujarati film, 'Chundadi Ni Laaj,' showcasing his versatility in a vibrant Garba dance sequence alongside Namrata Shirodkar. This wasn't his only regional venture, as he also appeared in the Kannada film 'Ashaant' in 1993. He now gears up for Jolly LLB 3 with Arshad Warsi. Before Akshay Kumar became one of Bollywood's most bankable stars known for his action comedies and patriotic dramas, he made an unexpected appearance in a regional film that many fans today aren't even aware of. Back in the year 2000, Akshay featured in a Gujarati film titled Chundadi Ni Laaj, making a brief but memorable cameo. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More In the film, Akshay was seen participating in a lively garba and dandiya sequence — a vibrant, high-energy traditional dance synonymous with Gujarat's festive spirit. Dressed in traditional attire, the actor danced amidst a crowd of revellers and he was accompanied by Namrata Shirodkar in the song.. It was a rare sight to see the Khiladi of Bollywood shedding his action-hero image for a festive celebration on screen in a regional production. Interestingly, Chundadi Ni Laaj wasn't just graced by Akshay's cameo. The film also featured brief appearances by Johnny Lever , making it quite the star-studded affair for a Gujarati film of that time. While Akshay's appearance lasted only a few minutes, it remains a delightful piece of trivia for fans and film buffs alike. It also showcased his willingness, even back then, to step outside conventional boundaries and participate in regional cinema, albeit in a cameo role. In fact this was now the first time Akshay did a regional film, back in 1993 Akshay was part of a film called Ashaant which had Kannada superstar Vishuvardhan in the lead. The film was first made in Hindi and when it was time to be remade in Kannada- Akshay played the same role in the Kannada version. The film bombed in Hindi but in the South the film was a major success. Akshay is currently enjoying his long due success thanks to films like Sky Force, Kesari 2 and Housefull 5. He's now looking forward to Jolly LLB 3 with Arshad Warsi and Subhash Kapoor and to Priyadarshan's Bhoot Bangla. Also with all controversy settled and Paresh Rawal returning- he would be finally starting work on Hera Pheri 3.

July 2025: A Test of Romance at the Bollywood Box Office
Bollywood's July 2025 is pivotal for the resurgence of romance in Hindi cinema. Despite a soft opening for 'Metro… In Dino,' films like 'Aap Jaisa Koi,' exploring mature love on Netflix, and the social media sensation 'Saiyaara' offer diverse takes on romance. 'Param Sundari,' a North-South love story, is highly anticipated. The month of July in Bollywood is shaping up to be a significant moment in the ongoing resurgence of romance in Hindi cinema. With a slate of highly anticipated romantic films set to release, the pressure is on for these movies to live up to the expectations of audiences who are craving heartfelt narratives and emotional connections. At the center of this romantic wave are films like Metro… In Dino, Saiyaara, Param Sundari, and Aap Jaisa Koi, each offering a unique take on love. However, with the recent underwhelming performance of Metro… In Dino and the buzz surrounding upcoming films, July 2025 is proving to be a true test for the future of romance in Bollywood. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More Metro… In Dino — A Soft Start The highly anticipated Metro… In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, was expected to set the stage for the resurgence of romance in Bollywood, especially given its spiritual connection to Basu's 2007 hit Life in a… Metro. With a stellar ensemble cast that includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan , Ali Fazal, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Pankaj Tripathi. Metro… In Dino promised to bring together contemporary love stories with emotional depth, much like its predecessor. Yet, despite early expectations, the film has grossed only about Rs 22 crore in its first five days of release, a modest figure compared to the usual box office potential of Bollywood films in this genre. The film's relatively modest performance at the box office might raise some eyebrows, especially considering the anticipation surrounding it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo A mix of urban romance, heartbreak, and bittersweet connections, Metro… In Dino was expected to cater to modern sensibilities while still preserving the old-school charm that Bollywood romance is known for. However, it seems that its slow start may reflect a subtle shift in audience preferences or perhaps a sign that the "ensemble romance" genre needs more of a fresh reinvention to fully capture the attention of moviegoers. Aap Jaisa Koi — Mature Love at the Forefront The next love story hitting the screens is Aap Jaisa Koi, starring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh. At least this one won't have the pressure of box office numbers as it is releasing on Netflix in a few days. Positioned as a mature love story, Aap Jaisa Koi explores the complexities of finding love later in life and rediscovering oneself through human connection. In an industry often dominated by younger, more youthful love stories, this film stands out for its focus on an relatively older couple navigating their emotional journeys. The film's storyline is expected to resonate with a more mature audience, offering a nuanced take on relationships that transcends age. Madhavan's return to the romantic genre, after successful films like Tanu Weds Manu and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, is especially exciting for fans who have long associated him with endearing, soul-stirring romance. Aap Jaisa Koi could provide the kind of emotionally mature narrative that Bollywood has seen a scarcity of in recent years, thus adding depth to the ongoing romantic wave. Talking about the film at its announcement Madhavan said 'I have done two or three romantic films in Hindi and that's because I was looking for age appropriate romance. When I heard this story, I thought I won't get any better opportunity than this. " While Fatima stated , "I read the script and I was in awe of it. Every moment is special. It's something I completely relate to every moment." Saiyaara — A Social Media Sensation Saiyaara directed by Mohit Suri , starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda , has already caused a stir online, racking up record-breaking numbers on social media for a film with newcomers. The trailer for Saiyaara, which was released on July 8, 2025, has been met with enthusiastic reactions from fans . The film's Instagram reels, TikTok teasers, and Twitter conversations have taken off, creating an undeniable buzz in the digital space. What's noteworthy about Saiyaara is its strong appeal to the younger audience—people who consume romance through their mobile devices and social media platforms more than the traditional filmgoing experience. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have both shown great promise in the trailer, making Saiyaara one of the most highly awaited releases of the month. The trailer's emotional beats, combined with a fresh narrative on love, have managed to resonate with audiences. The film's success on social media could translate into a significant opening at the box office when it releases on 18th July. Param Sundari — A North Meets South Romance In the backdrop of this romantic influx is Param Sundari, a highly anticipated film directed by Tushar Jalota. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor , Param Sundari promises to be a classic Bollywood romance with a modern twist, featuring the quintessential "North meets South" dynamic that has been a staple of Hindi cinema for decades. The film's narrative is set to explore the cultural and emotional divides between Malhotra's Punjabi character and Kapoor's fiery South Indian heroine, with the lush backdrops of India serving as the perfect setting for their passionate, sometimes tumultuous romance. The film's release at the end of July is expected to generate a lot of attention, especially given its star cast and the rich cultural exploration that the plot promises. Malhotra, who has previously been part of romantic hits like Ek Villain and Kapoor & Sons, and Kapoor, who continues to impress with her acting range, bring strong star power to the project. Param Sundari could very well be the movie that reignites the classic Bollywood love story for modern audiences. With its high potential to blend humor, family drama, and emotional depth, Param Sundari is certainly one to watch for the latter part of July. The Romantic Test of July With a combination of films up for release, July 2025 promises to be a test of whether Bollywood romance is truly making a comeback. Metro… In Dino has shown a soft start, leaving the industry wondering whether modern romance can still capture mass audiences, while the buzz around Saiyaara shows that digital and social media engagement may hold the key to the success of contemporary love stories. Meanwhile, Param Sundari could play a pivotal role in proving that classic Bollywood romance, with its cultural significance and emotional appeal, still has a place in the modern cinema landscape.
