10 visionaries, 10 movies, one announcement: 'Mookuthi Amman 2' makers share a stunning update
In the 80s, a film was considered a big film if its budget was ₹25 lakh. But over time, that value has crossed the crores. Currently, there are corporate companies in Kollywood that produce films at a cost of over ₹500 crore. The fact that leading actors like Rajinikanth , Vijay, and Ajith are being paid ₹200 crores alone shows this change. As a result, it is now impossible for individual producers to make films with them. Therefore, in this situation, they only work with big production houses. One of the most important of these corporate production companies is the production house owned by Isari Ganesh, the makers of 'Mookuthi Amman 2.' Although he is from the academic field, he has a great passion for cinema. Following in his father's footsteps, he has also acted in some small roles in cinema. Today, many of the films he has produced have successfully run in theaters. The production house has bankrolled many films, including 'LKG,' 'Comali,' 'Ennai Noki Payum Thotta,' 'Mookuthi Amman,' 'Vendu Thaninatha Kadu,' 'Singapore Saloon,' and 'Sumo.' Currently, the film Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara and directed by Sundar C , is also being produced by the company. Following this, it is big news that the production house has set up a plan to produce films worth around ₹1000 crore. To confirm future projects, the production house has announced 10 films with 10 directors, and the announcement was made official through an introduction video of 10 directors. Sundar C, Gautham Menon, Vetri Maaran , Mari Selvaraj, Prem Kumar, Jude Anthany, Arunraja Kamaraj , Vignesh Raja, Chella Ayyavu, and Ganesh K Babu are the directors who will be next directing the upcoming films bankrolled by 'Mookuthi Amman 2' makers. Plans have been made for films starring Dhanush, Arya, Rajinikanth, Ravi Mohan, and others. Also, talks are underway with Ajith. If it happens, there is a possibility that Wells will produce Ajith's next film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The company is planning to release announcements of the films it is producing one after the other, raising expectations.

Tamil actor Manikandan plays the leading man, while the rest of the cast of Kudumbasthan includes Saanve Meghana, R Sundarrajan, Guru Somasundaram, Kudassanad Kanakam, and Nivedita Rajappan among others. Vidaamuyarchi – Netflix Vidaamuyarchi is an action thriller headlined by Tamil actor Ajith Kumar and directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Featuring Ajith and Trisha as a husband and wife on the verge of separation, the film revolves around a road trip that the couple take together, only for the wife to be abducted, leaving the husband stranded and clueless about her whereabouts. Based on Hollywood film Breakdown, Vidaamuyarchi stripped Ajith off his stardom, and presented him more as a commoner - a man with vulnerability, a rarity in Tamil cinema. With the star ensemble including Arjun, Regina Cassandra and Arav, the film was extensively shot in Azerbaijan. Dragon – Netflix Dragon, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring actor-filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, is essentially a coming-of-age film about a young man who turns from being studious school student to a college-goer with over 18 arrears. But when a day comes that he has to go back to his college to finish his pending papers, he is in for a ride that he never expected to take. Dragon also features Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, KS Ravikumar and George Maryan in important roles, and is a commercial potboiler which resonated with the young audience. Retro – Netflix Retro is an action drama with the essence of romance and family feud. Featuring actor Suriya in his maiden collaboration with director Karthik Subbaraj, Retro is about an adopted son of a gangster who seems to finally leave his violence behind to settle down with his lover. But as fate has it, he ends up becoming a saviour of his own folks who are ruled ruthlessly by a cult and fulfills a prophecy. It features Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, and others. Tourist Family – JioHotstar Tourist Family, directed by Abhishan Jeevinth, is a family drama featuring Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jaishankar, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, and others. The film traces the journey of a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee family from the moment they land in Tamil Nadu and how they try to fit into the society while not revealing their true identity. Tourist Family was critically acclaimed and went on to become a box office success, for its endearing performances and writing. Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 – Prime Video Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, with Vikram in the lead role, is directed by SU Arun Kumar. With the makers choosing to release the sequel beforehand, the action drama is about the powerplay between an egoistic police officer and a hotshot family who seem to play a cat-and-mouse chase. The protagonist, a grocery shop owner who has left his violent ways, gets caught between both the parties. Praised for its unique screenplay, the film also features Dushara Vijayan, SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Pooram row: Kerala government awaits crime branch report to take a call on Ajith Kumar
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb filed his report on former Law and Order ADGP M R Ajith Kumar's alleged lapses during the 2024 Thrissur Pooram, all eyes are now on the outcome of the crime branch investigation on the conspiracy behind the Pooram fiasco. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had announced a three-tier probe -- one by Shaik, one by the crime branch headed by ADGP H Venkatesh and another by DGP Manoj Abraham -- after the high-level team headed by Shaik had reported lapses from the part of Ajith in Pooram handling. Manoj, who probed the lapses of officials from various departments fielded for Pooram duty, had earlier filed a report with the government. The crime branch investigation, sources said, is nearing completion and a report is expected soon. The State Police Chief's report filed with the government on Monday reportedly carried critical remarks on Ajith acknowledging lapses from him. Despite being in Thrissur, he did not attend the calls of minister K Rajan when the pooram was disrupted. The officer was not present during the night when the untoward incidents unfurled and the report mentioned that the officer did not perform his responsibility. The state government, it's been learnt, will decide on further course of action against Ajith only after perusing the crime branch report. The UDF has been pushing the allegation that the Pooram was sabotaged to give electoral mileage to NDA Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency candidate Suresh Gopi. That the fiasco occurred only days prior to the Lok Sabha poll and Suresh's comfortable win lend further weight to the allegation. Ajith, who was in Thrissur when the unsavoury episode unravelled, was accused of turning a blind eye to the incident.

Man held for taking children without guardian's consent
Mandya: A microfinance company executive was arrested on the charge of taking minor children without the consent of their guardian by Mandya police. He was remanded in judicial custody by a local court. Ajith, a manager at the microfinance company, T Narasipura Unit, allegedly took the children, including a 7-year-old girl, from a house in Purigali village in Malavalli taluk to locate the workplace of the girl's mother. He was booked under various charges of BNS, including kidnapping, following a complaint by the girl's father, Naveen. The incident occurred on June 16, and following a complaint from Naveen that his daughter was taken by the executive on a bike along with a 13-year-old boy, the son of a neighbour, Belakavadi police took up a case and arrested the executive. Ajith was also booked under the provisions of the Karnataka Micro Loan and Small Loan Act, 2025. Police said, Naveen's mother, Mangalamma, took a loan of Rs 40,000 from the finance unit and delayed payment of an instalment, leading to the executive visiting the family to enquire about it. As the family moved to Purigali from T Narasipura, the executive found their location, their relative's house, and reached the home around 11am only to find the children. He then asked about the whereabouts of their parents and took them on his bike to the workplace of their mother, Pramila. He then dropped them back to Purigali after Pramila asked him to take them back, police said. Four days later, the father lodged a police complaint accusing him of kidnap.
