EastEnders star shares heartbreak after death of his beloved brother

Sean Maguire, who is best known for his role on the BBC soap EastEnders, says he broke down in tears in his car and was forced to pull over he was cryng so much An EastEnders actor and pop star has shared his heartbreak after losing his beloved brother. Sean Maguire who first rose to fame in Grange Hill and went on to star as Aidan Brosnan in EastEnders in 1993 before launching a successful pop career, revealed he was going through a 'tough time' recently. ‌ The 49-year-old, who now lives in LA, shared his profound sorrow over the loss of his dear brother as he responded to a recent Instagram post from Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi. He shared how he had broken into tears when hearing one of Lewis' songs. ‌ Sean expressed: "Lewis been a fan for a while. Don't like talking about this s****. But having a tough time just now. Lost my brother six months ago. Holding it together. But dropped my kids off this morning and played 'someone you loved' and hit differently. Then burst into tears. "I didn't know I needed it. Maybe I did. Had to pull the car over and keep singing and crying. Thank you for the therapy. Really thank you. You helped me get back up. X". Sean's brother died back on January 11 and just a few days later he shared the sad news on his own social media on January 15. He shared a video with the caption: "I've struggled to find the words or even choose the pictures for this. Because it means that it's real but for those who don't already know our beloved brother Darren Maguire passed away on Saturday, 11th January. ‌ "He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a truly remarkable man, friend, son, brother, and was so loved by everyone that knew him. I'm still in so much shock. "I can barely form a sentence, but I know the world has lost one of its most beloved people and I have lost my best friend. We love you Darren and we'll never stop loving you. Now go make them laugh and dance heaven." During Sean's year on Albert Square he played troubled teen Aidan the soap as a 17-year-old in 1993, Sean's character was involved in tough storylines focused on homelessness and drug abuse which culminated in a near suicide attempt. While he was stopped from taking his own life by girlfriend Mandy, he blamed her for ruining his life and fled to Ireland. Sean became a pop star after leaving EastEnders, scoring eight top 30 hits including Good Day which peaked at number 12 in the UK. But while he has had a successful career both on and off the screen behind closed doors Sean is a proud dad of three with his former wife Tanya Flynn.

Karen Henthorn returns to EastEnders as Nigel Bates' wife Julie arrives in Walford

Karen Henthorn is reprising her role as Nigel's wife Julie Bates in EastEnders this summer - 27 years after she was last seen in Albert Square. Nigel left Julie last year without explanation and returned to Walford, initially telling friends that they had separated. Later, Nigel admitted that he didn't want to become a burden to Julie, so he chose to disappear and deal with his dementia alone. However, Julie is set to discover the truth when she arrives in Albert Square. Watch EastEnders on BBC iPlayer and add to your Watchlist Karen last appeared in the show in 1998 when Julie and Nigel moved to Scotland to start a new life together. Executive Producer Ben Wadey says: 'We are delighted to have Karen Henthorn returning to reprise her role as Julie, who arrives looking for Nigel. Julie hasn't seen Nigel in almost two years and is unaware of his diagnosis and reasons for leaving, so her arrival will pose questions for the pair of them.' Karen Henthorn says: 'It's very surreal to be back in Albert Square after 27 years and working with the delightful Paul Bradley again - it's scary how fast the time has gone! Julie has got some awful surprises ahead of her after the initial relief she feels to discover Nigel is still alive. It's been great to film with Paul and Steve (McFadden), who are such lovely actors, as Julie discovers Nigel's dementia diagnosis and why he chose to hide it from her.' Karen's voice was heard on-screen earlier this year when viewers saw Nigel listen to a voicemail message from Julie. CT3 Follow For More

He explained: "Can I just say how much I love that I've had about 6000 suggestions of Hannah Montana! I really did try!" Colson played Craig Tinker from 2011 until his final scenes which aired in May 2025. As part of the dramatic exit, Craig was attacked with a baseball bat by drunk villain Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton). Rushed to hospital, the young police officer later passed away from the injuries. In January, Colson first revealed he would be waving goodbye to the cobbles later in the year. Coronation Street favourite left for dead in brutal attack after actor is axed from soap He penned on Instagram at the time: "Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. "I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. "I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. "I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. "I'm excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning. Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. "I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter two has in store for me." Away from the soap, Colson also took part in Celebrity Big Brother during its first series on ITV. He placed third overall, behind winner David Potts and runner-up Nikita Kuzmin. A year later, his Corrie co-star and On The Sofa podcast co-host, Jack P. Shepherd, went on to win the series. 6 The iconic game show is renowned for its tough questions Credit: BBC 6 Colson played the role of Craig for 14 years Credit: ITV

EastEnders exit story in early release as legend decides it's time to move on

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer. It's the end of an era as one Albert Square legend has decided to call last orders on their time at The Queen Vic. We are, of course, referring to the iconic Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who has chose to move on in the wake of her mum Elaine Knight's (Harriet Thorpe) selfish and irresponsible behaviour. As viewers have seen over the last week, in the wake of Elaine's separation from husband George (Colin Salmon), she's left the lion's share of the work to her daughter while she splashed the cash, partied and gave monetary handouts to their neighbours. It seemed like she was determined to drive the business into the ground. For Linda, the last straw was when Elaine served teenagers Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) and Joel Marshall (Max Murray) with a glass of punch each. She was too busy focusing on George – who had told her he intended to fight for her part of the famed boozer – and didn't notice them wandering off with two jugs full. Disaster struck when young children Bert and Ernie Moon and Raymond Dawkins got their hands on the alcohol and were hospitalised. In today's instalment, Linda scorned her mum's careless behaviour and told her once again that their license was now at risk. She then went to apologise to Raymond's dad Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for what had happened to him. He urged her to consider her future, and whether she was truly able to manage. Returning home, she sat down with son Johnny (Charlie Suff) for a similar conversation. He wondered what she would do without running the pub, and she said that a couple of years before she and late husband Mick (Danny Dyer) moved to Walford, they'd visited a run-down establishment in Kent and realised that it wasn't something they could envisage running themselves. Perhaps the story would've ended up happier if they had never tried. Although the pair had built some great memories together in The Vic, there was also a lot of sadness. She reflected on being raped by brother-in-law Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), and Keanu Taylor's (Danny Walters) murder two Christmases ago. More Trending 'What if it don't feel like home anymore?' she pondered. Later, the two went to break the news to Elaine. Linda was selling up. But how will Elaine take the news?
