Ant and Dec's Byker Grove makes epic return after 19 years off screens as ITV sign landmark deal
The hit drama series, which was launched all the way back in 1989 on BBC One, catapulted Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly 's careers.
Playing the roles of PJ and Duncan, the coming of age show followed the Geordie duo and other turbulent lives at a youth centre in Newcastle.
Other stars who got their big break in Byker Grove include Jill Halfpenny and Donna Air.
The groundbreaking series explored controversial storylines and made headlines for depicting the first gay kiss on children's television.
During its run, the show covered social issues such as substance abuse, abortion, child abuse and homophobia.
After an 18 series and a whopping 344 episodes, Byker Grove was brought to an end in 2006.
Now almost two decades on, the series has returned to screens in a deal between ITV and its production company Mitre Studios.
Fans across the UK are now able to stream classic episodes on STV Player, with the show becoming available on ITVX in the near future.
Speaking about its release, Richard Williams, STV's Managing Director, Audience: Video & Technology, said: 'Just when you thought the 90s revival might have been slowing down, we've only gone and brought back one of the seminal TV shows of the decade.
'Byker Grove was an integral part of so many British childhoods and we're delighted that those original viewers – now of a slightly more mature vintage – can relive all the nostalgic action on STV Player. And if any Gen Z viewers want to find out who really started the baggy trousers trend, look no further than Byker Grove!'
Craig Morris, Managing Editor, ITV Channels & ITVX, added: 'We are so excited to bring this iconic coming-of-age series to ITVX, marking the first TV appearances of two ITV stalwarts. Relive all the great moments with us later this year.'
Byker Grove's return to screens comes as Ant and Dec previously revealed how they were working on a reboot of the show.
The plans were first unveiled last year, with the pair telling The One Show how they were developing new storylines.
Dec, 49, said: 'We're still at the very beginning of producing it but we are developing it and it is very early days.
'We are looking at characters and storylines, we are looking at the world because it can be whatever we want it to be. There are a lot of possibilities.'
Ant, 49, added: 'We haven't decided if we're going to be in it yet, I doubt it though maybe just a cameo.'
The I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! presenters met as 13-year-olds on the set of Byker Grove.
In the fifth series, their characters formed a band and later signed a record deal.
The duo went on to record a successful album in real life, scoring a number one hit with Let's Get Ready To Rhumble in 2013 after performing it on Saturday Night Takeaway 19 years after its original release.

LOVE Island's Ryan Bannister has taken a swipe at bosses after he was axed from the show after just 24 hours. Bombshell Ryan was shown the door alongside villa OG Alima in a brutal dumping earlier this month. 3 Their shock elimination came when the Islanders were gathered around the firepit under the impression another recoupling was about to take place. But the group were blindsided when bombshells, Billykiss and Ryan, were asked to stand. The boys were told to step forward if they wanted to couple up with Billykiss, and Conor did, leaving Alima single. Moments later, when no girls stepped forward for Ryan, the group assumed Alima and Ryan would be paired. But instead, a brutal twist revealed both were being dumped from the Island immediately. How Orlando Bloom is turning into ‘world's worst ex' after Katy Perry split from cringe behaviour to nepo-baby parties
HE's failed to reclaim his leading man status, ever since playing a sea-faring adventurer in Pirates of the Caribbean over two decades ago. But Orlando Bloom has upped his swashbuckling adventures off-camera over the past few weeks, in the aftermath of his and Katy Perry's break-up. 5 5 5 All that's left us wondering: has Orlando, 48, assumed his greatest role yet…as the worst ex ever? Because as far as he's concerned, his single era's in full Bloom. And he is making sure the world knows about it. Whether it's air-kissing the Kardashians and co at the Bezos-Sanchez wedding, or partying with nepo babies half his age at Oasis's concert in Manchester, the former heartthrob has been keeping himself busy. Meanwhile, his very recent ex has been grafting hard on her world tour, Lifetimes, and plastering on a smile following the end of their nine-year relationship. His jam-packed social diary includes cringe-inducing selfies and videos, and a bleary-eyed appearance at Wimbledon the morning after the night before at Oasis. Rewinding two months, the actor was there to greet Katy, with their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, in tow, following her all-female, 11-minute space flight with Blue Origin in April. But behind the scenes, reports spread that the couple's out-of-this-world love had come crashing down to earth, amid rumours that Orlando wasn't happy with Katy's very attention-seeking spectacle. One month later, their engagement was reportedly over, and they were duly pictured on opposite sides of the world. For his part, Orlando rocked up solo to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's £20m wedding in Venice, while Katy - who's actually the one who's close to the billionaire pair - honoured her tour commitments in Australia. They had yet to confirm the split, but the writing was on the wall, as Orlando got busy 'partying and cosying up' to Sydney Sweeney, among the many A-listers in attendance, and hugging a 'mystery woman' - who later turned out to be Katy's stylist, Jamie Mizrahi. Emotional Katy Perry fights back tears onstage as she thanks fans after Orlando Bloom split And the cringey behaviour didn't stop there, as Orlando - the man who didn't like Katy's public spectacle - decided to run a lap of Venice in the shortest shorts possible. Needless to say, short-shrift was given to any alleged hopes he had of going incognito. Days later, the former couple announced in a statement that 'Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting. 'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is - and always will be - raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.' Days later, they stayed true to their word - with Orlando sharing photos from a family holiday in Italy with Katy, Daisy Dove, and Orlando's son Flynn, 14, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr. But after bidding the family arrivederci, the actor was off to the races - seemingly loving every minute of his newfound single life. Over the weekend, he posted a video from Oasis's concert at Heaton Park, where he hobnobbed in the VIP section with the band's kids, including Liam Gallagher's sons Lennon, 25, and Gene, 24. Singing blissfully into his phone, the actor sparked a mixed reaction. Some loved his unbridled love for the band; others found it just a wee bit cringeworthy. One commenter wrote: 'Midlife crisis on full display,' while another weighed in: 'Grow up.' A third added: 'Hasn't done anything since Lord of the Rings. 