Major update on Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino's future as ‘Napoli schedule meeting with club to thrash out transfer'
GIUSEPPE AMBROSINO is edging closer to completing his Napoli exit. The Celtic transfer target has plenty of options on the table this summer as at least two Italian clubs are circling - along with Brendan Rodgers' side. SunSport understands the Hoops are closing in on a deal for Yamada, and the path has now cleared for a move to be finalised as he is no longer on international duty with Japan. But although the Hoops look set to land the Kawasaki Frontale hitman, the same can't be said for Ambrosino. The 21-year-old is closing in on a move to another club in Italy instead, according to reports in Italy. Advertisement Local Naples outlet Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via state that talks have progressed between Napoli and Cremonese for the striker. It's said Ambrosino is one of four players that Napoli boss Antonio Conte has made available for transfer and has told sporting director Giovanni Manna to find another club for him. It's believed that Cagliari and Celtic are two other clubs looking at him but Cremonese are now leading the race. It was reported last week that Cremonese had tested the Italian champions' resolve with a £2.5million bid. Advertisement There are no further details on the offer at this stage but the latest report claims that Napoli have scheduled a meeting with the fellow Serie A side this week to potentially thrash out a deal. It's believed the meeting will be held tomorrow and a deal could soon be finalised. Cremonese are also keen on another young Napoli forward as it's stated that Alessio Zerbin is on their radar too. The report suggests that the Italian side are looking to sign BOTH players and are not just looking at one of them. Celtic transfer news as Giuseppe Ambrosino meeting 'booked' and Hoops youngster lands permanent switch down south
Italian forward Ambrosino is reportedly a Hoops target but he's wanted in his homeland as well with Napoli looking to shift him Serie A new boys Cremonese are set to hold crunch talks with Napoli over a deal for reported Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino. The Italy U21 star is said to be on Brendan Rodgers ' radar with the Hoops boss in the market for more attacking reinforcements. The Parkhead giants are poised to land Japanese forward Shin Yamada in a £1.5million swoop from Kawasaki Frontale while long-term targt Michel-Ange Balishikwa remains in talks over a move from Royal Antwerp. But reports in Italy claim that they could miss out on Ambrosino, who caught the eye on international duty earlier this summer at the U21 European Championships in Slovakia. Local Naples outlet Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via report that the attacker is one of four players that Napoli boss Antonio Conte has informed sporting director Giovanni Manna to find exit routes for. They add that Cremonese transfer chiefs will meet with the Serie A champions on Wednesday to see if an agreement can be reached, with the Italian side also keen on Napoli's fellow young forward Alessio Zerbin. Meanwhile, Record Sport understands that Celtic are weighing up an offer for Cercle Brugge full back Flavio Naizinho. The Hoops are short in the left back department following Greg Taylor's departure to join PAOK and the Portugal U21 star has been identified as a potential open to provide cover for Kieran Tierney following his sensational Parkhead return from Arsenal. And finally, defender Lenny Agbaire has left Celtic to join Rotherham United on a permanent transfer. The 20-year-old penned his first professional contract with the Premiership champions back in 2021 and has been a regular in their B team but departs having failed to make a senior appearance. Agbaire spent the second half of last season on loan at Ayr United under Hoops legend Scott Brown and has now joined EFL League One side on a three-year-contract for an undisclosed fee. Celtic transfer news as Giuesppe Ambrosino rivals confirm interest as Nicolas Kuhn gets Como blessing
