‘Strengthen Congress at grassroots'
Lucknow: AICC in-charge for UP Avinash Pande and state president Ajay Rai convened a zonal review and workshop for 13 districts in Jhansi on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Pande said: "The importance of strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level is in line with the resolutions passed at the Udaipur Chintan Shivir and the vision of national leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka. District-level workers and leaders must leverage the experience of senior leaders and focus on strengthening the organisation, which is crucial for defending the country's constitution and fighting for people's rights." He also highlighted the ongoing review of organisational creation by the central office of the All India Congress Committee and the need to bring dedicated workers and leaders into the mainstream, with special attention to social justice as emphasised by Rahul Gandhi. Cong assures support to Dalit, tribal detainees after Karchhana violence
Prayagraj: Senior Congress leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai , Congress MP from Barabanki Tanuj Punia, and Allahabad MP Ujjwal Raman Singh, visited Naini Jail on Saturday to meet individuals from Dalit and tribal communities who were arrested following the recent Karchhana unrest. The leaders assured that the party will provide all possible support, including legal assistance, to those in custody. They emphasised that the party stands firmly with the marginalised and will continue to fight for their rights. Ajay Rai described the Karchhana incident as "deeply unfortunate" and said: "The way Dalit and tribal individuals were targeted is unacceptable. The Congress party will not leave them alone. We are committed to ensuring they receive justice." Ujjwal Raman Singh said the Congress has always stood with the oppressed and the underprivileged. "We will ensure these detainees face no further hardship and are granted a fair and speedy legal process," he said. Tanuj Punia said: "We believe these arrests were made with political bias. The Congress party is taking this issue seriously and will do everything possible to secure justice and support their release through legal means." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ford&Go. The Karchhana violence took place when supporters of Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad went on a rampage for over two hours, damaging about a dozen vehicles and pelting police with stones. They accused police of not allowing the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief to meet the family of a Dalit man allegedly burnt to death in Karchana and that of a "rape survivor" in the nearby Kaushambi district. The mob damaged three police vehicles, and cops resorted to baton charge to disperse them. About half a dozen persons were reportedly injured in the clash. Police, after registering an FIR against 53 named and over 500 unknown persons, roped in 15 teams to ensure the arrest of troublemakers.

UP Congress chief Ajay Rai, 9 others booked in Varanasi for ‘rioting, blocking roads'
A case was registered in Varanasi on Friday against Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai and nine others on the charges of rioting, obstructing public roads and causing damage to public and private property, police said. According to the FIR, which was filed under Sections 285, 326 (B), 126 (2) and 191 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police received information that some people had blocked the main road at Englishia Line intersection, causing a traffic jam. 'Ambulances and commuters got stuck in the traffic jam. Public order was disrupted by Ajay Rai and his associates by taking out a procession on the public road without permission,' the FIR read. Reacting to the development, Rai said they only undertook a 'peaceful march' from the Cantonment area to the point where a ropeway is being constructed. 'It was part of our 'pol-khol' (expose) campaign to highlight how the promise of development in the VVIP constituency is completely false. We wanted to see the arrangements for Kanwar Yatra pilgrims, who are welcomed on their way by locals but there are potholes on the roads. The projects, which were promised or inaugurated earlier are not moving forward. We started making videos of the same and started putting them online. But nowhere did we block any road. These are all false allegations to scare those who want to expose the government.' The filing of FIR in Varanasi has only made their resolve stronger and now they would undertake the 'pol-khol' campaign across the state, and the Congress leaders would reach out to public to expose the government's development claims, he added.
