Ant and Dec's Byker Grove makes epic return after 19 years off screens as ITV sign landmark deal

Byker Grove is making a major comeback to screens after 19 years off air in a landmark ITV deal - and fans can already watch. The hit drama series, which was launched all the way back in 1989 on BBC One, catapulted Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly 's careers. Playing the roles of PJ and Duncan, the coming of age show followed the Geordie duo and other turbulent lives at a youth centre in Newcastle. Other stars who got their big break in Byker Grove include Jill Halfpenny and Donna Air. The groundbreaking series explored controversial storylines and made headlines for depicting the first gay kiss on children's television. During its run, the show covered social issues such as substance abuse, abortion, child abuse and homophobia. After an 18 series and a whopping 344 episodes, Byker Grove was brought to an end in 2006. Now almost two decades on, the series has returned to screens in a deal between ITV and its production company Mitre Studios. Fans across the UK are now able to stream classic episodes on STV Player, with the show becoming available on ITVX in the near future. Speaking about its release, Richard Williams, STV's Managing Director, Audience: Video & Technology, said: 'Just when you thought the 90s revival might have been slowing down, we've only gone and brought back one of the seminal TV shows of the decade. 'Byker Grove was an integral part of so many British childhoods and we're delighted that those original viewers – now of a slightly more mature vintage – can relive all the nostalgic action on STV Player. And if any Gen Z viewers want to find out who really started the baggy trousers trend, look no further than Byker Grove!' Craig Morris, Managing Editor, ITV Channels & ITVX, added: 'We are so excited to bring this iconic coming-of-age series to ITVX, marking the first TV appearances of two ITV stalwarts. Relive all the great moments with us later this year.' Byker Grove's return to screens comes as Ant and Dec previously revealed how they were working on a reboot of the show. The plans were first unveiled last year, with the pair telling The One Show how they were developing new storylines. Dec, 49, said: 'We're still at the very beginning of producing it but we are developing it and it is very early days. 'We are looking at characters and storylines, we are looking at the world because it can be whatever we want it to be. There are a lot of possibilities.' Ant, 49, added: 'We haven't decided if we're going to be in it yet, I doubt it though maybe just a cameo.' The I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! presenters met as 13-year-olds on the set of Byker Grove. In the fifth series, their characters formed a band and later signed a record deal. The duo went on to record a successful album in real life, scoring a number one hit with Let's Get Ready To Rhumble in 2013 after performing it on Saturday Night Takeaway 19 years after its original release.

Ant McPartlin, Maya Jama and Leigh-Anne Pinnock lead celebs at Wimbledon

Wimbledon 2025 is due to come to an end this weekend, with both the men's and women's finals taking place over the next two days, and a string of celebrities dazzled onlookers today Ant McPartlin, Maya Jama, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are among the celebrities arriving at Wimbledon today. The women's final is due to take place at 4 p.m. this afternoon, and some well-known faces have turned up to watch the event on centre court. Amanda Anisimova and Iga Świątek are going to go head-to-head to see who can lift the Wimbledon 2025 trophy. Ant McPartlin was seen at the event, arriving with his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, ready to enjoy the day. ‌ They both dressed up for the occasion as Any went for a striped linen shirt along with white trousers. He made sure he had his sunglasses on ready for the UK heatwave. ‌ Meanwhile, Anne-Marie looked as stunning as ever as she wore a white and blue patterned dress. She accessorised her look with sunglasses and a brown bag. ‌ Little Mix star Leigh-Anne certainly looked the part as she posed with a tennis racquet and wore a maxi dress with matching heels. TV presenter Maya Jama took a break from the Love Island drama to watch the drama on the court instead. She looked gorgeous in purple as she wore a dress with matching heels. She added black sunglasses and a bag along with styling her black locks in loose waves. ‌ Plenty of other celebrities have been spotted arriving for the day, including Ian Wright alongside Emma Hayes. Opera singer Katherine Jenkins looked a vision in bright purple as she also soaked up the sun. Actor Stanley Tucci was spotted shaking hands with Olympic legend Mo Farah before they sat down to watch the action. Cara Delevingne walked along the venue in black trousers, which she paired with a black and white striped top. ‌ Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild walked side by side as they got ready for the tennis as well. Wimbledon has shaken things up this year by altering the longstanding start times for its finals. Traditionally, the women's and men's finals have started at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The usual schedule would see the women's final followed by the men's doubles final on Saturday, with the men's final on Sunday followed by the women's doubles final. ‌ However, in a change for 2025, this order will be reversed at Wimbledon, with the winners also set for a hefty pay packet. US broadcasters have been keen for the change in order to cater to North American viewers. This means the upcoming schedule for Saturday, July 12, saw the men's doubles final commence at 1pm on Centre Court, with the women's singles final scheduled for 4pm. On Sunday, July 13, the women's doubles final starts at 1pm, leading up to the men's singles final at 4pm. This adjustment means that tennis fans in New York and across the eastern US can tune into the main event finals at 11am EST, reports MyLondon.

