Bratz movie secures Kim Kardashian as lead antagonist

Kim Kardashian will make waves in the film world again, this time playing the villain in the upcoming live-action Bratz movie. Amazon MGM Studios secured the rights to the film after a fierce bidding war. Kim Kardashian will not only produce the film but is also being eyed for the lead antagonist role. The screenplay is currently in the works, penned by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick. The Bratz dolls, launched in 2001, have sold over 200 million units globally and are known for their bold fashion and commitment to inclusivity. Kim Kardashian, famous for her reality TV empire and business ventures, has been steadily building her acting résumé. She starred in American Horror Story: Delicate and voiced characters in two PAW Patrol films. She's also producing and starring in Netflix's The Fifth Wheel and leading the upcoming Hulu drama All's Fair . 'Kim's pulling some serious strings with this latest gig. We're expecting some revenge looks so fierce, the Bratz dolls might need a style upgrade!' an insider told TMZ. The move to bring Bratz to the big screen follows the massive success of the Barbie movie, which grossed over R25.5 billion. Studios are now racing to adapt iconic toys, hoping to capture the same magic. 'This smells like a play to cash in on that sweet Barbie box-office magic,' said one industry observer, according to Elle . But can Bratz replicate that level of hype? Barbie 's press circuit was revolutionary, with its technicolour styling and star power. Bratz brings its own legacy of cultural impact and social media dominance. 'Bratz has the highest social media engagement of any toy brand in the world,' Amazon MGM noted. South African youth, especially young women, have long embraced Bratz dolls, seeing their own diversity and boldness reflected in the brand. As one fan put it, 'I've honestly never met a woman of colour who didn't identify more with Bratz when they were growing up!' The film's focus on inclusivity and self-expression is likely to resonate strongly with local audiences. Details of the plot are still under wraps. However with Kardashian's star power and the Bratz brand's enduring popularity, expectations are high. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Kim Kardashian's next role? A villainous turn in the 'Bratz' film

Kim Kardashian could land a role in the new "Bratz" movie, which she will also produces. Image: Instagram. Kim Kardashian is set to make a significant leap from reality television to the big screen. Reports suggest that she has been tipped for a villainous role in the upcoming live-action "Bratz" film. According to "Deadline", Amazon MGM Studios won the bid to secure the rights to this much-anticipated adaptation of the popular children's toy brand, with Kardashian and Picturestart as the producers. The screenplay is currently being penned by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick, though additional details regarding the plot and casting remain a secret. The Skims founder has previously been cast in "American Horror Story: Delicate" as Siobhan Corbyn and voiced characters in two 'Paw Patrol' movies. On the horizon, she'll lead the Netflix comedy "The Fifth Wheel" from director Eva Longoria and will appear in Ryan Murphy's new drama "All Is Fair", which will stream on Disney+. The Bratz franchise, which has sold over 200 million dolls since its inception in 2001, is aiming to capture a portion of the explosive success seen by the recent "Barbie" film, which raked in a staggering $1.44 billion this year alone. This resurgence of interest in toys on the big screen means Hollywood is mining its archives for nostalgic gold, with upcoming films based on toys like Hot Wheels and Polly Pockets currently in the works. Interestingly, Kardashian is not the only member of her family to be involved with the Bratz brand. Her sister, Kylie Jenner, made headlines earlier this year with the launch of two Bratz fashion dolls as part of the Bratz x Kylie Fashion Dolls collection, as well as introducing a mini-collection inspired by her iconic fashion moments.

Kim Kardashian in talks to star in Amazon's live-action Bratz movie

Kim Kardashian is reportedly in talks to star in a new live-action Bratz movie, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios. The film is based on the iconic MGA Entertainment fashion doll line that launched in 2001 and has sold over 200 million units globally. Kardashian will also produce the film alongside Erik Feig and Julia Hammer of Picturestart, and Jason and Jasmin Larian for MGA Entertainment. The screenplay is being written by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick, while Isaac Larian is set to executive produce. Amazon MGM has officially acquired the Bratz movie package, though plot details remain tightly under wraps. Kardashian's potential role marks her continued expansion into scripted entertainment, following recent appearances in American Horror Story: Delicate and the upcoming Hulu legal drama All's Fair, which she also produces. Additionally, she's producing and starring in the Netflix comedy The 5th Wheel. This is not the franchise's first big-screen outing. The original Bratz live-action film, released in 2007 by Lionsgate, received poor critical and commercial reception. However, the new Amazon MGM version aims to reboot the brand with a modern, star-powered approach. Polinger, who debuted at Cannes with The Plague, is also working on The Masque of the Red Death for A24. McKendrick will direct and star in Fangs, alongside Toni Collette and Joel Edgerton. Kardashian, represented by WME, continues to expand her brand from fashion and reality TV into mainstream film and scripted content. Deadline was first to report the news.

