Strictly's Anton Du Beke opens up on heartbreak over wife's 'inexplicable' diagnosis
Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has opened up about his wife's harrowing struggle with endometriosis and its impact on their path to becoming parents. The cherished BBC star married marketing executive Hannah Summers in 2017, having first met at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey in 2012. The pair were delighted to welcome twins George and Henrietta following their wedding, after successful IVF treatment, reports The Mirror. During an intimate chat on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Anton shared Hannah had serious concerns about their ability to start a family due to her debilitating condition of endometriosis. It can have a big impact on your life, but there are treatments that can help". The esteemed dancer confessed his bewilderment at life's cruelty, as he watched Hannah lovingly interact with her nephews, questioning the fairness of their IVF journey. He said: "I knew I wanted to be with her, I saw her with her nephews. She's so kind and so caring, I just couldn't understand the universe." Anton bemoaned the apparent unfairness from above, stating: "And whoever is upstairs, if anyone's upstairs, looking down and going 'you are the most perfect person to have children, but I'm not going to let you have any children because I'm going to give you this'. "And I'm going to say 'you're going to have this endometriosis, and you're going to suffer with this all of your life, chronically, and I'm not going to let you have any children. "I thought that was peculiar, cruel, and inexplicable and unforgivable. And if ever I go up to somewhere and meet this person I would say 'I think you're not OK with decisions like this, this doesn't make any sense to me." Anton has candidly spoken about the difficulties he and his wife Hannah encountered during their IVF journey, which eventually brought them closer together. The couple were blessed as the treatment worked on their first attempt, resulting in the birth of their twins, George and Henrietta, in 2017, with their nuptials taking place later that year. In a heartfelt chat with Giovanna, Anton admitted his previous lack of knowledge about endometriosis and emphasised the importance of increased government funding for women's health services. Reflecting on their ordeal, he shared: "Then we went through the process of IVF, well crying out loud. You girls are extraordinary. As much as I want to get involved, all I can do is hold your hand. It makes me emotional every time I talk about it. The injections, the stress, the anxiety. I have anxiety and stress but it's not my body. "She has these injections and the bruises in the bum, in the thigh, in the stomach. And you're trying to help but what can you do? Whatever you want, tell me and I'll do it but that's all you have and it's horrendous as a man to watch it. "You feel so inadequate and you want to do so much more but I can't do anything. And that's why you girls are so extraordinary, you're extraordinary that you do all this stuff."

Strictly's Anton Du Beke emotionally opens up on his wife's 'cruel and inexplicable' health condition that left them fearing they'd be unable to conceive children
Anton Du Beke has opened up on his wife Hannah Summers' 'cruel and inexplicable' health condition that left them fearing they'd be unable to have children. The Strictly Come Dancing star, 59, appeared on a recent episode of Giovanna Fletcher 's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast where he discussed his wife's chronic battle with endometriosis and the affect it had on their journey to becoming parents. The couple, who married in 2017, eventually welcomed twins George and Henrietta through IVF that same year, having tried for many years to conceive. But before they started their family, Anton admitted that marketing executive Hannah had reservations about whether they'd be able to become parents at all thanks to the painful, debilitating condition. Speaking to Giovanna, he shared: 'I knew I wanted to be with her, I saw her with her nephews. She's so kind and so caring, I just couldn't understand the universe. 'And whoever is upstairs, if anyone's upstairs, looking down and going "you are the most perfect person to have children, but I'm not going to let you have any children because I'm going to give you this". 'And I'm going to say "you're going to have this endometriosis, and you're going to suffer with this all of your life, chronically, and I'm not going to let you have any children. 'I thought that was peculiar, cruel, and inexplicable and unforgivable. And if ever I go up to somewhere and meet this person I would say "I think you're not OK with decisions like this, this doesn't make any sense to me".' Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue - tissue similar to uterine lining - grows outside of the uterus, such as on the cervix, bladder, and ovaries, where it collects and thickens over the course of every menstrual cycle. The chronic pain of endometriosis stems from the tissue growing outside of the uterus, which breaks down with each menstrual cycle. It leads to inflammation and scar tissue binding to and stiffening organs, causing a pulling sensation and sharp, shooting pains. The pain can be unbearable for some women. A build up of scar tissue can block the fallopian tubes, as well as disrupt the hormone balance necessary for ovulation, making it impossible to conceive. The TV judge went on to heap praise on women for the things their bodies endure, before touching on his frustrations at not being able to help Hannah through the pain of going through IVF. Anton shared: 'Then we went through the process of IVF, well crying out loud. You girls are extraordinary. As much as I want to get involved, all I can do is hold your hand. 