There is certain to be a long list of nostalgic items that take you straight back to those days - pining for your misspent youth. Here, Nikki Watkins lists eight things you'll almost certainly remember if you were at school during the 1990s, that will bring a lump to your choker-clad throat. 1. Sun In, the spray-in product designed to lighten hair, but dyeing it a specific tiger-hued orange? Check. What a time to be alive. 2. Jelly Bands and tattoo chokers 7 90s kids stacked their arms with plastic bracelets, conspicuously named 'shag bands.' No worries, the most popular choker around looked exactly like that. And alongside this tacky neck adornment, 90s kids were stacking their arms with plastic bracelets. The colour of these thin bangles were imbued with, mainly sexual, meanings that were different from school to school, but the basics were if the opposite gender snapped one of yours: they fancied you. 3. Alcopops, the sweeter the better 7 Hooch was a very popular alcopop in the 1990s. Credit: Alamy So drinking is illegal until the age of 18, sure. But there was always a naughty lad who had a house party- and this get-together was always, inexplicably, filled with the sugariest alcopops known to man. If us 90s kiddos ever catch sight of the alcopop big hitters: Reef, Hooch, Breezers or their more sophisticated cousin Archer's peach schnapps with lemonade, we are sent spinning back to a nostalgic world filled with the ghosts of terrible decisions. 4. Just 17, Bliss, Smash Hits and More magazines 7 Bliss, Mizz, Girl Talk and Just 17 were popular magazines in the nineties Credit: Not known, clear with picture desk A glimpse of the nostalgic cover of 90s mags Bliss or Just 17 sends the mind of anyone over the age of 34 flying back to breaktimes, poring over print. Puffer jackets with basic wording 7 Mr. Spliffy jackets were popular in the 1990s with rebellious kids Credit: Paddywear If your parents had enough money to buy you a cool jacket for school - you were flying in the popularity stakes. And nothing had more street cred than a plain, shiny black polyester bomber jacket with the name of, inexplicably, a construction brand like Caterpillar. But for extra street cred you had the OG of jackets - Mr. Spliffy. The coat was adorned with an embroidered small man smoking a suspicious looking cigarette. Sadly it would inevitably be confiscated by the first teacher to catch sight of it - but the street cred would remain throughout your tenure at school. If you've got an old jacket from school lying in a box somewhere, a savvy Vinted seller has revealed the brands that make the most money online now. 6. MSN Messenger 7 MSN Messenger was a precursor to texting The sight of the MSN Messenger logo is enough to send your brain screaming back to the 90s. This was a basic instant messaging platform by Microsoft that you could use on the dial-up internet of your family computer to contact people you knew from school - in a time when there were no mobiles or 'texting.' It was a great way to waste hours after school- until you were kicked off because your parents needed to make a phone call. Back in these dark ages you couldn't use the blower and the internet together. There really was nothing quite like dashing home from lessons to hop on MSN to talk to the mates you just spent the entire day with. 7. Jane Norman placcy bags to hold your PE kit Aside from being able to recite the words to Wonderwall - there was nothing that would set you up as the epitome of cool quite like carrying your PE kit in a Jane Norman carrier bag. The clothes shop may have disappeared from high streets in 2018 - but 90s girls that carried one in a garishly bright colour in the 90s were the bearers of social clout. 8. Record Of Achievement 7 The National Record of Achievement was given to school leavers in the 90s Credit: Alamy It was implied heavily by our teachers that if we did not fill this hefty folder with a range of achievements from academic successes like GCSE certificates to lesser scholastic merits (hello, white swimming badge)- that we would never be welcomed into the workforce. And hasn't it served us Millennials well? Want a job in a pub, aged 18? The pleather-clad folder came with. Trying for your first office job in your 20s? of course they want to see that you got your Duke of Edinburgh bronze award in 1997.

