Kate Middleton's Sister-in-Law and This Royal Were Twinning (and on Trend) at Major Event

Kate Middleton's sister-in-law, Alizée Thevenet, and Princess Beatrice were twinning in one of summer's hottest trends at last week's Royal Ascot. The event, held in Berkshire every June, is a special week of races attended by the King and Queen, paying homage to their lifelong interest in horses and racing. The five-day extravaganza continues to be a platform for showcasing great outfits, designers and the royal family's seasonal wardrobe strategy. Samir Hussein/WireImage/Getty Images Kate Middleton's mom, Carole Middleton, was in attendance and was seen wearing the Two-Tone Lace-Blend midi dress from ME+EM in the peach sorbet colorway. The dress is made from lace and features yellow cord-embroidered trim. Per the brand, the dress is lined with a peach underlayer that provides an appropriate amount of coverage, making it a great choice for a day out in the sun. Carole paired her ensemble with the Claudia Mid Heel pointed-toe pumps from Emmy London and the suede Natasha clutch, also from the brand. Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images Carole was accompanied by her daughter-in-law (and Princess Catherine's sister-in-law), Alizée Thevenet. Alizée has been married to Catherine's brother, James Middleton, since 2021. The couple subsequently welcomed their first child together in October 2023. For her outing with Carole, Alizée was spotted in one of summer's hottest trends, picnic core (aka gingham print). But she wasn't the only one... Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images Earlier in the week, Princess Beatrice also looked elegant in gingham during day one of the Ascot, opting for a pink and white peplum top from Beulah London, which she paired with the brand's matching Arabella skirt and a light pink fascinator with a sculptural bow. According to PureWow's fashion editors, the picnic core aesthetic is totally *in* for the summer season. Per PureWow editor Destinee Scott, the trend is 'the Americana answer to the Euro Girl Summer vibe,' as traditional picnic blankets and 1950s fashion inspire it. Feminine silhouettes, checkered patterns, food-inspired fashion with fruity designs and edible motifs are the keys to nailing this trend, making it a playful, flirty look that works for a wide variety of occasions. Middleton women stun punters at Royal Ascot with matching feature that has an emotional family throwback

They say fashion runs in the family, and when your matriarch is Carole Middleton, it appears that so too does a wardrobe worth recycling. Cementing her status as the ever-glamorous and ever-practical head of the Middleton clan, Carole has once again opened her designer-filled closet to her nearest and dearest. And this time, it was daughter-in-law Alizée Thevenet who got to raid the rails. The stylish mother-daughter-in-law duo showcased their shared fashion staples on day two of Royal Ascot, bonding over a borrowed hat and pastel ensembles. Alizée, the French wife of James Middleton, elegantly dressed for the sunshine in a Longchamp maxi dress, topped with a feathered Juliette Botterill hat borrowed from Carole's wardrobe. The millinery marvel made a royal appearance once before, when Carole wore it at St James's Palace to celebrate the christening of Prince Louis. It wouldn't be the first time that Alizée has borrowed something from her mother-in-law's closet. For her wedding to James Middleton in 2021, she wore Carole's wedding dress. 'My something borrowed was in fact my dress from my mother-in-law Carole who last wore it 41 years ago on her wedding day in June, 1980,' Alizée shared following her nuptials. 'While talking about dresses with Carole and sharing ideas during lockdown for inspiration, I tried on her wedding dress and fell in love with it.' Alizee added: 'It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life.' But it's not just Alizée who has dipped into Carole's collection. Over the years, Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa have also been spotted wearing pieces from their mother's wardrobe, as well as frequently sharing with each other. Carole, now 70 and looking as stylish as ever, has clearly instilled in her children not just a strong sense of family, but also an enviable eye for timeless fashion. Known for her love of British designers, well-tailored blazers and polished yet approachable elegance, she's long been the quiet style force behind daughters Kate and Pippa. Now, it seems, she's doing the same for her daughter-in-law. Kate Middleton's mother, Carole, showed she has the same taste in clothes as her daughter when she showed up to Royal Ascot in 2022 in a very familiar pink dress. The Me + Em frock was first seen during a visit the year before with young cancer patient, Mila Sneddon at Holyrood House in Scotland What you see with the Middleton women is a shared fashion philosophy. They invest in quality pieces, and they aren't afraid to bring them out again and again. But more than that, they know the value of a classic silhouette. Carole's wardrobe from 30 years ago wouldn't look out of place on the high street today. Think timeless tailoring, flattering lines, and a consistent preference for natural tones and structured shapes.

