Over 800 competitive exam aspirants on Holkar College Library waitlist

Indore: A government-run library at Govt Holkar Science College has become the most sought-after study centre for competitive exam aspirants in Indore. Over 800 students are currently on the waiting list for membership. Set up by the district administration as an affordable alternative to private libraries, the facility is witnessing overwhelming demand from MPPSC and UPSC aspirants. There are long registration queues and students wait days, even weeks, for a seat. Due to its limited seating capacity of 200, students are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. The library operates in two sessions — 6 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 10 pm — and has quickly become a preferred destination for sincere aspirants seeking a focused study environment. With no immediate vacancies, registered students often wait several days before gaining access. "To manage the rush, we cancel registrations of students who are absent for 15 consecutive days and allot those seats to students on the waiting list," said Zila Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain. He said, "The overwhelming response reflects the urgent need for more such affordable study centres." The library offers high-speed Wi-Fi, national-level study material in Hindi and English, major newspapers and magazines, and a quiet, air-conditioned study space. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo RO-filtered drinking water and five air conditioners have been installed for the comfort of students. Started as an innovative initiative by the administration, the Holkar College library has now become a lifeline for competitive exam candidates in Indore. With demand far exceeding capacity, aspirants and officials alike are hoping for the expansion of such govt-run study centres in the city.

Watches, shoes, tablets: Amazon delivery agent in Delhi pockets items returned by customers, arrested

The Delhi Police Sunday arrested a 22-year-old Amazon delivery worker for allegedly stealing various returned products, ranging from slippers and t-shirts to high-end tablets. According to the Delhi police, he had been taking items returned by customers and replacing them with old, defective packages before returning them to the warehouses. The police said Kishan would open the package of the products sent back by customers and take them. He would then allegedly repackage these items, often combining them with other products, such as a rugged t-shirt, and send them back to the warehouse. Company officials noticed Kishan's activity when he allegedly replaced an expensive tablet that had been returned by a customer, according to the police. They filed an FIR at the Bindapur police station, and began a search for Kishan, who resides in Vijay Enclave in Dabri. Based on CCTV footage and phone tracking, they nabbed Kishan from the Rajapuri are of Uttam Nagar. Investigation revealed that he was involved in a previous case of similar kind of theft in 2023. The police recovered a tablet from Kishan, along with 22 packets of clothing, three wristwatches, two pairs of slippers, one pair of shoes, and 10 other delivery packets under Section 103 of the Delhi Police Act, which deals with possession of property that cannot be satisfactorily accounted for. 'During the investigation and search, 38 fraudulently exchanged packages were recovered from the suspect's possession. These items had been deceitfully returned in place of genuine products, resulting in significant losses for the company. Further investigations are ongoing,' said Ankit Singh, Deputy Commissoner of Police, Dwarka.
