Insider view on Ambrosino as Celtic interest turns his head
Read more:
'In terms of playing style and characteristics, Álvaro Morata would be a good comparison — especially the younger version of Morata during his early Juventus or Real Madrid days,' Sorce said.
'He is not a pure poacher. Instead, he likes to drop deep, link up with midfielders, and create space for teammates.
'He is tall, around 1.9m, but he is still agile and mobile. He uses both feet well, has a decent burst of pace, and is technically clean.
(Image: Getty Images) 'He's also dangerous in open play and on set pieces, and has good ball-shielding ability.
'Another good comparison would be with fellow Italian Giacomo Raspadori, who he shares some traits with, though he has a bit more physical presence and is slightly less explosive than his Napoli teammate.
'Ambrosino has already given his approval for a transfer to Cagliari, showing a clear preference for the Rossoblù club. However, recent interest from Celtic could change the scenario and might make him lean toward the Scottish club instead.'
Some of Ambrosino's other key qualities are sure to excite the Celtic support, and Sorce believes that if he should come to Glasgow, he will do so with a point to prove.
Having represented Italy at various youth levels, Ambrosino is looking to show that he can be a future striker for the Azzuri at full international level, and he sees this campaign as a crucial one in that regard.
'Ambrosino has represented Italy at several youth levels, including U19, U20, and U21,' he said.
'He contributed to Italy winning the U20 Elite League and scored at the U20 World Cup in Argentina, where Italy finished second.
'While it is probably still early for him to break into the senior national team, this upcoming season will be very important for his development and future chances.
'He is known for his technique and vision. Ambrosino is a technically skilled player with good first touch and game awareness, enabling him to be actively involved in offensive plays.
'He is also an excellent free-kick taker with a powerful and precise shot, while he effectively uses both feet, making him unpredictable for defenders.
'Despite his height, he is also agile and is good at shielding the ball.'

Andy Farrell and Joe Schmidt disagree over ref call as Lions clinch series win
The Lions clinched a 29-26 victory in the second Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground but there was high drama in the closing seconds as the match officials examined a potentially-dangerous clearout by Jac Morgan earlier in the move. Captains Harry Wilson and Maro Itoje attempted to influence referee Andrea Piardi during the decision-making process before it was eventually judged that Morgan's contact with Carlo Tizzano was legal. Full time scenes in Melbourne 🥹🦁#Lions2025 — British & Irish Lions (@lionsofficial) July 26, 2025 If Keenan's try had been chalked off, the series would have gone to a decider in Sydney next Saturday. Instead, the Lions have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead. 'It was a brilliant clearout. I couldn't understand what they were going back for,' Lions head coach Farrell said. 'They seem to go back for absolutely everything these days, don't they? I'm so pleased that the referee held his nerve. The right decision in my opinion.' Furious Australia boss Schmidt felt the outcome reached by Piardi was at odds with the game's push to improve player safety and accused the Italian of failing to implement the laws. 'Just watch the footage,' said Schmidt, who insisted the incident taking place in the final minute influenced the verdict. 'You just have to read law 9.20 and you just have to listen to the description from the referee and then watch the footage when two players are described as arriving at the same time. 'You cannot hit someone above the levels of the shoulders and there's no bind with the left arm, his hand is on the ground. That's what we have seen. 'We have watched a number of replays from different angles so it is what it is. We just have to accept it. 'Players make errors. Match officials make errors. Our perspective is we felt it was a decision that doesn't really live up to the big player safety push that they are talking about. Schmidt also placed a spotlight on Dan Sheehan's 16th-minute try when he took a quick tap penalty and crossed the whitewash by launching himself into the air. The try was allowed to stand because he dived while in the act of scoring, but Schmidt insisted the fact he was airborne made him virtually impossible to stop. 'World Rugby are trying to make sure that we are tackling lower and so we had two tacklers going in to tackle low – and he dived and scored,' the Kiwi said. 'He is pretty much head first so what do we do to stop him scoring apart from stopping his head? There's not much else you can do.' History made 🦁#Lions2025 — British & Irish Lions (@lionsofficial) July 26, 2025 Farrell declared that winning the series is 'what dreams are made of', while Itoje targeted a whitewash of the Wallabies. 'When we first met, big Faz made the call. He wanted us to come here and win everything,' Itoje said. 'So don't get me wrong, we're absolutely delighted with the result, but we want to go again next weekend.'

Brendan Rodgers' men suffered a tough 5-1 loss to Dutch giants Ajax on Thursday night and will play Al-Ahli this evening in a third-place playoff. As part of the off-field entertainment, the tournament organisers held a concert on Friday night for locals and fans. Italian DJ Sick Luke and British counterpart Patrick Nazemi were among those to take to the stage for the Festival on the Lake. But the headliner was English pop singer Becky Hill, famed for hits such as Powerless, My Heart Goes (La Di Da) and Crazy What Love Can Do. A former Voice UK contestant, 31-year-old Hill wowed fans at the event before later appearing to endorse one of the four teams in the competition... It wasn't the hosts Como, or their opponents in the final, Ajax. Instead it was Celtic. The singer was pictured holding a Celtic top, with the club's social media account sharing the image to the public. In the pic, captioned "About last night...", Hill is spotted smiling and holding the shirt in front of a Como sign.