Carole Middleton's Ascot dress is everywhere this summer - and it's finally back in stock after Molly Mae sent the style flying off the shelves

Carole Middleton is no stranger to Royal Ascot, and she was all smiles as she attended day two of the event alongside her daughter-in-law, Alizee Thévenet. Although Carole's daughter, the Princess of Wales, was also expected to appear at the racecourse on Wednesday, she pulled out at the last minute as she continues to 'find the right balance' following her battle with cancer. Carole opted for a striking yellow two-tone lace dress by ME+EM, which she paired with a blush-coloured Emmy London clutch and classic court shoes. Her elegant dress combined opaque and sheer textures, crafted from lace with a peach sorbet base and vibrant yellow cord-embroidered detailing. A peach underlayer provided tasteful coverage beneath the intricate design. Yellow has undeniably taken centre stage as this season's standout shade. This dress, with its versatile design, is perfect for everything from summer weddings to sophisticated garden dinners - making it an essential addition to your wardrobe. Lace iterations are especially on trend right now. Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague recently wore a similar style by House of CB to a wedding in Cannes, promptly sending the product flying off the shelves. Fortunately, the high street is brimming with yellow lace dresses, so you'll have no shortage of options. Kate Middleton's Mom Carole Makes a Very Rare Royal Appearance

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Royal Ascot is usually a week of who's who not just in the royal family—but all those related to the royals, including Kate Middleton's family and Queen Camilla's family. Today, though the Princess of Wales did not attend Royal Ascot, her mom Carole Middleton was among the attendees at Ascot Racecourse. For the occasion, Carole wore a pale yellow lace dress from Me + Em. Carole also carried the Natasha Clutch from Emmy London—a go-to of her daughter. Kate loves the clutch so much, she has it in at least 10 different colorways, so there's a good chance Carole was borrowing from her daughter's closet today.$595.00 at Carole completed her look with a Jane Corbett hat; she previously wore the hat to Royal Ascot back in 2011. Ascot 2011 Ascot 2025 Carole arrived with her daughter-in-law, Alizee Thevenet, and the two watched the races from the Royal Box. Like other attendees, the two woman wore name tags for the event. Carole's husband, Michael, was not pictured, nor was her son (and Alizee's husband) James Middleton. Carole last stepped out with the royals at her daughter's Christmas Carol at Westminster Abbey in December. Kate was reportedly set to attend Royal Ascot today, though she pulled out at the last minute as she focuses on her health. Town & Country understands that the Princess of Wales was disappointed to not be able to attend. This past September, when Kate announced she had finished chemotherapy, her parents made a brief cameo in the video playing cards with the Wales family: Carole and Michael Middleton are reportedly very involved grandparents with Prince George, Princess, Charlotte, and Prince Louis. 'I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground,' Carole said a few years ago. 'As long as I am able to, that's what I'll be doing. I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.' You Might Also Like 12 Weekend Getaway Spas For Every Type of Occasion 13 Beauty Tools to Up Your At-Home Facial Game

Duchess Catherine's brother opens up about unique bond

The Princess of Wales' brother has opened up about their unique bond. James Middleton, 38 – who has been open about his mental health issues - explained he has always relied on his family, including big sister Duchess Catherine, 43, to help him cope. He told The Mirror: 'I'm incredibly fortunate to have my two sisters, not just as siblings, but as friends. 'They've seen me at my best and at my lowest, and they've always been there when I've needed them. 'Sibling love is something unique, you can't choose your siblings, it can be complicated, it takes work, but when it's strong, I believe it's one of the most powerful bonds there is.' Speaking about his family, he went on: 'They've always been emotionally open, expressive, and in tune with the people around them, and I think being surrounded by that kind of emotional intelligence rubbed off on me, even if I didn't fully know it at the time. 'Looking back, I think it gave me permission, in a way, to feel things more deeply and to name those feelings when they came up. 'That doesn't mean I always found it easy. In fact, like a lot of men, I struggled with expressing how I was doing when I was at my lowest. 'But having strong women around me who led with compassion and honesty definitely helped me learn that vulnerability wasn't weakness, it was strength.' James – who married French financial analyst Alizee Thevenet in September 2021 before welcoming son Inigo in 2023 – had an idyllic childhood in Berkshire with parents Carole, 70 and Michael, 75 and sisters Catherine and Pippa, 41.
