Inspired By Divers & Runners, New Collabs From SOAR x Altra & Ama x Salomon Are Forces Of Nature!
We've said it before, and we'll say it again: collab drops are always among the most exciting products to get a hold of, not only for the exclusivity of having them, but also for their unconventional creativity and design. You never know what to expect when two great minds or companies join together – and these pairs exceed all expectations! SOAR x Altra Trail Gear Collection Altra and SOAR, two titans of the running world, recently came together to create a new collection. Thanks to SOAR's love of high-performance clothing and Altra's knowledge of footwear, the two have put together a comprehensive trail racing system that maximises performance capabilities. Reportedly 'engineered for speed, protection, comfort, and control,' this line was tested by top athletes and features race-day equipment that can withstand the heat, long distances, and rough terrain. The pair's interpretation of the Mont Blanc Carbon is the capsule's focal point. A sole unit that combines a full-length carbon plate for propulsion with a dual-density midsole and Vibram outsole is one of the many features that make these trail shoes race-ready. Its vibrant 'Prism' style complements the clothing by fusing white with a range of hues and acknowledging the two through co-branding. The Trail Race Top, a featherlight top with UPF 50 protection at the shoulders and upper arms, is the first piece of the rest of the racing system. Additionally, it has ultralight mesh at the torso and panels that are resistant to abrasion. The coordinating lightweight cap complements this. The pair's Trail Race Shorts, which are made using RHEON, a reactive superpolymer created using NASA technology, complete the collection. In response to running's impact, it stiffens to absorb energy and then relaxes for comfort. Integrated storage and a waistband-free design highlight comfort. SOAR x Altra's collab collection is available now via SOAR, Altra, and select specialty shops. The Mont Blanc Carbon trail shoes cost US$260 (~RM1,099), while the clothing ranges from the Printed Run Cap for US$65 (~RM274) to the Trail Race Top for US$200 (~RM846) and the Trail Race Shorts for US$285 (~RM1,205). Ama x Salomon XT-Whisper Void By consistently reinventing the silhouette and growing its universe through innovative new partnerships and colourways, Salomon's XT-Whisper continues to be a top choice for the footwear brand. In a collaboration with her creative agency, I Came Home Late Studios, British singer-songwriter Ama has joined forces with Salomon to offer the Ama x Salomon XT-Whisper Void. The redesigned Whisper comes in a whimsical colourway of Vanilla Ice, Fusion Coral, and Emberglow. Each colour design has a deeper meaning that is inspired by the sea and the bravery of Japanese 'Ama' divers, who have been plunging into the ocean for centuries to collect pearls. Seaweed green appropriately honours the greenery that resides beneath the undercurrents, coral orange symbolises 'a flash of life—vivid, raw, and the same shade that warms the gloves of the divers,' and white speaks to the 'treasure sought in silence.' In terms of functionality, the new collaborative Whisper Void has an Agile Chassis system that guarantees stability, support, and grip in addition to the traditional Sensifi™ and Quicklace precision fit. 'Number one (reason to wear Salomon) is functionality, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you're a fashion girl, there's nothing more annoying than having shoes that don't feel good,' Ama explained in a press statement. She further discussed her personal affinity for the brand, as it served as the core footing for the collaborative venture. The Ama x Salomon XT-Whisper Void is available now at Salomon's official and other websites. The pair is retailing for US$170 (~RM719).

Altra x Soar collab aims to elevate trail-running with innovative gear for race day
Long days spent racing in challenging conditions on the trails call for the best kit possible, and the new Soar x Altra range contains a range of gear sure to be of interest to dedicated trail runners. London-based Soar is best-known for making premium running apparel and the collaboration with Altra features a high-end trail-racing top as well as innovative half tights and a running cap. For their part, Altra makes some of the best trail-running shoes available, and the Altra Mont Blanc carbon plate shoe is included in the range. The top, cap and shoes in the range all come in the same Prism color, which is mostly white with rainbow splashes, while the half tights are black. Altra's Mont Blanc trail-running shoe has a carbon plate in the midsole, which uses two different foams to deliver a springy but stable ride. A Vibram outsole creates reliable grip across a wide range of terrains, and costs $260. The cap ($65) and top are both designed to be lightweight and breathable for long days in the sun, and the Trail Race top ($200) offers UPF 50 protection on panels on the shoulders, back and upper arms. It also has reinforced sections to resist abrasion in the areas where you typically wear a backpack on long trail runs. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. For me, however, the most exciting bit of gear in the range is the Trail Race shorts, which I've had a chance to test out myself. At $285 the Trail Race shorts are actually the most expensive product in the range, and they offer the most innovative features including RHEON strips on the legs. These strips stiffen when you land to absorb some of the impact of running, then relax to allow you to run freely. RHEON has been used by other brands, most notably in marathon racing half tights from Adidas and Soar themselves. The Soar x Altra half tight also offer a lot of storage for long runs, with four pockets and a loop system that can hold a jacket or trail-running poles. I used the shorts for a long run on the trails, carrying two 250ml soft flasks, some gels and my phone, as well as a 20-mile training session that included a 10K road race. Needless to say I found they are exceptionally comfortable and supportive. As someone who carries a lot of nutrition during road marathons, they'll work well for that, as well as for the long runs on the trails they're primarily designed for. You don't need to spend $285 to get a great pair of running shorts of course — the Rabbit Shredsters are great high-storage tights I've tested that cost $70, though don't have the RHEON tech. You can shop the whole range now on both the Soar and Altra websites, and also through select specialty retailers. REI is also slashing prices for Prime Day. Here are the best deals I found