Ant McPartlin's absence at the King's Trust Awards reception REVEALED as Dec Donnelly appears without his right hand man to greet His Majesty

Dec Donnelly mingled amongst Hollywood superstar George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney as they attended a star-studded reception at Buckingham Palace On Wednesday. However as the TV presenter, 49, warmly greeted King Charles alongside his wife Alison there was one notable absence. Dec's co-host Ant McPartlin was no where to be seen as he failed to make an appearance at the King's Trust Awards reception during the afternoon. However it has now been confirmed Ant was away on a family holiday so was unable to make the reception. The King's Trust said in a statement: 'Ant is currently away on a pre-arranged family holiday so is unable to attend today. 'He will be back from his holiday to present The King's Trust Awards tomorrow.' Yet it isn't the first time Ant's absence has been noted after the Geordie TV star failed to attend the reception for the winners of the 20th Prince's Trust Awards at the palace in May 2024. King Charles couldn't contain his laughter during a sweet encounter with Dec as he asked where his right-hand man was. Explaining why Ant wasn't able to attend his event, Dec joked that Ant was 'too busy breastfeeding' after welcoming his first child with wife Anne-Marie, a son named Wilder. Dec said: 'Good to see you, nice to see you too. He's [Ant] not here today but he sends his apologises. He's got a week old baby so he's home breastfeeding or something.' King Charles asked: 'Is it his first one [child]?' Dec responded: 'Yeah, it's his first one. They've got daughters from previous marriages but it's his first one.' 'So will you please give him my many congratulations', King Charles added. Dec said: 'I will, of course.' Meanwhile George and wife Amal were in good spirits on Wednesday as they arrived hand in hand at the event. The Hollywood icon, 64, and his human rights lawyer wife, 47, dressed to impress as they attended the reception celebrating the winners at the palace. The actor was back to his grey locks, much to the delight of his wife who George previously said 'hated' the freshly brown dyed locks he had for his latest Broadway show. The couple couldn't contain their smile as King Charles III chatted away to the couple before greeting guests. The Clooneys have long supported the work of The King's Trust, formerly known as The Prince's Trust. The Amal Clooney Women's Empowerment Award, launched in 2019 with the Trust, celebrates the achievements of inspirational female youngsters around the world. The actor cut a dapper figure in a grey suit which he teamed with a matching open collar shirt. Meanwhile Amal made sure to turn heads in a black off the shoulder gown which she teamed with towering heels and a gold clutch. The King met with the winners of the eight UK categories during the day as well as the three winners of the three global categories ahead of the awards ceremony, which will be held at the Royal Festival Hall on Thursday. Also mingling with the royal was make-up mogul Charlotte Tilbury, who looked to enjoy a spirited chat with the royal, and national treasure Dame Joanna Lumley. Actor Joseph Fiennes, presenter Fearne Cotton, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and members of girl group the Sugababes were also present at the glitzy reception.
