Abhishek Bachchan recalls wife Aishwarya Rai's advice on dealing with negativity

By HT Entertainment Desk | Written by Riya Sharma Jul 01, 2025 03:16 PM IST Both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have been part of the entertainment industry for a long time. While Aishwarya has recently been away from films, Abhishek has continued to entertain audiences with diverse roles. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor, who has often been subjected to criticism, opened up about Aishwarya's advice on dealing with negativity. Abhishek Bachchan reveals what Aishwarya Rai had to say about dealing with negativity. Abhishek had once said that he wants to keep everyone happy and wants everyone to love him. When asked if he still holds that ambition, he said, "Yes. Time teaches you that sometimes you can be foolish. Don't be so idealistic. But I don't ever want to let go of that. The day I say yaa I can't make everyone happy, this is me take it or leave it, for film actor it's very arrogant and it will be the death of you. There will be no more desire to improve. I understand that it's alot more challenging than you say it." He further recalled Aishwarya Rai's advice on dealing with negativity and said, "But I still want to make everyone happy. I still pay attention to all the negative reviews and anybody who says negative things. Sadly, as human nature pays more attention to negativity than positivity. And Aishwarya always said, it's water off a duck's back. Why are you concentrating on the negative stuff? Concentrate on the positive, that so much outweighs anything else." Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's relationship Aishwarya and Abhishek first crossed paths on film sets in the early 2000s, but it was during the making of Guru (2007) that their bond deepened. By the time the film hit theatres, so did news of their engagement. They tied the knot in 2007 in a grand wedding ceremony and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011. The couple have kept their relationship largely private and away from public scrutiny. There have been rumours about their separation, but the two have chosen not to address them publicly, instead silencing speculation subtly through joint appearances at public events.

Abhishek Bachchan says it's ‘upsetting' as he breaks silence on family rumours: 'I'm answerable'

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan maintained silence for a long time amid several rumours around his family. Reports also claimed that he was allegedly heading for a divorce with wife, actor Aishwarya Rai. Revealing why he never reacted or responded to the speculations on his family, Abhishek shared that though it doesn't affect him, it was 'upsetting.' Abhishek told ETimes in an interview that he thinks people who are spreading rumours about him and his family are not interested in his clarifications. Calling it 'upsetting', he said, 'Previously, things that were said about me didn't affect me. Today, I have a family, and it's very upsetting. Even if I clarify something, people will turn it around. Because negative news sells. You're not me. You don't live my life. You're not answerable to the people that I'm answerable to. People who put out such negativity have to live with their conscience. They need to deal with their conscience and answer to their maker. See, it's not just me. I don't get affected. I know what the rigmarole of this place is. There are families involved. I'll give you a very good example of this whole new fad of trolling.' The actor went on to share how his Sikander Kher, Kirron Kher's son, gave it back to a troll and shared his home address, telling the user to say it to his face. Abhishek added, "It's so convenient to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and write the nastiest things. You do realise you're hurting somebody. No matter how thick-skinned they are, it affects them. How would you like it if somebody did that to you? If you're going to say it on the internet, I dare you to come say it to me on my face. That person clearly will never have the guts to come and tell me this on my face. If someone comes and tells me things on my face, then I will feel they have conviction. I will respect that." Abhishek has been married to Aishwarya Rai since 2007. Together they have a daughter, Aaradhya Rai Bachchan. On the work front, Abhishek will be next seen in the upcoming film, Kaalidhar Laapata.

Aishwarya Rai was thrown from these 5 blockbusters with Shah Rukh Khan without..., the films are...

Aishwarya Rai was thrown from these 5 blockbusters with Shah Rukh Khan without..., the films are... In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, it's often the dazzling and glittering lives of celebrities that come to the forefront. However, their challenges and struggles that happen behind the scenes are often brushed under the carpet. One such story is of India's most celebrated actress who is not only known for her beauty, impeccable acting but also for presenting India on a global stage. Yes, we are talking about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While now Aishwarya has become a seasoned actress, back in the day, she was dominating the entertainment landscape. But while she was bagging a lot of appreciation and love at the peak of her career, she also underwent a setback that's unknown to many. Dropped without warning In a throwback interview with Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Aishwarya Rai revealed that while she was at the top of her game, she was removed from not just one, two, but five major projects all opposite Shah Rukh Khan. And what was even more painful for her was that she didn't get any explanation for the same. These 5 projects included major blockbusters like Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Veer-Zaara, which were written keeping her in mind. She was removed from these roles without any justification, which left her feeling despair, shocked, and hurt. Expressing her hurt, she said: 'There were a couple of films that were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly they weren't happening, without any reason whatsoever.' Simi also asked Aishwarya if she decided to step away from those films, she replied: 'No, it wasn't my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused, and of course hurt. You wonder about it.' Harsh Lesson Learnt Aishwarya, further expressing her discontent, revealed that this situation opened her eyes to how the industry works. 'You become more aware of what you've heard about, like in terms of situations, people, and the domino effect,' she remarked. Aishwarya was a big actress at that time who delivered back-to-back hits, and this unfairness was an epitome of the unpredictability and instability of this industry. 'It became obvious that it can happen to me too…with all your apparent box office success or 'secure positioning' in the industry,' she said. Rising with Grace Despite the professional blows, Aishwarya didn't let the bitterness take over; she rather chose to move on with grace and continued to excel in her career. After that, she delivered powerful performances in films like Dhoom 2, Jodhaa Akbar, and more.