We're officially in the third day of Amazon Prime Day, and while there are tons of great deals on outdoor and gardening products, emergency prep gear and more, Amazon can lack high-quality outdoor gear that will actually hold up in nature. Luckily for us, REI is also discounting tons of great products to fuel your summer adventures. If you're hunting for the best Prime Day deals on technical gear, look no further, because I've been shopping at REI for over a decade and have curated discounts on products I actually think are worth the spend. Here are all of my editor-favorite REI products that are seeing price drops today. Altra Men's Lone Peak 9 Trail Running Shoes A slightly less grippy version of some of my absolute favorite hiking shoes, Altra's famous Lone Peaks are 30% off right now, just in time for those big summer hikes. Arc'teryx Men's Atom Insulated Hoodie Arc'teryx gear is always expensive, so whenever it goes on sale it's worth taking a look. The Atom insulated jacket is one of my favorite Arc'teryx pieces, as it has a great warmth-to-weight ratio and has great weather-repellency. Read our review REI Men's Rainier Rain Jacket If you're in need of a rain jacket but don't want to spend a fortune, this is the one for you. It's our pick for the best budget rain jacket, and now it's getting an extra $30 off. For real, this deal is a no-brainer. Read our review REI Co-op Men's Sahara Stretch Convertible Pants Hiking pants are great for protecting your legs from bushes and debris, but if the sun comes out and it's hotter than you expected, convertible pants are a must. These repel weather, have a UPF 50+ rating and are super stretchy for ultimate comfort. Kuhl Men's Persuadr Shirt I love clothes from Kuhl, so when I saw discounts on this UPF 50-rated shirt, I was very intrigued. It's the perfect option to stay stylish and cool under the intense summer heat, whether you're hiking in the alpine or strolling around downtown. Arc'teryx Women's Beta SL Jacket This rain jacket is an excellent shell and will keep you dry in basically any storm. Normally, it's too expensive for most to justify, but this Prime Day, you can snag one for nearly $150 off. Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Insulated Jacket Patagonia makes some of our favorite jackets, and this insulated puffy is no exception. It's lightweight, surprisingly warm and comes backed by Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee. Read our review Brooks Women's Ghost 16 Road Running Shoes Summer is the time for running, and if you need a new pair of comfy kicks, these Brooks are for you. They have tons of cushion and support, and thanks to their 27% discount, won't break the bank. Teva Women's Original Universal Sandals If summer means heading into the water, whether it's a pool, river or ocean, you're going to need some good sandals. We love Tevas, especially the original model. Even at full price, they're a good deal, so now that they're even cheaper, it's the perfect time to get a pair. Read our review REI Co-op Women's Sahara T-Shirt Staying cool in the sun is a top priority during the summer, and this lightweight tee can help thanks to its UPF 30 rating. Made from partially recycled materials, this moisture-wicking top can handle any adventure you throw at it. Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar Garmin smartwatches are incredibly useful on runs, backpacking trips and other big adventures, but they're normally so expensive. Luckily, the Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar is getting a massive $350 discount right now. REI Co-op DRT 3.3 Mountain Bike Mountain biking is definitely having a moment, and if you've wanted to try out the sport but don't want to spend a fortune on a bike, this discounted ride is a fantastic option. GoPro Hero13 Black Specialty Bundle Will people even believe your stories if you don't film them? This GoPro bundle comes with a carrying case and microSD card so you can document all your adventures right away. Alps Mountaineering King Kong Chair Relaxing in the backyard, at the beach or in the woods has never been easier with the massive King Kong Chair from Alps Mountaineering. I've tested this chair myself and loved how comfy it is. Right now, you can save $20 on the cozy seat. Shokz OpenRun Pro2 Open-Ear Headphones Listening to music while running can help with pacing and motivation, but you don't want your tunes to completely drown out the environment. These open-ear headphones use bone conduction so you can stay tuned into your music and what's going on around you at the same time. If you're gearing up for summer adventures, there isn't a ton of high-quality stuff available at Amazon. Sure, you can find a hidden gem or two every once in a while, and some reputable brands are on there too, but if you want the best selection of gear that will actually hold up, you've got to go to REI. I've been shopping at REI for over a decade, and I'm super familiar with the brands listed on its website. I scoured through thousands of markdowns to find the absolute best.
