Duchess Catherine's brother opens up about unique bond

Yahoo24-05-2025
The Princess of Wales' brother has opened up about their unique bond. James Middleton, 38 – who has been open about his mental health issues - explained he has always relied on his family, including big sister Duchess Catherine, 43, to help him cope. He told The Mirror: 'I'm incredibly fortunate to have my two sisters, not just as siblings, but as friends. 'They've seen me at my best and at my lowest, and they've always been there when I've needed them. 'Sibling love is something unique, you can't choose your siblings, it can be complicated, it takes work, but when it's strong, I believe it's one of the most powerful bonds there is.' Speaking about his family, he went on: 'They've always been emotionally open, expressive, and in tune with the people around them, and I think being surrounded by that kind of emotional intelligence rubbed off on me, even if I didn't fully know it at the time. 'Looking back, I think it gave me permission, in a way, to feel things more deeply and to name those feelings when they came up. 'That doesn't mean I always found it easy. In fact, like a lot of men, I struggled with expressing how I was doing when I was at my lowest. 'But having strong women around me who led with compassion and honesty definitely helped me learn that vulnerability wasn't weakness, it was strength.' James – who married French financial analyst Alizee Thevenet in September 2021 before welcoming son Inigo in 2023 – had an idyllic childhood in Berkshire with parents Carole, 70 and Michael, 75 and sisters Catherine and Pippa, 41.

Suki Waterhouse's daring fashion choice led to unexpected health scare and hospital stay

The show must go on for Suki Waterhouse. On Monday, the English actress and musician, 33, revealed to her 166k followers on X that she's recently been recovering from a hernia due to wearing pants that were too tight. "'suki you never tweet anymore' have you ever considered I wore pants so tight 6 months ago it caused a hernia & I've been too scared to tell you," the "Daisy Jones & The Six" star wrote. Robert Pattinson's fiancée shared two photos along with the post. The first photo featured Waterhouse wearing a pair of tight, green pants while performing on stage. The second showed the model wearing a gown while lying in a hospital bed. An "inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The resulting bulge can be painful, especially when you cough, bend over or lift a heavy object," according to the Mayo Clinic, Fans were quick to respond to the news on social media. "How does this even happen," one fan wrote on X. "Hope you're feeling better my dear, take care of yourself," another wrote. A representative for Waterhouse did not respond to Fox News Digital's immediate request for comment. Waterhouse isn't the only musician who has suffered a hernia. In 2018, Skid Row front man Sebastian Bach said he developed the medical condition after screaming his "guts out" while performing on stage. "I was laid out for a while after that… I had that operation," he previously told Fox News Digital. "A lot of people have it, but still, you can't do anything for six weeks really… And I was very nervous that it was gonna affect my singing in some way because that's how I hit those high notes." "I contort my body in these weird positions and I just push as hard as I can. And Rob Halford of Judas Priest got a hernia like that and the singer of Steel. A lot of singers face that problem… Because that's how we sing, the diaphragm. And I was worried that I would rip it… But knock on wood, I'm doing all right." Waterhouse is gearing up for her Sparklemuffin Tour in the UK next month, and will return to the U.S. in September for various shows. She and Pattinson got engaged in December 2023 and welcomed their daughter in March 2024.

BFC Chief Exec Laura Weir Sets Out Vision For ‘Next British Fashion Era'

This article first appeared on Vogue Business. It was a tight squeeze inside the pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in London on Monday night, as scores of designers, retailers, press, PRs, educators and others from across the industry gathered for the British Fashion Council's annual summer party. Always a fun affair, this year's event had fresh energy as members of the BFC community waited to hear from its new CEO, Laura Weir. She did not disappoint. 'Tonight, we are here to celebrate not the next British fashion season, but the next British fashion era,' said Weir, to cheers from the crowd. 'I can't help but feel that since Brexit and Covid, we have been sleeping on the creative British asset that quite literally touches everyone. It is time to reset.' The British Fashion Council summer party at the Serpentine Pavilion and BFC CEO Laura Weir and chair David Pemsel pictured together. Photos: James D Kelly Eleven weeks after she took over from Caroline Rush, Weir used the summer party to announce her first major moves in the role. Among the crowd-pleasers, she revealed that, starting from this September, designers who are members of the BFC will no longer have to pay a fee to show at London Fashion Week. The move will align London with some of the smaller fashion weeks, like Berlin and Stockholm. 'Fashion week is a valuable piece of national IP and our shop window for what creative Britain looks like,' said Weir in the speech. The BFC will also double its investment in the London Fashion Week guest programme, with the aim of encouraging more global press and buyers to attend. She noted that government representatives from Hong Kong, India and the Middle East have requested meetings with her to find out more about London Fashion Week, and are investing millions in building their own local platforms. 'They understand that investment in culture leads to the commercial and reputational success of a nation,' said Weir. 'We have all of that in spades, we've had it for years — we have the fashion week, the creativity, the ambition — and yet we are losing design talent to Paris, Milan and Berlin, not because of a lack of creativity, but because of a lack of infrastructure to support our designers to make, create, show and importantly, to scale in this country.'

(Photo by Christopher Polk/Billboard via Getty Images) After Kendrick Lamar and SZA wrapped the American leg of their joint Grand National Tour, the two superstars headed to Europe in early July. They began their run with performances in Germany, then crossed over to the United Kingdom for a handful of dates throughout the month. The chart-toppers are scheduled to perform in cities like Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff, and London. Fans of both artists — especially Lamar — have shown their excitement by buying and streaming his latest album GNX in huge numbers, turning it into a chart smash once again. Kendrick Lamar's GNX Returns Thanks to the surge in attention surrounding Lamar's tour, GNX returns to four U.K. rankings this week. The full-length, which dropped in late 2024, appears in the lower reaches of the Official Physical Albums (No. 83), Official Albums Streaming (No. 89), Official Albums (No. 92), and Official Albums Sales charts (No. 93). Back Inside the Top 10 GNX is also present on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, but unlike on the other four tallies, the full-length doesn't need to return. Lamar's fans have kept the project on that genre-specific ranking for months. This week, it lifts back into the top 10, surging from No. 11 to No. 8. Kendrick Lamar Claims Five Charting Albums Lamar fills five spaces on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums tally this week, with GNX leading the way. That project is followed by To Pimp a Butterfly, good kid, m.A.A.d city, DAMN., and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which come in at Nos. 11, 22, 26, and 39, respectively. The first four of Lamar's efforts climb, while the latter reappears on the ranking. GNX Has Spent Months on the U.K. Charts GNX has spent the most time on the Official Albums chart, the most competitive list of releases currently loved by U.K. residents. On that roster, Lamar's latest is up to 28 stints on the roster. The set has earned the shortest stay on the Official Physical Albums tally, where it only hits 20 weeks this time around. The bestselling release has also landed 20-plus moments on the other three rosters throughout its months-long lifetime.