'Such a boring non-entity.' Not one to be deterred, the father of two partied into the night, before donning his fineries the following day to attend the Wimbledon Men's Final. Dressed in a Ralph Lauren suit - with sunglasses to supposedly disguise the inevitable hangover - the actor watched Jannik Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz to take the top title. Taking to Instagram, he later wrote: 'What a game!!! 'There is something so reassuringly British and life affirming about Wimbledon.' Once again, his exploits sparked a mixed reaction. One follower joked, 'You're everywhere,' while another added, 'He's having quite the freeloading summer.' Meanwhile, in contrast to his very social life, Orlando's acting career hasn't quite sparked the same global attention. His most recent film, Deep Cover - in which he stars as an improv actor turned undercover agent - was released on Amazon Prime last month. So far, it's garnered positive reviews, but it's had half the impact of Orlando's social calendar. What's more, he may have been Hollywood hot property in the noughties - with roles in massive franchises like Lord of The Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean - but he's hardly made a splash since. He's worked relatively consistently, but his personal life has always eclipsed his professional output. Very public relationships with actress Kate Bosworth and first wife Miranda Kerr have increased his reputation as a celebrity romancer. That was then cemented when he got together with singer Katy in 2016 - before proposing in 2020. They'd initially planned to get married in Japan later that year, but the COVID-19 pandemic scuppered those chances. Then, after the initial postponement, they said their busy schedules kept getting in the way. Sources have since said: "They never set a date for the wedding or got around to planning anything, and Orlando is 'over it.'' Meanwhile, despite Orlando's love for things 'reassuringly British' he's slowly but surely become a parody of an LA cliche. 90 percent vegan In 2021, he went viral for all the wrong reasons, after taking part in the Sunday Times' Day in the Life series. On an average day, he said, he woke up at 6.30am and spent time 'connecting' with his then baby daughter. He said: 'I'll do eye-gazing with her and sing songs.' Then, his day got progressively madder, as he explained: 'I like to earn my breakfast so I'll just have some green powders that I mix with brain octane oil, a collagen powder for my hair and nails, and some protein. 'It's all quite LA, really.' As well as chanting 'for 20 minutes every day, religiously', he also went hiking and built Lego. Capping off the universally-mocked feature, he explained why he was 90 percent vegan, opining: 'I sometimes look at a cow and think, that's the most beautiful thing ever'...despite the fact that, 10 percent of the time, he ate red meat. Orlando was duly mocked to oblivion for his 'normal routine' - and his reputation hasn't quite survived the wreckage. Now, as he continues to make hay while the sun shines on his very single summer, we're all wondering: are we watching him play his biggest role to date, as the world's worst - and certainly most embarrassing - ex? Sadly for Katy, Orlando may have hung up his pirate costume decades ago… but it looks like he's more determined than ever to sail the seas.

Outraged Love Island fans slam ‘desperate' girl as she steals boy in shock recoupling – leaving rival in floods of tears
LOVE Island fans were left outraged after a recoupling saw Toni sensationally steal back Harrison hours after he slept with Lauren. In a jaw-dropping moment, Toni stood up during the girls' recoupling and dumped loyal Cach, choosing Harrison instead. 6 6 6 6 Lauren was left sobbing after being blindsided by the twist - as Toni confessed they planned to recouple hours earlier on the terrace. Lauren told the girls: "I am a f*****g idiot." It all kicked off earlier when Billykiss received a text announcing: 'Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling in which the girls will choose which boy they want to recouple up with #NoMoreTriangles.' Lauren told Harrison that she was nervous, but he reassured her: "She [Toni] won't pick me." Behind the scenes, Harrison had other plans. He enlisted Harry to help sneak Toni up to the terrace for a heart-to-heart. There he confessed: "I didn't realise I liked you this much… I've been an idiot. "At least you know how I feel now. Have a think. "I understand I've been a bit of a d**k the last few days but I feel like I owed it to myself to explore. I just wanted to let you know how I feel — I still like you." Toni didn't hold back, replying: "But you like her too." To which Harrison admitted: "Yeah… as hard as it is to believe I just want one girl." Toni's gave him a bold ultimatum and said: "She'll still be here, she'll still be around… it's me or nothing." She later made her move at the recoupling, and apologised to Cach and Lauren. She said: "The last couple of days if not weeks have been really up and down and confusing. "After a very unexpected conversation on the terrace this evening I've gotten the clarity and answers I've been looking for. "I think this person has realised where they went wrong and hopefully things will work out from here on out. This decision has not been easy for me. "I would like to apologise on behalf of both of us for the people we have hurt in coming to this decision." Lauren - who was forced to chose Ty moments later - was visibly emotional. The other girls went one by one as Helena picked Harry, Meg chose Dejon, Shakira went for Conor, and Yasmin picked Jamie, calling him 'the golden retriever to my black cat'. Billykiss then chose Boris, Lauren picked Ty, and Emma picked a now-single Cach. Toni had earlier told Cach she was removing herself from the triangle and deserved someone who put her first. 6 6
