Look: Nick Hogan pays tribute to late dad and 'best friend' Hulk Hogan
July 27 (UPI) -- Nick Hogan is paying tribute to his dad, the wrestler and media star Hulk Hogan, who died Thursday at the age of 71. "Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and comforted me over the last few days. It truly means a lot. I'm sorry to everyone I have not responded to yet. This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult," Hogan wrote on Instagram Saturday. "Hearing so many kind words and stories about my dad's life, interactions and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting. My dad was the most incredible person I've ever known and will always be my hero. He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. I feel so blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world. He was not only the best dad but also my mentor and my best friend." Addressing his father directly, he added: "Thank you for being my best friend. I love you so much Big Dog and I will miss you forever." The elder Hogan -- whose real name was Terry Bollea -- died at his Florida home at the age of 71. In addition to his career inside the WWE ring, Hogan starred in the reality shows Hogan Knows Best, American Gladiators and Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. His film credits include Rocky III, No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny and Spy Hard.

File Photo by Bill Greenblatt/UPI | License Photo July 24 (UPI) -- Terry Bollea -- the professional wrestler known for decades as Hulk Hogan -- died at his Florida home Thursday at the age of 71, according to multiple media reports. TMZ said the athlete and entertainer -- recognizable by his long blonde hair, mustache and deep tan -- suffered cardiac arrest and could not be revived by first responders. His family confirmed the news to Us Weekly. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) paid tribute to Hogan on social media. "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away," the organization said on X. "One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." In addition to his career inside the ring, Bollea starred in the reality shows Hogan Knows Best, American Gladiators and Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Film credits include Rocky III, No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny and Spy Hard. He is survived by his children, Brooke and Nick Hogan. He has been away filming the upcoming reboot of American Gladiators for Amazon Prime. According to a new report from Bryan Alvarez, filming for two seasons of the show has now finished. The Miz Expected Back Soon Alvarez posted on his subscriber X account that with filming wrapped, The Miz's return should happen in the near future. "Gladiators has finished up filming two seasons, it'll debut later this year. Miz should be back soon," he reported. Prior to his absence, The Miz was in a program with Aleister Black. His last match was a loss to Black on the May 2nd episode of WWE SmackDown. Other Wrestlers Involved In Reboot The Miz is serving as the host of the new American Gladiators series. Several other names from the wrestling world are also part of the cast. According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, the roster of Gladiators will include AEW's Wardlow and Kamille. Former WWE Superstar Rick Boogs, Jessica Roden, and Jessie Godderz are also part of the cast. Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators (2023) For those who have seen American Gladiators, this eye-opening documentary will raise a few eyebrows about what went wrong. For those new to the topic, American Gladiators was a competition show from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s that pitted average contestants against 'gladiators,' costumed athletes with elite speed, strength, and agility. The stylish show was extremely entertaining thanks to games like Tug of War, Powerball, and the Eliminator. The real drama existed behind the scenes, as the steroid-fueled gladiators went to war with the network. It's a fun rise-and-fall documentary about an enjoyable show. Watch Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators on Netflix. The Flash (2014-2023) Forget Ezra Miller's movie. The best version of The Flash aired on CW. Grant Gustin starred as Barry Allen, a forensic investigator who gains superhuman speed after a lab explosion. As The Flash, Barry becomes the de facto superhero of Central City. By utilizing the 'villain of the week' format early on, The Flash established a lightheartedness and delightfulness that was nonexistent in the 2023 movie, making for an entertaining viewing experience. WWE's 'The Miz' suggests Chiefs star for American Gladiators, talks Browns fandom This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, his earliest memory of the Cleveland Browns fandom, and hosting the upcoming American Gladiators reboot while name dropping Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce as an ideal Gladiator. The Kelce brothers are confirmed to be Miz's competition again this year, as he will seek a better finish than last year's tournament. Miz is an Ohio native and a die-hard Browns fan, having witnessed the franchise's ups and downs. Cleveland's last divisional round postseason appearance was against Kansas City in 2020, when they lost at Arrowhead Stadium 17-22. He recalled his earliest memory of the team as a child attending school, singing about their quarterback, Bernie Kosar. "I believe I was in, like, fifth grade, and I was going to school in the bus, and we were just singing, Bernie, Bernie, oh baby Super Bowl," said Miz, "So, yeah, I remember that verbatim, and I also remember us not making it to the Super Bowl. I believe that year was either the fumble or the drive. I'm not sure which one, but those are the two things that really screwed us." The former WWE champion was recently named host of the upcoming reboot of American Gladiators on Prime Video. "I can't wait. I think, with this show, we're gonna, you know, give a nod to what, what American Gladiators was in the past, and elevate it and put it, you know, with 100% and go literally, ball to the wall, if you will." said Miz, "I mean, American Gladiators is a staple, and now to be the host of American Gladiators. It's an absolute honor, and I take it very, very seriously. I want to make sure that this show is everything people imagine it to be and more, and it will be. I can't wait for people to meet the Gladiators. I can't wait for people to see the events, and I can't wait for people to see me as the host." During a recent appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Miz suggested that Chiefs star Travis Kelce would make a great addition to the show as a Gladiator. "I'm gonna go with two tight ends. I'm gonna go, George Kittle, I'm gonna go with Travis Kelce, because of personality," said Miz during the broadcast, "A Gladiator has to have a great personality, and got to be out there, not only do that be physically dominating but they got to be someone, either you're root for, or you're gonna boo kind of like a WWE superstar." The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC, along with a first-place prize of $150,000, makes the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world.