Ambrosino recently caught the eye at the U21 European Championships in Slovakia Serie A new boys Cremonese have confirmed their interest in reported Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino. Brendan Rodgers has recruited Fulham youngster Callum Osmand and is said to be close to sealing a £1.5million swoop for Japanese frontman Shin Yamada but the Irishman may look to provide further competition to Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah in the forward department. The Hoops have been tracking Napoli 's Ambrosino, who found the target for Italy U21s in their European Championship quarter final defeat to Germany last week. But the 21-year-old also has a number of suitors in Italy's top-flight and Cremonese's sporting director Simone Giacchetta has revealed the starlet is one of several players from the Scudetto winners they are actively pursuing after sealing their Serie A return via the second tier play-offs last season. Speaking to Radio Marte (via he said: "Do we want to build a strong team to stay in Serie A? Yes, our goal is clear: we want to fight until the end for survival. "Could Giuseppe Ambrosino be a good addition to our squad? We're interested in many young players, and Ambrosino certainly deserves close attention. While he's not yet a top goalscorer, he's shown some interesting qualities. "Have we already explored Napoli's willingness to sell? In this transfer window, we talk to all the teams you think might have something useful. "We're a newly promoted team and we're comparing ourselves with those who are bigger and better than us. Do we also like Alessio Zerbin, Walid Cheddira and Alessandro Zanoli? "Napoli has a lot of players, and we have to cover different positions. We'll be talking to various clubs, and Napoli has a lot of good players who, in my opinion, could be of interest to numerous teams." Meanwhile, Nicolas Kuhn's pending move to Como from Celtic is a good fit according to one Serie A expert. The German winger is poised to complete a £17.2million switch to the big-spending Lombardy club and former Scotland international Don Hutchison - who covers Italy's top division for TNT Sports - believes boss Cesc Fabregas can take Kuhn's game on even further. "I like him, and I like what Como has done under Fabregas", he told "Another team that's trying to buy the best players, but they don't mind doing their scouting and they don't mind buying a player that is perhaps less well known. "They almost got Theo Hernandez from AC Milan in the last transfer window, so they spend when they can if it's needed, but Cesc is able to work with less established players too. I think it's a smart signing." You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Insider view on Ambrosino as Celtic interest turns his head
There is also strong interest in the Italy under-21 forward – who spent last season on loan with Frosinone – from Italian outfit Cagliari, but Celtic's bid to land him on a loan deal with an option to buy has piqued the interest of the 21-year-old. That is the view of Italian journalist Stefano Sorce of DerbyDerbyDerby, who has likened Ambrosino to Spanish international striker Alvaro Morato due to his clean technical ability and willingness to drop off to link with his teammates. Read more: 'In terms of playing style and characteristics, Álvaro Morata would be a good comparison — especially the younger version of Morata during his early Juventus or Real Madrid days,' Sorce said. 'He is not a pure poacher. Instead, he likes to drop deep, link up with midfielders, and create space for teammates. 'He is tall, around 1.9m, but he is still agile and mobile. He uses both feet well, has a decent burst of pace, and is technically clean. (Image: Getty Images) 'He's also dangerous in open play and on set pieces, and has good ball-shielding ability. 'Another good comparison would be with fellow Italian Giacomo Raspadori, who he shares some traits with, though he has a bit more physical presence and is slightly less explosive than his Napoli teammate. 'Ambrosino has already given his approval for a transfer to Cagliari, showing a clear preference for the Rossoblù club. However, recent interest from Celtic could change the scenario and might make him lean toward the Scottish club instead.' Some of Ambrosino's other key qualities are sure to excite the Celtic support, and Sorce believes that if he should come to Glasgow, he will do so with a point to prove. Having represented Italy at various youth levels, Ambrosino is looking to show that he can be a future striker for the Azzuri at full international level, and he sees this campaign as a crucial one in that regard. 'Ambrosino has represented Italy at several youth levels, including U19, U20, and U21,' he said. 'He contributed to Italy winning the U20 Elite League and scored at the U20 World Cup in Argentina, where Italy finished second. 'While it is probably still early for him to break into the senior national team, this upcoming season will be very important for his development and future chances. 'He is known for his technique and vision. Ambrosino is a technically skilled player with good first touch and game awareness, enabling him to be actively involved in offensive plays. 'He is also an excellent free-kick taker with a powerful and precise shot, while he effectively uses both feet, making him unpredictable for defenders. 'Despite his height, he is also agile and is good at shielding the ball.'