'It makes me emotional every time I talk about it. The injections, the stress, the anxiety. I have anxiety and stress but it's not my body. 'I thought that was peculiar, cruel, and inexplicable and unforgivable. And if ever I go up to somewhere and meet this person I would say "I think you're not OK with decisions like this' What is Endometriosis? Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes Endometriosis can affect women of any age, but it's most common in women in their 30s and 40s. It's a long-term condition that can have a significant impact on your life, but there are treatments that can help. Source: NHS 'She has these injections and the bruises in the bum, in the thigh, in the stomach. And you're trying to help but what can you do? 'Whatever you want, tell me and I'll do it but that's all you have and it's horrendous as a man to watch it. 'You feel so inadequate and you want to do so much more but I can't do anything. And that's why you girls are so extraordinary, you're extraordinary that you do all this stuff.' Back in 2022, Anton reflected on his fertility struggles with wife Hannah as he detailed their 'boot camp' style IVF journey, after Hannah's long-term struggle with endometriosis. Speaking about parenthood on the Parenting Hell podcast, the Strictly judge revealed that Hannah is 'practically perfect' and the 'most incredible mum' calling the fact she couldn't conceive naturally 'the saddest irony.' He explained: 'She's everything I thought she would be. I thought she'd be an excellent mum, always knew she'd be a great mum but she couldn't have children. 'I thought isn't it funny how nature works in mysterious ways - the person I thought would be an incredible mum couldn't have children - that's the sad irony of it all. 'But as we had IVF we were able to have them in the end and I'm thrilled for me - because I'd have 100 [kids] by the way because I love them - but I'm thrilled for Hannah because she is amazing at it.'

Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood says he's been forced to ‘mellow' harsh comments through fear of being ‘cancelled'
STRICTLY Come Dancing's sharp-tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood has admitted he's "mellowed" his straight-talking critique to avoid being "cancelled." It came just months after the show's longest-serving judge launched an astonishing attack on his fellow BBC judges, as reported exclusively by The Sun. 6 6 6 At the time Craig, 60, blasted Shirley Ballas, 64, Anton Du Beke, 58, and Motsi Mabuse, 43, and claimed he alone was behind the show's continuing success. Now he has admitted he tries to "tag a positive" onto every negative comment about a celebrity's dance skills. The pro said: "Back 21 years ago I could be more direct but now what I do is be honest and upfront with the contestants about their routine like I am with anything, I am honest, and with Strictly I am honest but then I will try tag a positive onto the end of it." He added to MailOnline: "I generally do one point now where it's a negative and a point that's positive just to help them build and grow and give them more confidence. "As long as I am honest and not being harsh for effect and telling the truth about the dance then no one can really go against that. "You will only be cancelled if you're being untoward in that way or doing it for effect or your own personal gain but that isn't my case and never will be." Last year, Craig - who often attracts pantomime 'boos' from Strcitly's live audience - admitted that he had toned down his judging style as it would not be allowed today. He said: 'I was really harsh 20 years ago. When I look back, I think, 'Ooh, that's cutting'. 'It would now be classed as bullying, and then I'd be cancelled.' Watch the moment Chris McCausland hits out at Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly telling him 'this is your opportunity to be nice' Former Strictly show pro Ola Jordan recently claimed Craig had "lost his sparkle" due to toning down his approach. He was even seen fighting back tears last series after an emotional routine from eventual-winner Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell. STRICTLY SCANDALS His attitude change came after former Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice was under investigation by the BBC over misconduct after last year. The same investigation also saw fellow after allegations of "physical incidents" towards show partner Zara McDermott. Giovanni quit the BBC show last year. In October, the BBC released their findings into his conduct, upholding six of the 17 allegations of bullying made by Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington from her time as his 2023 partner. Giovanni was cleared on the other 11, but the BBC still apologised to Amanda for her experience. CLAP BACK Craig, a Strictly veteran of 21 years, was pulling no punches on the first night of his UK tour, Revelations: Songs Boys Don't Sing. In a comment writing off original head judge Len Goodman and axed Arlene Phillips, acid-tongued Craig said: 'There is no other judge. I created it. They are either dead or have been sacked.' Playing up to his notoriety, he added: 'I get booed heavily but I enjoy playing the villain.' He joked that his comments about Len, who died in 2023 aged 78, and Arlene, 81, who was axed in 2009, and the later judges would help him sell tickets for the show. Craig laughed: 'We are going to be in the news. We need it as this is the beginning of the tour and we need to sell the tour.' Craig, paid around £200,000 a year for Strictly, went on to rap the Beeb for making him change the name of his third autobiography. 6 6 6