Cara Delevingne unrecognisable as she debuts dramatic new look at Cannes

Cara Delevingne keeps fans on their toes with her ever changing styles - and they were treated to two very different looks during her Cannes Film Festival appearances Cara Delevingne wowed with her Cannes Film Festival looks, but fans were left double taking as she did a whole 180 with her red carpet hairstyles. The 32-year-old walked down numerous red carpets during the 78th edition of Cannes Film Festival, and fans were left in awe earlier in the week when she looked almost unrecognisable as she debuted a whole new hairstyle. The star ditched her signature blonde locks and instead opted for a dark wet-look fringed hairstyle. ‌ However, it wasn't just Cara Delevingne 's hair that turned heads - it was her outfit too. Matching the colour scheme of the carpet, the Paper Towns star wore a deep red gown with a princess-style skirt. ‌ However, the look lasted less than 24 hours as Cara reverted back to her blonde locks the very next day. The star also did a complete 180 with her gown, this time donning a floor-length black satin gown. Adding to the look, the model accessorised with long black gloves and statement silver jewellery. Cara pulled out the stunning look for the Colours of Time premiere. The 2025 period coming-of-age drama, directed by Cédric Klapisch follows the lives of the cousins who inherit an old house in rural Normandy and retrace their steps of their ancestors in 19th century Paris. The actress is no stranger to keeping fans on their toes. Earlier this year, she left fans stunned when she shared a photo of herself with a huge pregnant belly. Adding to the mystery, Cara gave no context to the picture which was included in a 2024 photo dump. In the caption, she wrote: "Too hard to choose so I went random." Confused fans flooded the comments, as one questioned: "Is she pregnant??" Another added: "Pregnant!?" as someone else asked: "The bump?!" ‌ However, dedicated fans were quick to put a stop to any rumours floating around s they flagged the baby bump wasn't real. She wore the incredibly realistic pregnancy stomach for her role in TV series American Horror Story. In a trailer for the show, Cara once again looked unrecognisable as she wore a black wig in American Horror Story: Delicate, alongside Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts. The supermodel has been in a relationship with musician Leah Mason, also known as Minke, since 2022. In 2024, the couple celebrated two years together with an adorable post on Instagram. ‌ 'I am so lucky to have found the perfect person to ride life's ups and downs with. I cannot imagine living life without you,' Delevingne wrote. 'I spent so long looking for my partner in crime, little did I know that it would be someone I went to school with (and had a baby gay crush on).'

Why is Kim Kardashian getting top billing over Sarah Paulson in Ryan Murphy show?

(NewsNation) — There are more than a few heads being scratched in Hollywood this week after Ryan Murphy dropped not only his trailer for the new Hulu show, 'All's Fair,' but the promos for the show as well. 'What the hell is going on?' a Hollywood insider asked. 'Kim Kardashian is getting top billing on a show that also stars Oscar-nominated actresses? How is this even possible?' Cassie may need to take stand in Diddy trial next week, despite pregnancy Indeed, Kardashian is the top-billed name over Oscar-nominated actresses Glenn Close and Naomi Watts. The other actresses, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash, are also veterans who one would expect to be higher on the credential list than Kardashian, known mostly for her work in reality shows and fashion, not acting. Welcome to 'The Scoop' — the ultimate back-to-the-office water cooler cheat sheet, your go-to source for all things everyone really wants to know! Get the latest on everything from the political swamp maneuvering in D.C. and Hollywood drama to jaw-dropping small-town shenanigans from Paula Froelich. To put the sting out of the slight, all veteran actresses as well as Kardashian are named as executive producers, but one reason Kardashian — who is said to be working on a law degree — may have gotten top billing is she is said to have brought the idea of an all-female divorce law firm to Murphy to begin with. Murphy and Kardashian became friendly after he hired her to act in 'American Horror Story: Delicate' several years ago. But still, it is odd. 'I am in shock that [the veteran actresses' agents] would allow this to happen,' my insider said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
